The difference between NJPW and DDT is that NJPW seems to be run like an actual business, a sports league, whereas DDT really does feel like a family business

except poor Ueno who looks like a sad puppy
but wrestling can be done in grandiose places and back in your yard it's just a matter of prospettive.
I like both DDT and NJPW but people look at them for different things but clearly they could inspired each other, and i don't mean njpw focus on comedy and ddt on serious stuff lol
>>
>>18702922
>NJPW seems to be run like an actual business, a sports league, whereas DDT really does feel like a family business
Well no shit, one is a forever indy with a loyal roster and the other isn't. At least DDT is doing its thing right unlike New Japan right now.
>>
>>18703509
Furthermore, most of the Japanese companies are pushing their younger talent... unlike NJPW.

DDT has Ueno and soon MAO, AJPW has Anzai & The Saito bros, NOAH is rehabilitating Kiyomiya and struck gold with OZAWA. NJPW has a deeper roster than the competition and no desire to push any of them.

The right thing like?
>>18703536
I guess because DDT like other companies has a bigger 20-30 roster than NJPW and over the years they dedicated to make side project to cultivate it and make a fanbase like DNA (ueno, mao, shunma, iino, higuchi gen), the DDTteen and now DGeneration with their underage and early 20s roster
>DDT has Ueno and soon MAO
MAO is already considered their top player, i think even before Ueno imo

Why keep Murashima and Daiki stuck in the young lion status when they have a very strong personality and talent, that's the problem not just having literal terrorists ias bookers

As a casual DDT fan; I have to ask: How is MAO considered their top guy?

Higuchi has more tournament victories, more titles and more main events to his name. Ueno has the same amount of tournament victories as MAO, but he's had more main events and held the top title (not to mention he held the midcard belt longer than MAO).

Just looking at Peter Pan... I don't see how MAO is their top guy. Higuchi main evented both shows, and Ueno headlined the main show opposite Higuchi. MAO failed to recapture the midcard belt.

NJPW is pushing its young talent at an absolutely normal rate.

Go look up Tanahashi returning from excursion and how long it took him to become the top guy. It was hardly instantaneous but you're all a bunch of casuals and don't understand that NJPW makes its young guys suffer basically like nobody else before finally putting them over. Only NOAH is slower.
>>
>>18703918
You are not wrong about that, but it's not all about numbers.
The perception of MAO being face of the company alongside Ueno cemented in the years after Takeshita left since they kind of represent the two faces of the promotion (no wonder last year before WPP Ueno talked about him and MAO being DDT's spear and shield).
But I think Ueno handled more officially than him the "face of the company" part because MAO like do things in his own way, which is why over the years they let him move abroad to gain more popularity there because average wrestler enjoyer like flippy shit. Which is the reason he said post BOSJ he wasn't interested in the KO-D title and after some time decided to try to get back Universal since its "his" belt.

Kek sorry for the tl;dr off-topic
>>
>>18704509
what young guys are you talking about?
They are all 30 or near.
>>
>>18704613
That is a young guy and pro-wrestling these days. The only one that is old is Tsuji.
>>
>>18704576
Interesting... I appreciate the insight. It's all the more surprising that MAO didn't recapture the title then. As a Suzuki-mark I had assumed it was his time to job and put over MAO.
>>
>>18704509
The agonizingly slow ascent of Tanahashi was criticized heavily back in the day because NJPW didn't initially see him as champ material. Inoki pushed every failed MMA chump he could at the time and kept tossing the title in every direction to the point that he had to be forced out of the company.

Tanahashi's lack of push and abysmal treatment was a focal point in the argument against creative, and the textbook example of how NOT to book young talent. For you to use it as an example of the "norm" is hilariously ignorant.

Maybe you're unaware my friend but this is a pro-fujita, pro-inoki thread
>>
>>18705443
Inoki was badass as a wrestler, but he was a chump as a booker. He booked his champs in exactly the opposite manner that he booked himself. He always put himself in scripted fake shoots, then put his champs in real MMA matches. He was too much of a pussy to fight anyone for real, and only took cheapshots when he realized he was against a tomato can bum.

Fujita was fucking awesome, Takayama as well. Sasaki and Nagata did well during the late Inokiism days.

I'm talking about Tadao Yasuda (feel free to google) and the many aborted schizophrenic-booked champs like Tenzan > Nakamura > Tenzan > Sasaki > Sapp trading belt every other show. Going back to Tenzan when he was injured, dropping the title to Kojima on accident, and hilariously losing his company's belt to Lesnar because Inoki was too cheap to pay him! Lololol what a chump.

