This happens when people stop believing in concrete things and instead perceive the world through labels that can be slapped on just about anything regardless of the subject matter at will. They just use tags that appeal to their target audience more and since the target group does not actually hold any real convictions, they end up teaming behind said labels without assessing their actual substance. Thus, Ukraine can be a Nazi regime and a liberal democracy at the same time, while Russia can be right-wing "saviour of the white race" and a Bolshevik entity simultaneously. None of those people actually care about the validity of those stamps, they are just there to rally people around them. I guess this is why threads about the conflict always turn out meaningless as well - nobody wants to discuss anything substantial, all they want is for their team to win an online argument to feel a bit better about themselves. Its all so tiresome really.
