Do you shoot care about tag teams? At all?
>>18737878Yeah
You now realise that you rarely see Tornado tag rules in modern tag matches
>>18737878The only time I ever cared about tag-teams was for that brief moment in the early 00s when WWE had the Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian and The Dudleys.
>>18737878The Dudleyz retired so, no.
>>18737878Anon, I shoot do not care about wrestling at all, I just watch it because it's fun.
>>18737878some of them yes, but we need more dedicated teams with a shared gimmick. when its just two singles guys thrown together with no story behind it, most people won't care. Tony and Gedo need to realize that tag matches without those two elements are inherently dimeless. As for WWE, they actually think the Usos are top tier. LOL. My current favorite teams are the Brothers of Funstruction and the Slimeballz.
>>18737878No, Vince was right about them being dimeless.
I like tag teams, but Vince wasn't wrong about them. You have double the problems and get less of a return than you do with singles matches. It's really only a thing for midcard wrestlers. I do like tag team wrestling though and I do think there's room to do more with it.You also have to do tag team wrestling right when you do it. The teams need gimmicks and managers. You can't have makeshift teams winning titles. You should never do the "two feuding wrestlers with the tag titles" trope. And even the two best singles wrestlers put together should not be able to beat established teams. You also constantly need new teams coming in and out to keep the division fresh which isn't cheap or easy to do.
>>18737878it's actually my favorite kind of wrestling, but the last decade has only had a handful of teams worth a shit and hardly any of them are on the same roster at the same time
best tag teams ever imo:>Road Warriors>Rock N' Roll Express>Freebirds>Demolition>ICP>Midnight Express>British Bulldogs
The only time I care about tag team matches is when it's 4 main event stars that don't normally tag together doing a 1 off match
>>18737878The problem with tag matches is that they're so formulaic and boring most of the time. That's a problem with most modern day wrestling as a whole, but tags especially. You're always getting the "heels cheat with distracted ref" spots. You're always getting the corner double teams. You're always getting the cheap shot during an irish whip. You're always getting the hot tags and the "ohhhh so close" hot tags. It's just too boring and stale as a match concept.
The truth is that tag Team wrestling is at its best with 2-3 actual teams mixed in with singles guys teaming up. More singles guys should win the tag belts and slide into that role for a bit.
>>18738164current NJPW is proof against that. all they have is singles guys teaming at random and it's driving away their audience in droves.
It's time to admit that tag-team is only fun when we enjoy the gimmicks. we don't actually care about whether or not the in-ring is good, we just enjoy the pops from great mic work and spot monkey finishers. you could argue that tag groups are way more athletic these days, but the teams from past gen were shoot over with us.Edge couldn't spear for shit, but we still loved his character.
>>18738169Main event or at least upper midcard singles guys. AEW's best tag teams are all that.
>>18737878No all dedicated tag teams are anti dimes and mogged by every single time two faces and two heels are in the ring and get made to be tag teams for the main event.
>>18738185AEW's tag teams are all shit except the outrunners and the bucks.
>>18738203>mogged by every single time two faces and two heels are in the ring and get made to be tag teams for the main eventWhat?
>>18738092those are the worst tags lmao
>>18737878NXT Tag Division from late 2023 to mid 2025 was absolute kino. I can extend that range further if you're okay with the Gallus intermission (and New Day actually being entertaining)
>>18737878No