Liger wrestled full tours in his retirement year. The difference is the roster when he was retirement was stacked so all he really needed to do for big final matches was his last Jr title shot and the blowoff with Suzuki. Tana has a dire roster that's mostly dire because the booking he's in charge of is fucking garbage so he's doing shows where he has post billing in Kobe but his final match in the region is with a boring midcarder in match #2.

It's a little too late to do anything special at this point. AT BEST we either get Nakamura coming back for an "end of a generation" match at WK or more likely he lays down for one of the younger stars at WK... my preference would be Uemura. Gedo probably wants him to fight EVIL again at WK.

>How I would have fantasy booked it?
Fewer matches but make each match mean more, while protecting his body.

Guest matches in DDT, NOAH, AJPW, DragonGate, etc. Hell... see if ZERO1 or FREEDOMS or whoever want to host The Ace. I don't care how small the venue, or who he's up against, it'll mean a hell of a lot more for the fans than a lackluster GOK match.

Would see if WWE would lend Nakamura or even allow Tanahashi on a PLE. HHH is a mark, he'd probably be up for the idea.

If you put him in the G1 there has to be a reason. He doesn't have to win but at least be in the final match. His G1 was pointless, literally any anon on this site could have made more out of it.

The only one that sounds like Inoki booking is:

Shota Umino and Yuya Uemura vs Conor McGregor and Hideku Suzuki

...because loves putting his rising stars in matches where they'd be up against legit MMA guys, which exposed them and usually put them on the shelf with an injury. Inoki never protected his people, only himself. Hilarious when you find out what happened the one time Inoki tried to shoot on an opponent that knew how to defend himself... hint: Inoki was treated worse than Nash in '92
>>
>>18722005
I thought you wanted him to face stars you fucking mongoloid?
>>
>>18722025
>it'll mean a hell of a lot more for the fans
In what world? One where subumans with a BMI over 30 like you are a majority?
>>
>>18722025
>Nakamura comes back for WK, which is Tanahashi's retirement
>his match isn't against Tanahashi
What the fuck are you smoking, anon?
>>
>>18722075
Do you think a throwaway match against Master Wato will be remembered in 5 years... or even 5 days?

Tanahashi stopping by smaller feds and bringing them into his retirement celebrations would be more meaningful to the fans than putting in a 7 minute brawl with GOK in the midcard of a lesser show.

>>18722144
I said bring in Nakamura for the final match OR lay down for a younger star.
>>
I have no problem idea why you retarded faggots are fantasy booking nakamura for tanahashi’s final match. Nevermind the fact he’s a washed embarrassing jobber but he’s in wwe and would probably never be on a njpw show again so it’s pointless to give him Tana’s last match.
>>
>>18722227
>I have no problem idea
cause they need to draw. They have nothing going into 2026. They're banking on Humble Wolf saving them.
>>
>>18722025
Kys edrone
>>
>>18722227
Tanahashi is washed too, arguably he's in worse shape than Nak because he's wrestling a much more strenuous schedule.

HHH isn't opposed to working with other companies. He tried to work with AJPW and has repeatedly lent wrestlers to NOAH. They work with TNA, and now own AAA. WWE is the poison pill of the industry, they'll happily work with most companies because they know they can crush them at any time anyway but the perception of collaboration and competition makes them look better. It's like when Starbucks acquired their two biggest rivals BUT kept the names intact... they knew the haters would flock elsewhere if they rebranded but as long as they kept up the illusion of competition the haters would line their pockets.

If there was something in it for HHH, he'd absolutely lend Nak to NJPW for a day. The only company WWE doesn't want to do business with is AEW because it's run by children and dangerous pedos that want to groom children.
>>
>>18722236
Haven't watched a WWE show in 8 years now, but go off son.

The only thing that would get me to watch a WWE show at this point would be something shocking... like Tanahashi getting a retirement tour special match. Otherwise, WWE and AEW can die for all I care.
>>
>>18722217
Do you think a throwaway match against Kenoh or Jun Saito will be remembered in 5 years... or even 5 days?
>>
>>18722283
Hmm... well, I still remember Tenryu making appearances in over 12 different Japanese feds in his last year of wrestling, and he was FAR PAST his prime... so yes.

