Lived there for a few years around 2010. Pretty solid as far as shitholes go. 8/10, would do again. Country is actually quite clean. If you have money, you can get just about anything you want easily in Dakar. Cheap food is plentiful. Power used to cut out every day for a few hoursPeople are obnoxiously friendly and all scammers. If you’re white, prices will start at 4-5 times the going rate. Locals will be your best friend, but it’s all for a reason. They would betray a decade long good job for a few hundred bucks. Trust me, I know. Very successful old money French and Lebanese families all over town. Rising young generation of rich Senegalese are fun to party with. Infrastructure outside of Dakar was basically all built by the Chinese in the last 20 years, so general disclaimer about how well it will hold up for another 20 years.
