As a wealthy community over time they have mixed with a lot of nobles and rich people, and "stolen" some of the best genes in Europe for their own purpose. The Ashkenazi IQ advantage has been traced back to a particular moment in the Frankish Empire in the 600's, when they were given special roles over moneylending, banking, estate management. Does she stop being white?The fact is white is no more than a word for european, and european has never been a strong ethnic identity. It is about as strong an identity as east asian, south asian, middle eastern, or african. In the diverse environment of america these groups are forced together by pressure from other groups, but in europe a frenchman and a russian are not the same ethnic group.

In today's day and age a white person is anyone who is "more european than not." Which can even include Iraqis etc if they have a bunch of european features like pale skin, light eyes, light hair etc. That is why many Asians, despite having even paler skin than many Europeans, are not white, because they are easily identified as a separate group. Meanwhile if Mark Zuckerberg walked down the street and no one knew who he was then 99/100 people would identify him as a white European. First of all definitions evolve, you have to adapt to the times. For example in Australia "black" always referred to the aboriginals. We have to deal with the fact that in modern times "white" exists primarily to refer to anyone who looks more European than not European and it exists that way because the larger black-white-asian-latino-indian divide is more powerful than the smaller anglo-italian-jewish-russian divide.
