tony is writing the promos isn't he?
>>

Her gimmick is beyond stale, why is she still hogging the belt?

Well she's right about the spanking part.
>>
>>18840952
How many times is she gonn say that promo? And how long is she gonna be the women's champ? Tony killed the women's division with Toni and Mercedes. He needs to introduce the women's tag titles ASAP when enough of them are healthy again and run an inaugural tournament for it. Would bring some new life into the division.
>>
lmao @ the slop aew trannies eat up holy shit
>>
>>18840952
Am I the only one here who thinks that's actually a good line for what her character's supposed to be?
The funny thing is I don't watch AEW but I'm aware of her gimmick. I think the line works for her
>>
>>18840962
Her stuff is all written by RJ City word for word. Which means it’s too clever for a wrestler to say but it’s still pretty funny
>>

She's by far the best thing AEW has. She won't turn anything around but at least she isn't killing the company like MJF and Mox did.

this is every promo of hers for the last 2 years

she will not evolve beyond this
>>
>>18841404
Talking like this doesn't actually fit with the classic movie star character though. Those famously had to hide behind innuendos and even then were frequently censored.

Toni Storm herself sure as shit doesn't understand old Hollywood and RJ City's grasp of it is either questionable or he's just bored of it but Tony doesn't want to move on from it
>>
>>18841404
What does sexual innuendos have to do with 1920s starlet?

>>18841747
People don’t evolve in AEW, MJF is still using the cheap heat worked shoot promo he’s been doing for the last 6 years

She's talking like a newsie from the 1930s but is being filthy.

It's way too esoteric and advanced for e-drones, the kind of artistic expression that sails right over their heads. As this thread proves, of course.
>>
>>18841742
She really is just doing his schtick. It comes off as more cringe though, maybe because it's raunchiness for the sake of "woman empowerment"
>>
>>18841981

HAve you listened to any popular music within the past five to ten years?
In this day in age this kind of thing is sadly what is popular

I don't understand this gimmick at all. She's supposed to be a mental case who thinks she's a starlet from the golden era of Hollywood, but then she's also this raunchy aggressively sexual strong empowered woman? Is this some "trope subversive writing" shit that liberals are obsessed with or what? What is the point of this character? Who is this for?
>>
>>18842119
So she actually did say this cringe?
>>
>>18842021
>She really is just doing his schtick.
joel was actually funny
>>
>>18840952
Millennial writing is a second character criticizes her for saying all of that and she reflects in shame. Millennial humor isn't in the joke, it's in making fun of their own writing for making jokes.
>>
>>18841051
you’d know about a pig rolling
>>
>>18842021
It comes off cringey to me because the character used to be so much more. Remember when it was about her thinking she was some old Hollywood star? Because it sure as fuck isn't about that anymore. But when it was you could naturally slip in these offhanded lewd comments and it would add to the promos. Now they just club you over the head with them and that's all the promos are. With the path it's on I give the character another year until fans are sick of it or want her to go heel
>>
>>18840952
The gimmick we've found, has been run into the ground. The Toni Hogan show, getting ratings mogged by Blake Monroe.
>>
>>18842119
Flanderization is all it is. The sex jokes used to be sprinkled in her promos that used to be otherwise very character driven and focused on her being deluded with the golden era Hollywood stuff. Around the time she started feuding with Megan Bayne those sort of jokes quickly started getting used for cheap reactions and fast forward 6 months and they're the majority of what her promos are now
>>
>>18842252
>no u
that doesn't really work considering my legs do

It reeks of Billy Graham, but you're right, millennials and zoomers can't bust a rhyme in a positive way, it's always gotta be self-deprecating.
>"The man of steel, with the iron will"
>"I'm on all the airwaves, the soundwaves, I surf the ocean of emotion, I'm the electrifying lotion that goes with your love potion"
They can't do that.
They always do
>"I'm the tramp that gives you cramps, the crab that rubs your face in crap, the coal that smokes your foal, the garbage that hits you like a car, bitch"

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about
>Both the silent era and early golden age of Hollywood were rocked with celebrity scandals and raunchy depictions of sex and violence in films. In the early 1920s, there was public and political pressure mounting to create moral standards for motion pictures. The studios feared the increasing amount of film censorship bills throughout the United States, especially after the 1915 ruling of Mutual Film Corporation v. Industrial Commission of Ohio declared that laws of free speech did not apply to motion pictures. The studios decided to self-regulate the industry to avoid any further government interference.
>Postmaster General Will H. Hays was enlisted to create a code of standards. The Presbyterian elder formed a committee to discuss film censorship, in which they determined a list of “Don’ts and Be Carefuls.” The 1927 list included 11 topics that were best to be avoided entirely and 25 topics that should be handled carefully. It established the “Pre-Code” era of censorship in Hollywood.
>During the Great Depression, films that seemingly ignored the code were financial successes. Since there was no actual enforcement of the code, studios continued to ignore the rules to capitalize on revenue.

I haven't a clue about that.
James Brown's MC did the same thing to hype the crowd at every show though.
Bit of ballyhoo, I suppose. Except they were upbeat about it and younger people celebrate suffering and trauma.

She's not a Marilyn Monroe type of Hollywood gimmick.
Think more Lauren Bacall, Lucile Ball, Marlene Dietrich.
When you watch the movies actresses like that are in, you get the impression that they play typical effeminate roles straight out of a man's wishful imagination.
When you hear them talk in interviews, you get a completely different picture. They were matriarchs who didn't bend to anything or anyone, especially the likes of the Gabor sisters and Mae West.
They're women who genuinely believed they're better than other women, and not because of their Hollywood jetsetting lifestyle, no that was just another symptom of their capacity for arrogance.
And rather fashionably, they fell for the men who were better at that silly game than them, while hopelessly loving the men who didn't play it at all (Richard Burton, Humphrey Bogart) behind their husbands' backs.
