Not that they needed it anyway, the fundamental research was actually initially done by Russians in the 60s, they just didn't apply it to aircraft design until after the US did. Once the idea of applying the physical theory of diffraction to aircraft design was shown to work, the limiting factor was not understanding how to reduce RCS, but the ability to manufacture a plane with such design considerations built in. China can now manufacture stealth aircraft, so the danger from them getting their hands on an American stealth plane now would be that they could fine tune their radars to detect it more easily.
