Power hungry people crave power because they give more a damn about social dynamics, it's part of what makes them crave power. If you care less about social shit then you're going to care less about wielding power in society. Then the more corrupt society becomes as a result of this the less interest good people are going to have wanting to play a part in it, it's not offering good people as much as bad people. It's snowballing, evil people feel motivated, good people feel demoralized.