His joke match against Dino this past week will be remembered far longer than his match against Masatora Yasuda back in April.
>>
>>18722232
Is there anything that says nakamura is any sort of draw in 2025? And even if he is that would be for one show so again pointless for the future.
>>18722259
Kys edrone
>>18722275
If you don’t watch it then why do you Tana on a wwe show you stupid faggot
>>
>>18722324
The novelty of seeing Nakamura back in a NJPW ring after a decade abroad would be a draw. Seeing two guys that made each other having one last match at the tail end of their careers is a draw. It doesn't matter to you because you probably didn't even start watching NJPW until after Nak left.

I called WWE a parasite and you insist I'm an edrone? I said they poison and profit off of the industry but I guess that's not negative enough for you? I shit on AEW as well, but you don't seem to be defending them? Could it be that you're a tribalistic weirdo trying to console war by proxy?

The novelty of seeing a wrestler I like being given a send-off by another company is interesting to me. He never did anything for WWE, he never helped them, for Tana to be invited to wrestle on a show would be an act of respect. It's sort of like when WWE brought in Liger for a one-off match... it didn't do anything for WWE but it was a nice gesture.
>>
on everyone's souls streets need that Je'Von Evans vs Tanahashi match fr ngl bruh
>>
>>18722392
Nak vs Tana would be a fine match but stupid as a retirement match. Sorry I’m not letting nostalgia cloud the fact that current Nak is a washed embarrassing jobber in wwe.

I have no idea what you’re rambling about but I actually only watch njpw and recommended matches from other promotions.

Your idea of novelty is seeing Tana lose to some wwe shitter? You’re right it wouldn’t do anything for wwe but it wouldn’t do anything for njpw either so it’s pointless
>>
So how do we cope "NJPW is dying" bros?
>>
>>18722581
Japanese wrestling is dead, there is no point of multiple generals here
>>
>>18722599
/puro/ is a cope general for NJPW seethers who go on about how DIMES Ozawa is and what a big draw etc

of course they all already post ITT, seething about NJPW and AEW constantly
>>
Yota Tsuji fucking sucks.
>>
muh record profits
>>
>>18722672
i mean it works when there's ridiculous people claiming that ozawa or anzai are secretely huge draws
>>
>>18722581
it's not as grim as people here make it out to be but it's not good that they're only up 3k from last year despite running a second dome show
>>
>>18722724
>actually +3000
>GRIM IT'S THE GRIM 1 IT'S TRANNYHASHI GRIM GRIM GRIM
>>
>>18722672
but that's what you fags are talking about, you're always posting attendance numbers and shit

you started "muh record profits," you just hate hearing the truth about your second-tier puro indy feds and your little joshibug feds getting crushed by Stardom
>>
>>18722724
>>18722736
those numbers are horrible, insanely low
Small indie shows everywhere else in the World are doing better numbers, not even talking about name promotions
>>
>>18722581
How and why the fuck did big japan and 2aw run that many shows

sad part is i think he also makes the threads, kek
>>
>>18722672
The only fans talking about profits and revenue are just stealth AEW and WWE fans trying to start proxy wars.

They seethe at the idea of a fan just enjoying the wrestling, and not constantly standing up to protect their slop merchant of choice.

Nobody is saying OZAWA is a draw.
Nobody is saying Anzai is a draw.
Nobody is saying Shun Skywalker is a draw.

They're saying they like those guys because they put on great matches. That's it. Do you think people are tuning in to watch micro feds like MUTOHA because they think it'll blow up and become a worldwide brand?
>>
>>18722975
>>18722771
2000 per show with cooked up numbers is abysmal.
There is no way to defend those numbers, compared to the actual big wrestling promotions.
>>
>>18723184
>They're saying they like those guys because they put on great matches.
Yeah those guys saying that Ozawa was a giga draw because he sold out Korakuen for a GHC title defense definitely didn't exist you disingenuous moron
>>
>>18723184
Ok but ozawa and shun don’t actually put on great matches which just makes everything sadder.
>>18723230
What “actual big” wrestling promotions are you talking about moron?

kek you're a lying bitch

I was referring to actual people, not the imagination goblins that love in your empty head.

