bond yields go up when people aren't buying them. the 10 year bond yield going up means that the world is losing faith that the US govt will last long enough to pay them across 10 years. ie a 1 yr bond yield spiking isn't a huge deal, but a >10yr bond is because it outlasts any possible administration. the entire herd is being doubted, not just a single party

Yield is pretty important in the economy especially the stock market economy of the US

The US is a fraudulent state, its stock market is fake and it’s the only thing propping up its “superpower” status.

Someone like Elon just has to say he wants go to mars ( he can’t make functional rockets) or put a brainchip in your brain and they ll pump him up to a trillion dollars.

They all feed of the lie,

It needs to end, we need better systems and we need to stop thinking it’s up to anyone else but the young and willing
>>
>>543210569
USA gov spending is 40% of the fucking economy. Bonds getting to high means the government can't spend as much, and in fact will have to raise taxes. The higher yield go the more drastic the the economic shock is, and plunges the country into a recession.

Right now the gov has a blind fold and is spending like crazy, but the music always stops eventually.

The system cannot fail because the money always comes out of the printer and the proverbial bankman's keystrokes always produces another zero at the end of an account balance.

>>543210286
Not really. The dollar is still the strongest currency. Every other world currency is in worse shape, which means foreign banks will have to keep buying US Treasuries to keep their own shit in check, keeping the yields under control. And if there is a correction in the stock market, yields will fall as well as bonds become the better option. This stuff is complicated.

AI is not what they say it is, it’s just new software and we are very very far away from superintelligence ( if even possible)

All these guys are going to do now, is rug pull some retail investors with the IPO , try and shift the losses to the public or even ask for a bailout ( because we must beat China!)

Super hard to predict man, in my opinion. Right now you should be looking and researching companies that aren’t in AI. Are doing very well, have a low p/e and are just being ignored in the current hype cycle.

Everyone is different and has a different risk tolerance

But a place to maybe start looking
Are retail giants like Nike or Aritzia

Software companies like SOFI or Salesforce
And resource companies like Oil, or gold mining companies

Your best bet is to dca and keep cash on the side for the upcoming crash

Good luck

Singapore is a near totalitarian society as its the cross roads of vast trading routes, if it wasn't it would have been bought out by capitalists wholly instead of being its own country. The only thing capitalist about their system is how they extract capital from those trade routes while keeping external controls to a minimum by force instead of our shit tier jew system.

Education is purely to service their trade route access and secure their balance of power, a bunch of ditch diggers don't have much political power or means to resist world powers in playing the great game.

Affordability..... holy shit, you've never been to singapore. This is like saying earning 250k a year is poor.

Singapore would succeed from the point of economists even if they only had one port and everything else was a bunch of rice farmers. The amount of money flooding thru their region means even a single half percentage of extraction makes their elites richer than half the nations on earth. That is how trade works.

Have you ever considered that your soundbite-attention-span timeframe isn't a meaningful timeframe to predict anything on? If I predicted collapse in 2 weeks, what good would that even do? Wouldn't be so much a prediction as it would be just the first declaration of what was readily apparent to all.

Collapse will happen within the next 20 or 30 years. And likely much sooner (1-5 years). Everyone knows it. Everyone's trying to pretend it won't, while we strain ourselves mentally wondering if we can even cobble together a personal escape hatch.

...we exported and imported the inflation.

Those jeets and Mexicans working for $7 an hour specifically were meant to offset that.

The issue with raising the minimum wage is that will just accelerate it...or so they claim.

I don't claim this to be absolute truth but if everyone makes $80,000 a year then prices for everything would just rise to make that level a poverty level.

