A new law came to be in effect in Finland in 1. October

The law allows digital identity

But digigtal identity is not yet ready, it will gradually appear during 2027

https://vm.fi/-/eurooppalaisen-digitaalisen-identiteetin-lompakon-mahdollistava-lainsaadanto-tulee-voimaan-lokakuussa?languageId=en_US

>You need a smartphone, identity is inside
>It works in many ways one of which is a passport
>Other functions include digitally signing documents by just a few clicks with a phone

We already have it.
If you have a biometrics capable phone, it links your government ID to your Apple or Google ID, and you use passkey (fingerprint or face unlock) to login to government services and such

https://www.myid.gov.au/

It's a good idea to have a dedicated phone for this. A "government" burner phone you don't use for anything else
>>
And why do we need this? We already have a digital ID with online bank accounts that link to your phone.