>>18723345
Neither are my cup of tea but the fans of this feds seem to get pretty loud for their matches.
>>
>>18723468
I could go back through /njpw/ and find plenty of posts of some retard saying NJPW is dead and Ozawa is a huge draw for NOAH, stop pretending to know what you're talking about and fuck off

>In addition to Hiroshi Tanahashi's retirement match at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's January 4 Tokyo Dome event next year, much attention is focused on the debut match of Tokyo Olympic judo gold medalist Aaron Wolf. President Tanahashi shared his impressions: "I’ve been devoted to my duties as president, so I haven’t been able to go to the dojo to practice, but I’ve heard reports that he comes to the dojo and trains hard. He has a very serious personality, and you can see he’s earnestly striving to become a pro wrestler."
>Meanwhile, his coach Yuji Nagata said, "He’s working hard. The other day, he was throwing and being thrown. I’m teaching him all sorts of things. He’s getting bruises on his back—he’s really putting in the effort. That’s about all I can say for now. There are still four months until his debut, so I hope he keeps working hard. Success? Without a doubt. He has to succeed."
>Masakatsu Funaki, who returned to pro wrestling from the world of mixed martial arts, is set to hold his 40th-anniversary event on September 21 at Sky Building Stella Hall in Umeda, Osaka. On July 31, when he appeared on ABC Radio’s "Masuda Okada Masuda no Radio Hunter," he was asked about Aaron Wolf. "There’s no question he’s strong, given that he’s an Olympic gold medalist in judo. However, strength alone isn’t enough to succeed in pro wrestling," he said, drawing from his own experience. "Since he’s strong enough to win a gold medal, he probably hasn’t often had techniques used against him. Whether he’s afraid of taking moves is one key point." He also touched on stylistic awareness: "Modern pro wrestling is fast-paced. Will he think he needs to move like that, or will he stand firm and respond to his opponent’s moves?"
>In judo, if you throw your opponent for an "ippon," the match ends there. But in pro wrestling, the action continues from there.
>>
>>18723487
>Some wrestlers transition into submission holds or ground techniques, while others immediately go for elbow drops or body presses. Some run toward the ropes to launch attacks. Even when knocked down, you must get up quickly to avoid taking continuous damage.
>Moreover, in pro wrestling, moves like shoulder throws or being thrown from the top rope often involve falls from heights of over two meters—situations that don’t occur in judo. These aspects also require careful attention.
>And above all, Funaki emphasized that the most crucial point is "whether he can develop his own signature move that leverages his judo experience." While techniques like the armbar, the sleeper hold, or moves incorporating the ō-soto-gari come to mind, the key factor is whether the move is "original."
>Naoya Ogawa, who transitioned from being a Barcelona Olympic silver medalist, developed a move called the STO (Space Tornado Ogawa), an adaptation of the ō-soto-gari, before his debut. He made a successful debut by defeating the then IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Shinya Hashimoto, in his first match (though the final finishing move was a sleeper hold).
>This move involves slamming the back of the opponent's head into the mat and is one of the judo techniques most suited to pro wrestling. However, as Funaki stated on the program, "Even if you change its name, if it's the same technique, the impact will be diminished."
>This marks the first time in Japan that an Olympic gold medalist has transitioned to pro wrestling, generating significant public interest. Because of this, his debut match is unlikely to be against an easily defeated opponent. With the January 4th Tokyo Dome event scheduled for a prime-time broadcast on TV Asahi, a disappointing performance could have long-lasting negative repercussions. In a way, this single match carries the risk of determining his entire future success or failure.

you Bushidrone faggots never get it
New Japan being first by far is nothing new, they always have been except for a very short amount of time in history
they should always be first but it doesn't change the fact that puroresu as a whole is in the shitter and that Grim Nihon's attendance numbers keep getting lower
they had 2 Dome shows on a week end this year and they still manage to get worse numbers than last year, it's not something to be proud about but you subhuman faggots won't get it until Grim Nihon actually dies

>>18723619
MMA has outdrawn wrestling in Japan for almost 30 years. Comparing Japanese wrestling to MMA in 2025 is the most gay dishonest argument you can make, and all so you can act like you're seething so hard you're ready to shit your own pants

You hate NJPW
You do not like a single wrestler in NJPw
You do not belong here
and you got BTFO by NJPW crushing your gay NOAH drone fed
and Stardom crushing your second rate bug fed

seethe, cope, jibber all you like but these are facts
no more (You)s
>>
>>18723648
MMA has been in the shitter for a while in Japan too
difference is they have draws and actually get what people want to see, that's why New Japan is the Grim era right now meanwhile Rizin is thriving only by booking some twinks with 3-5 records
the rest of your post is just a schizo meltdown, I told you puroresu as a whole is dimeless and they won't get better because they're too scared to change from the dimeless formula they've ran into the ground years ago already
