I found a turtle on my lawn today. By the looks of the markings, female I believe. I thought about keeping her as a pet, but I realized she might have important turtle business to attend to, like making more turtles. I droped her off in the swampy bit behind the community resto.

Turtles were extinct around here.
Until about 80-some years ago, when they reapered. Not one of the original breeds though.
Bit of a weird one that showed up, but let's not get judgemental.

If you seed just a little bit but autistically anything above 2.5" for like a months The weeds will go and that will fill in.
Grass will take over the weeds if you just beat the weeds down non stop.
In fact the churned up weed matter fuels the grass and then as grass comes in the top cut and keeping it short acts like a hay.
Before you know it...BEAUTIFUL LAWN.

They migrate ONCE A YEAR to find mates...here it's always the 3rd week of June.

That's an aquatic turtle, not a tortoise. It is a trachemys scripta trostii I believe.
It is a female judging by the size.
Check its cloaca to make sure.
How far is that from a body of water?

Like by the end of summer you could have full lawn with just like a 5 lb bag of seed in that spot and if you mowed down all of it consistently at 2.5" and never mowed after rain when it's wet.
You want the cuttings to immediately dry up like hay.
That ugly gap will start closing in from the sides within a couple of weeks.
