The WWE AAA shows are fast becoming the best wrestling shows monthly

Is lucha shows fun? I'm not just talking about AAA or CMLL but lucha shows in general.

Do you find a bunch of mexicans who all look the same doing flippy shit fun? If so then go nuts.
>>

Yes, but AAA improves on the formula by having actual storylines and heat and a more diverse roster so you aren't watching the same movez over and over again ad nauseum. CMLL and indie stuff can have some good shit, but trying to watch full shows every show gets tiring.

CMLL does have long term storylines and heat. What AAA adds to the formula is a much bigger focus on title matches. CMLL usually builds up to a mask/hair match to blow off their big feuds (though AAA does those as well, Penta had a great one a few years back). Those can get really heated.

Yeah, CMLL does have storylines of course, but they are way fewer and far between and usually don't have the same depth and heat. Lucha is mainly a live attendance based business but AAA has been running like a tv show based business for a while and it pays off in storylines. Again, CMLL and indie stuff has great stuff, but watching AAA is much easier if you are a casual viewer as opposed to someone who just loves lucha or movez.

What's actually even more interesting is the fact that AAA also worked with the El Rey Network on Lucha Underground.

I found this one to be a bit dull. I think it's becoming more and more WWE-ified each time and the specialness of it will eventually be gone and it'll just be yet another WWE developmental type show.

This AAA show kind of sucked IMO. They need to fire Konnan that fucking is just annoying.

I don't agree with this line of thinking where the reasons to enjoy a match are either the out-of-ring angles surrounding it or the specific offensive maneuvers.
I'm not a MOVEZ fan, nor a huge fan of the post-90s style of wrestling storytelling. I enjoy atmosphere, crowd work, emotion and watching wrestlers play off each other (dynamics, styles, gimmicks etc) and CMLL past and present has a lot of what I like.
I wouldn't want someone who's otherwise interested to be scared off from checking out such a historically fun promotion with legitimate casual appeal (though more on the live side than TV) by selling it as though it's a dry workrate fed. It gets a lot of the same unfair dismissals as 80s and 90s Japanese wrestling, which is also great for plenty of non-Meltzer reasons.
