why was his WWF debut so underwhelming? Getting the title with nobody caring, shit storylines with bossman, gets sent out for training for half a year only to come back in 2001 to win in the lowercard hardcore division against raven (lmao)
>>
>>18801548
Nigga he got himself over huge when they tried to bury him with the dancing babyface gimmick in 2000. The move to OVW to "lose weight" was just cope on Vince's part when his plan backfired
>>
He was always dimeless. He's just a big guy (4u) who never had anything past that. Even in WCW he never really got over even though they constantly put him in main event storylines
>>
>>18801548
Uh did you not watch or something? He jobbed to Stone Cold in his debut match. He flip flopped between heel and face constantly. All in just a few months. He also won the title from a very unover Triple H in 1999.

Forget what you know about HHH now. HHH's first title run would be like the equivalent of them giving the belt to Grayson Waller or Bronson Reed right now. Although obviously HHH had way more potential upside than both. Also coming off of WCW he was getting jobbed out on his way out there too.

Show's great. I think he's someone who people will appreciate more as his career gets further in the past.
>>
>>18801579
He was definitely over as The Giant in WCW until the frequent turns finally got him. Him defending the WCW Tag Team Titles by himself was really over.
>>
>>18801635
He was never as over as Savage, Sting, Luger, or Goldberg even though they gave him multiple pushes where he basically single handedly took on the NWO
>>
>>18801650
Yeah that's true. I do think booking is still at fault. They booked him a schizo even in WCW with frequent turns. 1996 in particular was horrible booking for him with him basically turning into Hogan's big buddy after he screwed him out of the belt.

Despite everything WCW still booked him better than the WWE largely. Outside of 2002-2003 and in ECW with Heyman. Those were his most protected runs in WWE.
>>
>>18801650
He was certainly more over than Luger from late 97 onwards. that niggas heat was GONE and he never recovered from losing, unlike Giant who just needed to signal for the chokeslam to pop the hillbillies in Atlanta
>>
>>18801548
I think Taker once said that Show could have gone down as one of the best big men ever if he stayed in shape and wasn't so damn lazy. When motivated and physically fit, he had fun matches against guys like Sheamus, Roman, and Orton.
>>
>>18801683
There is no version of Big Show that stinks up the ring worse than an out of shape Undertaker in the year 2000. Fat Big Show > Fat Undertaker
>>
>>18801548
They made him look like a retard from his first moments on screen and then they gave him the awful short hair look there instead of his long hair he had before. The shit with Boss Man was ridiculous as well, Big Boss Man was great at his job but I don’t think anyone ever came out well after his storylines
>>
>>18801683
agreed with >>18801699, undercarder really has no business trash talking big show. He was the KING of no selling and laziness in the same time period. Guy was single handedly carried by his legacy.

Scott Keith reviewing Fully Loaded 2000

>Kurt Angle v. Undertaker. Brawl outside to start. Into the ring, Nash…er…Undertaker drops an elbow, but picks him up at two. Suplex gets two, but again he picks him up. Whew, good thing, because I don’t think Angle could survive that devastating vertical suplex. Angle tries a sleeper, which goes nowhere. Emerald City Slam gets two for Diesel III, and Angle gets tossed to the floor. He finds his cartoonishly huge wrench and clips the American Fatass with it. Back in, Angle works the knee as the Great and Powerful Oz gets to show off his range of selling by laying on the mat and going “ouch” occasionally. Wow, way to put over the new talent, Mark. Poochietaker comes back and they slug it out, won by Taker. What a shock. Chokeslam and the Poochiebomb finish at 7:36. Retire now, you crippled, has been, slow-moving, fried-food eating, motorcyle-riding, no-selling, tobacco-chewing, no-money-drawing, talentless piece of selfish SHIT. Kurt Angle is the future, you are NOTHING. Deal with it. And take Kane with you when you go. I’m sure the idiot rubes will cry and email me asking where you went again for eight months the next time you leave, but I’ll be happy to see you gone for good, where you can’t drag down any more PPVs.
>>
>>18801699
Big Show at his fattest is still better than most years of Undertaker until he finally got a clue in 2007. Taker's good, but he got lucky with a very good gimmick. And credit to Taker, he was great at portraying it.

