Been a long time since he had one. I doubt it’s possible nowadays with just how much we produce.

People starved to death during the dust bowl
>>
>>535466496
They have, though it was usually spread out enough that (at least you) wouldn't consider it "the United States" since it wasn't EVERYONE in the United States.

But on the personal/regional level, yes there was famine, especially in the early years of the country. For example, in 1816, the US suffered from "the year without a summer", where there was snow and frost as late as June, which killed off crops and caused mass starvation in the winter and spring that followed.

In some Michigan histories, there are some pretty solid details about how desperate and widespread the lack of food was.

And yesterday i had a famine because my fridge only had oscar meyers instead of nathan’s :(

That's a brown man's leg if I ever saw one

Also if you want to get real anal about it, Jamestown had a famine.. which is why they ate each other just a little bit.
>>
>>535467094
It was a legitimate reply. OP claims there was no famine/starvation in the US; and I was simply pointing out that this is provably wrong

I know, im just saying my personal experience, fren fren

It wasnt the US yet at that point.
Starvation was pretty common in the early years of the colonial era.
1500s were a shit time to be in the americas

I did experience a famine.
It was 1978 and OPEC decided to raise oil prices for western countries. There was no fuel to go around. No food to speak of.
We survived for 2 whole years on home gardens and humanitarian aid.
I was but a wee lad back then, but I still remember it vividly.

Plenty of "isolated cases", especially in the early days.
(Isn't your thanksgiving feast somewhat related to one of them?)
Later there has been nation-wide shortages during depressions which I guess count as a "mild famine"
But OP probably means the widespread continental "millions dead" kind of shit that has happened elsewhere.
If anything, it is countries like my "smørhul" that has never known famine - probably the main reason why we still have a king, they tend to get blamed when that kind of shit goes down.
>>
>>535466496
literal retard take
the depression wasnt just an economic downturn
it was coupled with a drought that wiped out tens of thousands of farmers
>>

The American Midwest is called "the breadbasket of the world." A significant amount of other smaller countries rely on our food exports to feed their people.

We tried that.
They didn't grow so whell with the roots pointing up and their greens in the soil.
Works much better when we just let them grow the way they wants to.
