>Europoors ACTUALLY BELIEVE that their dehumidifiers are air conditioners
What the fuck is their problem? Why are they so retarded? Why will they not accept the truth that they got scammed? These "portable air conditioners" are not actually air conditioners at all. Since the compressor is indoors (unlike how it would be outdoors on a real AC) all the extra heat gets released indoors, which then has to be blown outside via the large hose. This creates a negative pressure indoors, and hot humid air from outside will just come right back in. Eurokeks even have to empty the water bucket on most of these units, unlike real AC where it flows through a dedicated hose from inside to outside.

How do we enlighten the Europoors? I know they're only on year 3 of indoor cooling technology, while we've been doing it a century, so I do feel pity. Of course, actual portable AC units do exist (like the Midea portasplit), but they cost $700+ unlike these dehumidifiers which cost $200.

>>537818754
Nigger what do you think happens when you reduce the humidity? Problem isn't the temperature its the temperature paired with 90% humidity
>>
>>537818836
It makes the air dryer at the cost of maintaining or even raising the temperature, unlike a real AC which makes the air both dryer and lower temperature. A real AC is also much more efficient and quieter. Sorry, europoor.
>>537818944
An air conditioner specifically separates the compressor and condenser outside. A dehumidifier does not do this.
>>537818926
Luckily for you, an AC prevents mold better than a dehumidifier. See the first reply.

>>537819004
I just want you to stop calling dehumidifiers air conditioners. I don't actually care if you use them or if you feel cooler. I'm not arguing that dehumidifiers don't make a room feel cooler. But it's an inferior, wasteful, noisy solution. It is not an air conditioner.

There are tales in Europe of giant cities in a faraway land across the sea, each building with its own self-contained climate. It could control the indoor climate using esoteric technology, and some would even say that it’s magic. Many primitive European tribes say that the cities were built by the gods, but their more contemporary counterparts simply refer to the builders as “Americans”.

This is true but not enough to negate the cooling effect from the ac but it does make them noticeably less efficient, the compressor runs longer and reduced the lifespan of the unit. AND they're typically more expensive then window units.

The single hose models are not very efficient, but they WILL cool a room down. I have a dual hose model that definitely works to cool down a room. It's true that the compressor, evaporator, and condenser are all inside the room, but with a dual hose model it pulls air from outside, through the condenser, and exhausts the hot air straight back out again, so there's no vacuum created in the room to pull warm air in. Likewise, the evaporator just cycles the interior air to cool it down. Still not as efficient as a minisplit or even a window A/C, but it's not a bad option if that's all you can use because you rent or don't have the right kind of window.

if the intended function is to condition the air, and they achieve this state goal, then they are air conditioners.

I get it, you are trying to be elitist and patriotic about how superior americans are with their "real air conditioning" and thats cool, its gay as fuck, but whatever.
The bigger point here is that you are just making yourself look retarded.
They are less efficient.
If i put the unit outside then ran the cold air hose into the house, it would be functionally the same as your "real air conditioner", but for obvious reasons, we accept the loss of efficiency by having the unit indoors.

thats all there is to it. stop being stupid.
>>
>>537819743
dual hose is the best option for portable, you can make it even better by insulating the exhaust hose and potentially putting a kink on the intake outside so it is 100% not sucking in any of the warm exhaust air you are pushing out. they place the intake and outlet right next to eachother which is not ideal unless you angle one of them away.

Do we as English speakers call a refrigerator or a freezer an air conditioner? No. Do we call an electric space heater, or a boiler and radiator, or a fireplace an air conditioner? No. They all condition the air, but they are not air conditioners.
>>
>>537821082
you dont have to accept the loss of efficiency with a properly insulated and sealed two hose unit. ive seen people make window air conditioners into portable units with some plywood, insulation, spray foam, and hoses
>>
the reduction in air pressure in my relatively airtight house draws up the cold air from the basement (along with a fan placed strategically). the a/c unit is also set to shoot it's cold air upwards into the house's hot ceiling, helping circulate moving, cool air around in general.

if it's hot for 2 weeks solid eventually yeah it's just doing nothing at all or making things worse.
but that's what machines do. they do what they do and it's up to the user to make that functionality useful for them. we're reverting to "technology is magic or useless" mindsets these days

thats actually incorrect. they have refigeration units inside. you are thinking of the knockoff swamp cooler type that needs filled with water and getting it totally backwards.

The primary method of cooling is refrigeration. they dont dehumidify, but a small amount of humidity is lost to condensation, which then just evaporates into the room anyway.
>>
>>537821350

Just to remind /pol/ two things: the USA elected one from their former slave race to be their leader. This is quite obviously the biggest humiliation a nation can endure and this is likely to be why so many burgers are roleplaying as members of the opposite sex these days.

The second? 93% of American men adhere to the Jewish cultural practice of circumcision. Yes, very strange isn't it? Their "moms" squeezed them out of their pussyole' and then sent them off to have their penises mutilated for no reason whatsoever.

We live in such different worlds, I’m not even sure if you’re serious. It is 80 degrees at 9pm and will be 90 during the day. Maximum humidity, dew on the grass every single morning. I have one of these, because my windows open sideways and won't support a regular window until. I really need to look into the mini splits that are precharged and don't HVAC or electrical. The hose to the window does carry, and radiate, an awful lot of heat on its own, and you're right about creating negative pressure for inflow elsewhere.

Heaven forbid the hose gets knocked loose and it's pouring all that hot air into the house.

That said, it does cool, and I keep it isolated in the bedroom while the rest of the house is miserable. It's just probably the least efficient option for cooling.

i was talking about the condensation that forms on the cold side. aka, the humidity from the actual air in the room condensing on the surface of the evaporator coil and dripping off.
it falls down into a little catch pan but then just evaporates away anyway. you never really need to empty it. iive never had water collect there. its always been mostly dry

works in my house. window units are a massive fucking pain in the ass because I'd have to remove them every fall and reinstall them in the late spring, and I would need several of them.

you can have one that pulls in outside air
but that causes humdity, mold

mine blows only out but it doesnt' need to be drained the compressor vaporizes the humidity and sends it out the vent

Condensation builds on the blades of the fan while cool air is blowing, so if you don't run internal cleaning on the A/C, mold will grow inside.
Also, A/Cs stop dehumidifying once the target temperature is reached
>t. using both AC and dehumidifer right now

The most advanced AC systems are, not surprisingly, in the Middle East. A high percentage of Dubai is connected to district cooling: a station cools water and dumps excess heat into the sea. Cold water is piped through the pipes into the buildings, where it's used to cool incoming air.

Not only is it much cheaper and quieter, but it does the opposite to the urban heat effect that europoors are afraid of. The ac heating effect is real, but small - 2-3F locally with high AC density.
Because district cooling moves heat from the sun inland into the sea, such AC actually creates an urban cooling effect (also small).