I think a combined approach has to be taken to this and starts with congress stop printing money

>trust disintegrating in US gov & US economy is a major signal for risk appetite and overall feeling of stability (which are necessary conditions for consistent growth)
>US has record debt that is getting rapidly more expensive to service as it's re-issued
>unwillingness to curb spending for multiple decades pushing US toward liekly austerity measures that we've seen be major issues elsewhere
>>
How do I profit from this? And by profit, I mean lose less than everyone else.
>>
>>543210488
If you have 10k cc debt yeah it's no big deal. once you owe 40 trillion it's a big deal
>Fastest-Growing Expense: Net interest payments have already topped $1 trillion annually, making interest a larger line item than defense or Medicai
>Maturing Debt Rollover: As older, low-rate bonds expire, the Treasury must replace them at current market rates near 5%, locking in higher annual outlay
And it's only going to go up because why would anyone want our debt that we can't pay because the interest is high? It's a self licking lollipop.
>>
>>543214864
The fact the min wage is still that low shows a lot of problems. Wage already shot up £3 in the span of like, 3 years here. Should be $10 across the board over there since I swear americans have been bitching about that amount for 10 years.

Trump is getting the spanking his daddy should have given him.

He needs to back off promising to borrow 1.2 trillion dollars only to give it away. When I say back off, I mean pic related.

Bond traders don't find that kind of thing funny amongst people that owe 40 trillion already.

The most likely future scenario is that the government debases the USD to ease their debt burden. Therefore, you can bet against the USD and the odds are in your favor. Another, but much less likely scenario, is that government healthcare spending is gutted to make room for interest payments in the budget
>>
>>543214864
well, if you work backwards, 80,000 today, with inflation and all that, would apparently be 20 grand in 1983

The last time house prices seriously softened here the government initiated a massive programme of "housing market restructuring" basically compulsory purchase ordered ("eminent domain" I think this is called in the US) and demolished as much as they could get their hands.

Houses have risen from x3 average earnings to x8.2 since.

This was under the guise of "slum clearance" which people remembered post-war but instead of replacing slums with upgraded cheap housing it was just "luxury flats" (tiny, no storage space, not designed for human habitation) for Saudi investors.

Depends on how its handled. A news reporter asked trump about the increases and if they had any plan to combat it, he responded with this
>"We have many types of intervention. That's one. The ultimate intervention is our military, and if we have to use that, we will."
if trump was thinking, or intending, to have the military shoot the 10 year bonds, or bond traders, is unknown.

So the point of this circus being that when bond prices go down, yields go up, meaning that bond prices continue to drop as no one is buying them? Rising inflation also means rising interest rates, which attempts to cool consumer spending and a rising economy, but higher bond yields can also help bring down inflation.

The problem here is that this reflection of the rising bond yields historically is a huge recession signal, showing a lack of confidence in the economy. Am I grokking this Jewish sorcery yet or no?

From my perspective the USA has always been in collapse. This isn't some sudden event. This is a long process that began before any of us were even born. You can look at significant events in all of our lives. We suffered through the 2020 covid crash, the 2008 bailout, the 7 consecutive undeclared wars, 9/11, the earlier dot com bubble etc.
You can't really point at any point in my experience and show the USA in really outstanding economic success.

This is just a low point in a steadily declining depression that has lasted my entire life.

At some point you run into the Marie Kondo problem; you may decide that overall the government needs to be smaller, but when you look at each individual piece, you don't want to throw that particular one away. You get to the end and you've thrown out nothing. You want to cut regulations, but each regulation seems to be there for a reason. You want to cut spending, but every bit of spending has someone dependent on it who seems to be doing something of value, or who at the very least you can't afford to piss off.

To actually cut things out requires a level of brutality, a feeling that you don't care what happens next, this shit has to go. The same masculinity that cuts down trees to create a farm, a masculinity woefully lacking in individuals and in the system as a whole.

If you reduce the range of fhe vertical portion of the graph even further you can actually make it a straight line.

Also if you wanted to make it look totally flat you.xould just incrasw the range by a ton so all of your data points fall within a. Roughly straight flat line.

The reality is the half a fraction of a percent doesn't mean anything at all; they number routinely vary within a range that is significantly larger than that.

