What I’ve learned since my limited return to watching WWE in 2024, I ask these questions when a title changes hands:1. Does the wrestler need the title to elevate them?2. Does the wrestler’s win elevate the title?3. Does it provide closure or progression of a storyline?For this one I would answer no to all 3. I would also note that Sami winning hurts Solo’s progression and his great heel work. Are Solo and MFT being shifted over to RAW? That was the only purpose I can see for this nonsensical change.

Lyon was an ultra hot crowd and Sami is more or less the only French representative there, so you have this giant reaction in the palm of your hands.2. Jacob can finish his feud with Solo without winning the title back. If Jacob wins the title back who’s beating him? When you’ve got guys like Aleister and Carmelo who probably need it more than him, Jacob is gonna be fine without the title. 3. Sami moved over to SD for a reason. If he had been traded to SD, just to job to Solo, it would’ve been a waste.4. There’s more mid card heels on SD to work with than babyfaces. Solo’s remaining feuds would’ve been Priest, Truth, and that’s pretty much it for singles babyfaces that you could have even remotely interesting rivalries with. For Sami, he has Shinsuke, Santos, Miz, Aleister, Carmelo, in addition to babyface-babyface feuds and Triple H will probably end up using Sami to put over Carmelo.
