I went to West Virginia recently, and it was just amazing. 90% white, safe, beautiful nature, and most importantly it actually felt like *somewhere*, with an identity. Obviously this state has issues, and no economy, but at the very least it felt like America. It was a breath of fresh air, coming from a 50% white state that feels like a global bazaar.

There's plenty of things to fix and maintain.Once I found the hillbilly mindset of making do and using some tricks and ingenuity, everything else in life improved. Just stay away from the meth and the opioids. Which I've never had trouble with anyway.

Storms and heavy rains are no joke in hollers where there's potential for flash flooding. If you can work and take care of stuff, and don't bring any weird shit with you, it's easy to meld into the communities there. A LOT easier than the west coast, or New fucking England. Learn the accent there as fast as you can. Enjoy it. You absorb it and you'll be good to go. The errant methheads are easy enough to deal with compared to druggies in most places. >>538548250I loved it too. A few years ago i took at least 6 trips but to look for houses (ended up not getting one in WV) and the terrain was beautiful to look at, but ASS to drive on. Every time I went a piece of my car's plash guard would get ripped off. Also, many properties had shit terrain; 80+ acres but only 1-2 acres are farmable, the rest being steep slopes. I liked seeing all the random general stores that dont come up on google maps.