>>18801738
I'll defend Ministry Taker for the cringekino but yes, 30 layers of denim to hide his manboobs and beergut Taker is the WOAT. His match with Kurt Angle at Fully Loaded 2000 was a level of cancerous that Triple H would've thought too on the nose.
>>
>>18801746
>and take kane with you
But why? Kane was actually one of the few big guys that DID put in the work physically, was a scary monster (as scary as you can be when you've got Vince booking you post-andre) and had no issues putting others over.
>>
>>18801746
The complete smark 180 on Taker and Triple H was hilarious to see in action over the years
>>
>>18801746
kek you beat me too it

This thread proves /pw/ has no idea how the business works.

It’s a fucking work lmao. Big Show was trained by Kevin Nash. All that matters is the money and the miles.

Big Show was signed to the biggest contract ever when he went to the WWE. $10,000,000 for 10 years.
>“Oh you need me to burry a jobber again this month? Yes sir! You need me to be a jobber this month? Yes sir! Hey thanks for the 8 figure deal by the way!”

I don’t think Big Show gives a fuck he was fake fighting Maven for the fake championship when he was making $20,000 a week. Do you? It’s a WORK.
>>
>>18801746
Scott Keith is the first Carder poster kek
>>18801766
I think people finally watched the old matches or something I swear
>>
>>18801765
Kane didn't get praise from these virgins until somebody started a rumor online he had Jewish ancestory. Meltzer was all like "he stinks and adds nothing" to "Oh he's improved SO MUCH" by late 2000 on his radio show
>>
Dimes look when he was jacked
>>

>why was his WWF debut so underwhelming?
Because unlike WCW the WWF actually had stars. Not only did they have them but by the start of 99 the entire card top to bottom was over. No one was begging for WCW names to come over to the WWF. So him just being there alone wasn't going to just automatically get all of the spotlight. He also wasn't going to be able to just walk in and get handed a spot at the top when every guy is scratching and clawing to keep theirs
>>
>>18801848
Shut up zoomer you weren't even alive when he debuted and grew up with the New Day
>>
>>18801791
That's all fine, but no excuse for gaining 150lbs.
>>
>>18801848
WWR revisionist history lol. Reminder that WCW still had pretty consistent ratings (higher than any modern program) and was killed by the Internet bubble popping

“WWE killer WCW” is just revisionist slop

>no stars
Look again, WCW stars were still household names when they got sold

>He also wasn't going to be able to just walk in and get handed a spot at the top when every guy is scratching and clawing to keep theirs
He literally walked in and got the biggest contract in wrestling history. Lol. You’re getting WORKED
>>
>>18801848
anon... he literally just walked in and got handed a fat contract and the WWF title. The issue is the booking after that, with the silly storylines, face/heel turns every other week and his own lack of motivation
>>
>>18801894
>he literally just walked in and got handed a fat contract and the WWF title
No he didn't. He debuted at St Valentine's Day Massacre and didn't win the title until Survivor Series of that year. Which by that point both Undertaker and Austin were gone so they had spots to fill. The best they could give him for the Mania after he debuted was some bullshit with Mankind who deserved way better
>>
>>18801880
>WCW stars were still household names when they got sold
LMFAO
>He literally walked in and got the biggest contract in wrestling history
>>18801894
>got handed a fat contract
Money doesn't equal a spot. They also gave Mark Henry like a 15 year contract when they first signed him. By your logic I guess that means he was the face of the company

A WWF title win and a Wrestlemania main event was literally written into his contract so yes it was handed to him
>>
>>18801650
>never as over as four of the most over guys of all time
thats not really a big insult
>>
>>18801548
because he was too busy hiding in my walls to get his fat ass in shape
>>
Being big just didn’t mean much without an equally big personality. He had to be the big silly so would love him before he became the worlds largest athlete and we could fear him.
>>
>>18802018
Pretty sure that's just a myth and never been confirmed.
>>
>>18801620
This, H only started getting over during his second reign
>>
Became dimeless as soon as he cut his hair and started wearing awful shirts like >>18801818 and picrel
>>
Stone Cold jobbed him out right away on raw
