The funniest part about all this ratings talk is no one understands the Nielsen ratings are predicated on estimates. Only a small number of cable boxes in the Nielsen system have any data tracking for what shows are watched, and that’s used to estimate how many total viewers a show has. The ratings have never been accurate. Meanwhile, being able to see the viewership numbers on YouTube or a streaming platform’s backend are exact. I would bet WWE had closer to 600-800k viewers for Raw while it was still on cable, and SmackDown may barely be cracking a million if that. Dynamite probably only has 300k real viewers tops.So if you’re using ratings from Nielsen, you’ll never be exact. The digital viewership numbers are a real decline that can be discussed though.
