I used to be very upset that society seems to run out of roles/archetypes for old people starting from 65. Career is a great, substantial cope that prolongates the period of being needed/relevant, but after 65 (late end in a very prestigious careers, for most people the end is 50) you only have your children to live through.

But I personally have been living through my hypothetical children starting from 13 (I am 20 now). By 13 I ran out of the curiosity I had, life started feeling dull(not cldepression level, just childish interest dissapeared).

I am a diagnosed autist and even tho I learned to mask better with age but I am more confused than I've ever been about simplest social roles. When I was a child I at least expected a profound, interesting solution. So, when do you think life in a sense of being yours genuinely ends? I think it's around 13

Life after 30 is a slow-motion suicide without family. It's all the negatives of getting old; watching your friends drift away as they start their own families, your parents and siblings getting old and die, watching everything in your life slowly putter out as the magic fades; without any of the positives of things like family or community to shore you up. Everything rots away and you're left with the bleakness of oblivion, no hope of anything continuing. Anyone who has experienced considerable ageing among his family members (or already in himself), knows how blackpilling it is. It's really rough, once people pass their early 50s (or sometimes even sooner) you start to notice the slip-ups, forgetfulness, the declining of fine motor skills, the difficulties understanding new information. Human existence is a tragedy, there are so few years that you are allowed with full mental and physical strength. Your peak years are mostly wasted with education, where you have barely any control over your own life, because you have little to no money nor autonomy. Add to that the time spent sleeping, working, hygiene, housework, shopping, appointments, visits to the workshop - what do we have left? Everyone who has to work for a living basically leads a precarious existence, regardless of whether they are a simple worker or a well-paid employee. Before they have built up a comfortable fortune and a well established understanding of the world, the body goes downhill.

actual hardcore physical alcoholism, alcohol replaces food for your body, it will actually reject actual food, so, maybe
monks used to live primarily on this super thick ass beer
>>
supposedly they still ate though, so, doubtful they were full on alcoholics like my dad was, anytime he ate he would puke his guts out

It's also worse when the people you live through are more distant from you. It's a one thing to live through younger sibling, it's worse to live through a child, it's horrific to live through a grandchild ,it's hell to live through a great grandchild. It's not just genetic closeness, it's the fact that no one gaf about their great grandpa and can talk to them normally

Genuinely wtf did she do starting from 70? She lived 44 additional years while being irrelevant to her family/society with no hope to ever change it, watching movies about people younger/more relevant than her, reading books about them

Jesus Christ shut up you sullen fag lol, stop wallowing in misery and flinging it at whoever dares come near, you'll say shit like this then breathe a big sigh of relief, eat a tub of ice cream then goon until you pass out next to your cat, life is fine, the body decay doesn't happen nearly as dramatically if you just take care of yourself and maintain a low BMI
>>
>>543581325
Body decay is manageable, how do you deal with losing cultural relevance
>>
>>543581367
Who gives a shit about that?
>>
>>543581367
you never had cultural relevance, the culture itself had relevance, and you were just the demographic it was primarily aimed at and in the right age range to be able to adopt it as being "your culture", when really it's just you going along with and identifying with what's relevant at the time because you're supposed to
>>
someone like Cobain for example had "cultural relevance", still does but when he killed himself and before his was huge; almost nobody who was a fan of his alive at the time had the relevance
>>
think what you actually meant was an ability to relate to the relevant culture of the time, and south park touched on the loss of this
>>
>>543581552
There was also a hope to become relevant when you're a child. Technically most popular culture is aimed at young adults, most series are aimed at mixed groups, but it has the strongest impression on children. Like most pop music includes sex distribution yet the only adult females who are obsessed with it are retarded (delusional that they might become popular stars one day or something)

everyone thinks they're some huge potential star and has to deal with the reality that's this incredibly small percentage, and mostly has nothing to do with any talent but luck and connections
but it's not always that limited a time range, there's lots of actors who never get anything approaching any kind of cultural relevance at all til very late in their lives
>>
>>543581862
What do you personally live for? what do you prioritize in your daily life
>>
>>543582062
my own enjoyment, above all
there's literally 0 (zero) reason to be miserable at all if you don't have to be, if there's no reason to, everyone's life is increasing physical misery past 65+ anyway it seems
hyperfocousing on shit you have zero control over anyway does nothing no good
>>
>>543580924
>but after 65 (late end in a very prestigious careers, for most people the end is 50) you only have your children to live through
Leslie Nielsen mogs your theory

>slowly putter out as the magic fades
The magic doesn't fade. You can fall in love at 60 just as you did when you were 16. Excitement and enthusiasm are just around the corner.

I actually retrieved my sense of life being my own in my late 20s, but in my early 20s it did feel like I was losing myself. You have not developed enough love for yourself as you are to get back to that joy, since conditioning has gotten in the way. You’ll make it though, just keep going!
