Why has one site done so much irreparable damage to this medium?
>>18725099if it was a true database then they shouldn't include ratings since wrestling is subjective not objective
Meltzer Derangement SyndromeRacismReactionary politics
>>18725099Autists need a scoreboard for a fake sport like Minecraft fags need to imagine they live in their creation
>>18725099But enough about X.com
funny how cagematch was a fine place for 2 decades until mentally ill consolewarriors got triggered by it
>>18725099study the cagematch and get back to me
The fact that people worship reviewers and reviews for wrestling, music and TV/movies is grim. Imagine needing the opinion of meltzer, fantano, ebert, letterboxd, rateyourmusic, cagematch or some random twittertard to enjoy something
>>18725099Cagematch is a place for complete retards with horrible taste in wrestling to gather and pretend like bad matches are good. This isn't a problem in and of itself, but at some point wrestlers and bookers started to become such absolute marks that they began to take Cagematch ratings seriously and then it became a big fucking problem. Catering to the Cagematch retards is a surefire way to produce utter garbage.
>>18725099Full of retards that think they know how to book but given a chance to run a wrestling company would run it into the ground in months if not weeks
>>18725099Asuka shitting on Cagematch might be one of my favorite things a wrestler has done this year.
I think Cagematch is good taken with a grain of salt. It's a useful database, and ratings tend to be a good indication of stuff that's worth checking out.The mistake people make is using it to rank things. A match with a "7" doesn't mean "mediocre" - first off, "7" is supposed to be pretty good, but also second it can mean the match just has divided opinions. Same goes for wrestlers. Also important to note that most WWE superstars are ranked really fucking high on there, it's not nearly as anti-WWE as many detractors think.
>>18725099The person who runs the site has exactly zero pride in making sure reviews are good faith. You can go to almost any show/match and see reviews like this>Rassle Fan wrote on 02.09.2025:>[4.0] "I watched my Tar Heels get crushed 48-14 and I'm still glad I didn't choose Raw. For some reason when a crowd hijacks the show in Europe it's "passion and excitement". When it happens in North America it's "DUH EYE DUBYA SEE CAINT BEEE HAPPEEE" What a nothing show with some really average to below average matches.">PR wrote on 02.09.2025:>[4.0] "Matches were at best just fine. Once again way to many interferences or botched finishes. Some of the promos were fine to set up what is next but went way longer than they needed to be."-----A large amount of reviews are just copy/paste jobs that don't mention any specific matches, segments, promos, nothing. Just one faggy Cagematch retard user who knows he will face zero punishment for writing such a shitty "review" so it's worth dragging down the company he hates, WWE, because there's only upside and no downsideUntil the retard tribalist dickface running Cagematch cleans up the shitty users like this, the website will continue to do nothing but cause gAyEW fan rage because the reviews/ratings encourage dickhead tribalism and do nothing to filter spam/garbage
>>18725099It hasn't. But just like Dave stars, AEWtists have to abuse it as one of the only means of a finding some sort of metric that doesn't stare them dead in the face and tell them how utterly unsuccessful AEW is
It's literally Tony's fault for validating them. Vince knew to never mention any mark publications or websites.
>>18725099I think the ratings are valid if people understood that wrestling is also an art
>>18725099The literal entirety of the online wrestling fanbase in 2025, including Cagematch, consists of zoomer e-drones, and yet the same people who haven't gotten over the 2015 Royal Rumble crowd still find ways to whine about Meltzer and smarks. It's like manbuns, juul pods and mumble rap. That shit peaked ten years ago. It's already been phased out. Entire new things have came along and ruined everything since then. Get with the times.
>>18725290This. Absolutely nothing wrong with the site. Look up your favourite guy and I can almost guarantee they will have a fair and just rating. There's a lot more console waring fags now, but most of the site is very knowledgeable and fair. If they rate something great then it usually is pretty damn good
>>18725486Yeah.Don't use it to rank shit, obviously. But if a wrestler or match has a "9+", they usually belong in the same conversation as other wrestlers or matches that are "9+".It's not meant to be scientific or anything.
>>18725099You can go farther, Meltzer is above this
>>18725191Why do you know so many revioooers?
>>18725099but enough about Meltzer xwitter account
>>18725191that part
>>18725099Yeah WWE killing pro-wrestling is the fault of a german website known by like 10000 people worldwide.I hate E-tards
>>18725191I don't blame them necessarily. In most things 90% of it is shit and the other 10% is great and no one wants to wade waist-length into a pond of shit trawling for something good especially when in it's the media they consume with their limited free time and money. So they try and use reviews as shortcuts like you or I would yelp/google reviews to find a good restaurant. The problem with this mentality is when it comes to wrestling the match itself is only a small fraction of the total program's value. The buildup bouts, character promos, feud/angle events, etc. all contribute to the total package. Otherwise it's a totally heatless affair like Cornette often complains about because wrestling is not fighting it's suppose to be more than that.
>>18725161This sums it up pretty well. Perfectly normal place for 90% of wrestling... absolutely putrid shit if you want to look at 2020~ WWE/AEW shit. It's a reflection of /pw/, reddit, etc. All the normal faggotry of console wars that has infested the internet. If you're curious about Ted DiBiase's Midsouth matches or his time in AJPW it's a great resource. If you desperately want to upvote your slop shop's most recent event, it's a festering rancid puss hole. Keep being the dilator holding the wounds open you console war faggots.
>>18726006Pro wrestling is alive and well, that's how WWE went from being USA-only to being on Netflix, Peacock, ESPN, USA and CWIt's Tony Khan's fault he wanted to suck off Zaslav and not shop his properties to other willing, receptive partners
>>18725486>Look up your favourite guy and I can almost guarantee they will have a fair and just ratingThat's not true if you're into older shit. All sorts of wrestlers who should obviously be beloved on a match-oriented site like Scott Steiner, Bobby Eaton and Ricky Morton have a lowered average because of retards from 15 years ago rating them a 5 based on their later work. It's funny.
>>18726006Tony killed his own show and he should kill himself for fumbling all that good faith and hype he had the first few years. He brought CM Punk for christ sakes and he fumbled everything away simply because he couldn't be humble and ask for help.
>>18726738In all cases you mentioned guys who were predominantly celebrated for their tag team wrestling. Look up their respective teams and you'll see much higher ratings.
>>18725099Germans, man
>>18726738Steiner was washed in like 98 bro what do you expect? Check his reviews, I bet a lot of them mention how good he used to be
