I don't get people that are championing the fact that you get a lower payment. You often have a higher interest rate when the mortgage is longer. A 15 year is 1% less than a 30 year right now. It would make way more sense to just have the lower interest rate if you can afford the payment. You save so much more money long term unless you think you can make the difference up in investing. However, once you see how much your stocks are increasing compared to your mortgage balance interest owed you might as well keep the your stocks and avoid selling and paying taxes.Even better with this approach is just rent a small room and invest all your income into stocks.