Basically I have to invest or my money withers away due to inflation. I have to earn more on investments than the inflation rate. I can buy stocks or bonds. These are the 2 main entities competing for my money. If the government is willing to pay a GUARANTEED 5.125% per year on my money why should I gamble on the stock market and private companies? To me it looks like the government is trying to compete with the stock market which it must see as about to really explode. That's just how I see it.

It is, yields are a measure of trust and when it increases as little as 0.1% it's a massive change down the line. It's true that the yields used to be greater, but those were before the zero-interest times. Now the system is cracking due to a myriad of factors, foreign governments are dumping bonds and in order to attract investors the yield needs to increase and in order to pay for those increases in the future you have to print more dollars. 5% is the conventional wisdom that things get fucky, which is why there are shills in threads like this

Treasury yields growing by 0.1% in less than a week is utterly catastrophic.

Treasuries are supposed to be zero risk investment. They have the lowest returns in the entire market for a reason. Look at the graph, treasury yields barely ever change.

And the US government has to roll over 20+ trillion dollars in debt every five/ten years. 0.1% to the debt of the global hegemon and the largest national economy on Earth is insane.

Not even 3rd-world countries see such rise in debt cost. It is a mark of severe distrust from investors.

Cool story memeflag. My point is that if the government is offering 5.125 on my money then that's my baseline. It's guaranteed. If they default then I've got bigger problems to worry about than dollars in my back account. I have physical silver, gold, and stockpiles of food and ammunition. You can get all faggy and metaphorical and tell me that currency is fiction because you don't have any. But if you legitimately have a better way to protect from inflation I'd like to hear it. My skepticism tells me that if the government will give me this much for my money then they must know there are better options for larger returns. Meaning I bet the dow as a whole is about to grow huge. There's surely a tracker that checks new money entering the stock market. I bet it's bigger than ever.

Also I do see the downsides, taxpayers will ultimately foot the bill for the interest. Is midwit the new buzzword at shareblue? Have y'all at least changed the name from shareblue yet?

>Federal Minimum Wage: In January 1950, the U.S. minimum wage was set at $0.75 per hour.
>Price of Gold: The average market price for an ounce of gold in 1950 was about $40.25.
>The Labor Ratio: It took roughly 53.67 hours of minimum-wage work to earn enough to buy a single ounce of gold back then.
>Current Gold Price: Gold trades at approximately $4,305 per ounce
>The Calculation: If you apply that same 1950 work-time ratio (earning 1/53.67th of an ounce per hour), today's hourly pay would need to be around $80.22.

Ok you seem sincere so I will give you a sincere answer.

First, in terms of where to park your money physical gold is always the safest bet. You could, as you mentioned, buy treasuries. But this goes back to the OP; yields are rising because nobody wants to buy US debt. If you think this is just a temporary blip (and it very well could be), then by all means load up on T-bills and collect your free money.

But the schizo doomer thesis is that the world has determined the USA is a deadbeat and is telling the feds to go fuck themselves. Our entire nation (if you can still call it that) is based on people being willing to lend us money, so if the spigot really is cut off then it is going to get ugly. But again, this is the schizo doomer thesis. What gives me pause is that the schizo doomer worldview appears vindicated in the post-Epstein/Iran era.

You guys completely misunderstand the implications. It doesn’t mean “they don’t trust the US to pay the bonds.” All it means is they’re identifying better returns elsewhere.

Not to tumour weaks everyone, but it is starting to be time to make some 'oh shit' plans. The problem is, were are they going with this?

They know mathematically the US can't and isn't going to pay the National debt. The interest this year was $900B, it i will be $2T next year and they can no longer borrow. The game is up for run a deficit and increase the National debt. That gives you two options; default on the debt or debase your own currency through hyperinflation and pay the debts with inflated dollars. Debasing your own currency when it is the world currency is pretty messy. So, probably a default is declared at some point, which would be instant. This leaves your country somewhat intact rather than a long rundown where everything fails.

