POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
Protect against hazardous wind having possible limited impacts across
eastern and northeastern Mississippi. Potential impacts in this area
include:
- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored
mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.
- Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or
uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are
shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.
- A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban
or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on
bridges and other elevated roadways.
- Scattered power and communications outages.

Elsewhere across Central Mississippi, Northeast Louisiana, and
extreme Southeast Arkansas, little to no impact is anticipated.

* FLOODING RAIN:
Protect against dangerous rainfall flooding having possible significant
impacts across the Golden Triangle area. Potential impacts include:
- Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt several evacuations and
rescues.
- Rivers and tributaries may quickly become swollen with swifter
currents and overspill their banks in a few places, especially
in usually vulnerable spots. Small streams, creeks, canals, and
ditches overflow.
- Flood waters can enter some structures or weaken foundations.
Several places may experience expanded areas of rapid
inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage
areas. Some streets and parking lots take on moving water as
storm drains and retention ponds overflow. Driving conditions
become hazardous. Some road and bridge closures.

Protect against locally hazardous rainfall flooding having possible
limited impacts across East Mississippi.

Elsewhere across Central Mississippi, Northeast Louisiana, and
extreme Southeast Arkansas, little to no impact is anticipated.

NWS Mobile AL
SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

Major Hurricane Isaias continues to move towards the north near 17 mph
and is forecast to make landfall along the coast of the western
Florida panhandle this evening as a damaging hurricane. It is
important not to focus just on the center as the wind field will
expand by landfall, resulting in significant wind impacts and a life
threatening storm surge along and to the east of where the hurricane
makes landfall.

Peak storm surge inundation of 6 to 9 feet above normally dry ground
is possible along the coast of the western Florida panhandle.
Evacuation orders have been issued by some coastal counties and you
should check with your local emergency management agency for the
latest information. The time to evacuate is quickly closing as water
levels will peak this evening.

Those in the hurricane warning need to prepare for damaging hurricane
force winds of 74 to 110 mph, potentially stronger, especially across
coastal Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle. The strongest winds
will occur near and just to the east of the center. Potential impacts
from these winds include numerous downed trees and power lines,
significant power outages, and some roof damage. Tropical storm force
winds will spread well inland with hurricane force gusts likely into
south central Alabama as the center of Isaias quickly moves north.

Rainfall totals of 4 to 8 inches are expected across southwest
ALabama, south central Alabama, and the western Florida Panhandle.
Localized amounts of 10 to 12 inches are possible in bands across the
Florida Panhandle and near the center track of the storm. Areas of
flooding are likely if the higher amounts are realized, with
considerable impacts possible. In addition, there is an increasing
risk for tornadoes as early as this afternoon and into tonight east of
where the central Isaias tracks. The greatest threat will be across
the western Florida Panhandle and south central Alabama.

Not to shit on you but Real Florida anons live at least 30 miles from the nearest parking garage. But you're entirely right. Right now one of my cars is parked within walking distance right at the point where I eyeballed 6-7 feet of storm surge above sea level. The rest (including trailers) is further up the street on a property that's 40 feet above sea level. It would take a Katrina level hurricane to flood that lot where they're sitting. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to stay up late into the night to make sure the water under the house doesn't rise to knee level, at that point I'll have to go move my SUV.

Nowhere, hurricanes reach all the way up into Georgia. That being said, we who live on the coast go to extreme lengths to weather storms. My home is 20+ feet in the air on concrete pilings and we have a whole storm-prep routine for keeping things safe. >>
>>544061067
I worked at a shelter in 2008 for Gustav and Ike. There wasn't any of that because we had the state police there. They were all detoxing and frequently had to be taken to the hospital, though. After they raided the kitchen and food storages, the National Guard arrived to police the place. They destroyed the bathroom facilities almost immediately. It was fun because the media kept showing up to interview people complaining how we didn't have facilities for them, and it's like yeah, you destroyed them. We bussed you to a high school, and you destroyed those shower facilities, as well. We brought in portable shower facilities, and they destroyed those, too. They would grab a bottle of water, take a sip, and then toss it on the ground. We kept asking people please don't waste resources like this, but nobody would listen, and we couldn't stop them. Then when we run out of water bottles, they complain. This was really the turning point that made me start to become racist.

It's dark as shit outside (and I'd have to go down two flights of stairs in the rain to get up close to the water), so no pics unfortunately.
But the water is just lapping at the top of my neighbor-across-the-canal's seawall, still a good 1-2 feet before it comes over the top of mine. His house is at ground level (at least, the bottom floor), whereas mine is 21 feet in the air. Still nowhere near flooding his yard, especially mine, just a very, very full canal. I'm staying up into the night for high tide just to see if it suddenly floods over.

I tried to tell people not to get hyped by the kike media. The worst damage I've seen is a shed moving a few feet and some road blockages from power lines and branches. On Max Velocity's stream someone was on US98 and he exclaimed "look at all the damage" because a sign was knocked over. The power wasn't even out and the traffic lights still worked.