What does a default do. You obviously don't get more credit. You lose all foreign assets like in a bankruptcy - foreign businesses, land leases, oil wells, property, army bases, etc. etc.

Beyond that what do you need? You need to be able to have your required imports. You need raw materials - Canada and Venezuela. You then need to safeguard your homeland - Greenland and the Panama canal. All of the armed forces come home and the guns turn outwards.

gold is the safest bet
if you want to have a simultaneous hedge and a potential moonshot, buy silver. Has all the same properties that makes gold valuable, but has incredible upside potential. Enough to melt faces. I put good odds on the flippening happening, at least for a short window.

Kek. That's the highschool-level thinking that got you into that mess to begin with.

DOGE didn't work because it was full of retards. On the team they had a 19-year old whose only work experience was being fired from an internship because he leaked sensitive data.

Putting someone like that in charge of government oversight because his daddy donated money to Trump is some CCP-tier bullshit.

In the end the only thing DOGE did was remove all the bodies that were investigating Elon's companies.

We can't really see what you have to pay us with. Like youtube premium or some more data analytics on facebook or a bit of international girl bossing isn't going to cut it. You been getting by on bullying for 25 years and that's over. We would be willing to cut a deal but you've promised everything to boomers

Thanks. That contradicts nothing that I've said. I agree that things may go completely tits up but I'm not stopping everything I'm doing because things are scary. Of course I'm older if I've achieved what I've claimed to. I've seen this doomer mentality forever. I've been part of it. Nothing's going to happen. It never happens. The thread makes more sense from the doomer lens. Here's an outlier, it's proof that the world is ending, let's rejoice! I'm sorry I brought my literal concerns into the Armageddon watch party. I'll just go grab some popcorn and watch with everyone.

Anon, I hate ZOG as much as the next guy. But you memeflag turdwordlers need to understand the schizo doomer thesis, while more credible than it has been in the past, is still fringe. As cringe as ZOGmerica is, the chinks and the russkies are even worse. Yuros aren’t even part of the conversation anymore. ZOG very well could persist for another 50 or even 100 years.

only to goys hopelessly suckling on the tit of the system. Accepting for sake of argument that China, Russia and the yuros are all broke faggot retards as well, that doesnt mean that the US just wins by default. Maybe if the US was actively setting itself on fire while shitting its pants and flipping the bird to the entire world all at the same time, we would be fine. But we have not only lost all credibility on the world stage, but all fear and all respect. We have nothing left except debt and resentment.
Hope you have enough canned food.

In your first post you said you didn’t understand the OP and that yields were rising “to compete with the stock market” which is why I called you a midwit. And to be fair, you still seem like one notwithstanding your success. Maybe you are an unironic boomer which would be pure pottery.

In any case, the big question is why are yields rising? Is it just because of our temporary political situation? Probably. OR are the schizo doomers about to be vindicated yet again?
>>
>>543223934
>ZOG very well could persist for another 50 or even 100 years.
I can't see that. Timelines are hard though. The militarized extinction burst begins now. The paper game is over. That's why I'm hiding in the third world. We just hit 5.2

I appreciate your honesty so will engage further. There's a dislocation on the market today. Stonks should be going down and gold too as bonds crater; but they shrugging it off as if it's already priced in or the dumb money thinks stonks are a refuge

Ha. A lot of people forget that the thing that propelled Ron Paul to the national spotlight was when he said that our problems with the Middle East were caused our occupation of the area. Giuliani went nuts and freaked out on Ron Paul. The crowd cheered and was totally in support of what he said. There was even a moment on Fox where a talking head stated that Ron Paul should be barred from any future debates at the same time that a graphic underneath showed the result of a poll naming Ron Paul the winner of the debate.

All of this could be avoided if Flight 93 passengers simply stayed in their seats..
