This is the destination for all based webms, brotherOn tonight's docket: NOAH N-1 Victory, AJPW Royal Road tournament, NJPW Battle Line Hokkaido and more!
Holy fucking cinema
So heavy. Looks great.
GO GO GO
Such a slick conversion. Ulka was my personal pick for tournament winner but clearly me and NOAH management look at him differently.
HUGE

BASED LIL DEFENDER OF NOAH
>>18913542>based webmsjust the way i like em
>>18914984>Based anonsHell yeah. Didn't need that knife straight through the heart in the form of the KONGO hoodie, though. I miss him.
>>18914060Ulka would have been an interesting pick, not my pick but I'm happy to see any fans NOT pick OZAWA. I've been signing Kitamura's praises for ages and he was my stubborn pick for winner. It made sense to me given his recent heel turn but I never trust NOAH to stick with a push... then he won! The N-1 was probably my favorite Japanese tournament in 2025. It wasn't perfect but it was better than the competition. The G1 had some really good matches but the result was terrible, and absolutely NOT what New Japan needs right now. The Carnival was lackluster, Royal Road was worse but at least it had a satisfying end.
What the FUCK did he mean by this? Insane.>>18915209Yeah, Kitamiya was my prediction too. I don't fully believe in Morris as a finalist but I think they might've had their booking kneecapped with OZAWA out.On the tournaments... Yeah, I guess. It feels like they were all hurt one way or another, injuries or weird-ass booking. I think I'd still pick the G1 because of Oiwa/Uemura being far and away the best match from any of them this year. I feel like the CC had the best lineup overall. Anzai/Kikuta/Suzuki/Kento is just a crazy strong core.
>>18915333I can't even bother to dislike Morris, he's just too bland to me. I was rooting for Kitamura on day 1 but with a touch of bitterness... but every day that went by and Masa winning more and more I just got captivated by the tournament. That being said, yes... Oiwa/Uemura was amazing and superior to anything in the N-1. The Uemura/Tanahashi match was also a strong "feel good" match for me, almost tricked me into thinking NJPW gave a shit about their future for a second. Had the G1 taken a chance on Uemura, Oiwa... or really anyone fresh I would have rated it higher. Call me a mark or hater or whatever but giving the nod to a wrestler that isn't even going to be around to book angles for is just asinine. NJPW is in desperate need of a homegrown star (really... stars, plural) and they chose the most dead-end of booking options possible.
>>18915333Regarding the CC, that stacked roster had me waving the AJPW flag in anticipation! I was telling anyone who would listen that the CC was the tournament to beat this year... I don't even know what happened. It was so weak and Saito isn't a main event talent. There were excellent matches (Miyahara/Suzuki, Mashimo/Miyahara, Honda/Anzai, Mashimo/Ashino, Kikuta/Anzai) but there were so many letdowns... I don't know, maybe I should revisit.
>>18915504>Kitamiya Brain fart
>>18915504I totally agree with you on the G1 points, the booking towards the final days was fucking insane, and EVIL in the finals is far from the biggest issue like some would have you believe.I can see getting attached to the tournament /yourboy/ wins in. I should also mention that the hardcam shows NOAH/AJPW run being absent in NJPW does a lot for me. I find it hard to get invested without proper cameras and sound.
love weekend webm chad, you just gotta!
>>18915633I'm not fan of EVIL but I was 100% behind him over Takeshita, if only because the booking had become some bonkers by the end that I just refused to accept the obvious winner. I try to keep my expectations low, especially as my picks rarely win... so it's hard not to mark out when one wins. Kitamiya was my logical fan pick, my lunatic pick was Fujita. He did surprisingly well. The only real disappointment was Morris in the finals, and that Galeno did well but nothing spectacular. I keep waiting for his first real star-making match.I can see your point on hardcam shows, particularly given your cinematic eye with these webm's. It must be stifling.
>>18916239I wouldn't be here if people like you didn't show up. Always a pleasure to have you, anon.>>18916247>my lunatic pick was FujitaBASED INOKIISTI like him and I think his booking was well-done, I just wish he wasn't so prone to coasting. I fully believe he has good matches in him, because he's got a killer presence still and can clearly get there if he puts in the effort. Here's hoping Suzuki can get it out of him, though I'm not very optimistic.
>>18916326Hell yeah, brother! A motivated Fujita would be a terrifying sight to behold, I'll always hold out hope. That being said, his best dance partner is someone that's either going to stand toe-to-toe trading bombs or somebody willing to shorten their career taking monster bumps for him. I am a massive Suzuki fan but he's not going to take sinister bumps for Fujita, not at his age. If Suzuki can dig out a performance like that GHC match vs Sugiura then it'll be a modern classic.
>>18916412>someone that's either going to stand toe-to-toe trading bombs or somebody willing to shorten their career taking monster bumps for him.The two reasons Nakajima got the best match in recent memory out of him. I adore that one. I also really liked the Kaito feud that came after and I liked his interactions with Odashima a lot.>I am a massive Suzuki fan but he's not going to take sinister bumps for Fujita, not at his age. If Suzuki can dig out a performance like that GHC match vs Sugiura then it'll be a modern classic.Suzuki can't go the way he used to but he can still put on one hell of a show. Just last year he got an AOTY contender out of Kenoh based almost purely on character work (and some slappa) and that's coming from a guy who's not a Kenoh guy to begin with. ...All that said I don't know if anyone can be a credible bad guy against Fujita.
That's the CHAIRMAN baby, ya gotta love him!
>>18916664I thought he was going to give her a suplex hahaha would have popped me
Next up is Kento vs. Nomura from the Odo Tournament as requested last week!
I liked this match (Nomura, mostly) but I don't really understand the praise (granted, I only saw that praise in my thread, but still). The hardcam probably bothers me more than most.
Next up are the semi-main and main event from the Odo finals!
Kawaii
>>18913542Haha time for the best thread of the week

>>18914752Hella based>>18917855>Always happy to have you here, bumpCHAD.Always happy to have your back
Such good selling from Honda.
I'm sure to most people this is a Kento match but Honda completely stole the show for me here. I think you just gotta get over that little "comedy guy" hump and it's clear how great he is. Just look at the intensity on his face!
>kento-era finnerman and peak jay white in the threadWhy are you shooting on me, lads?
LARIATOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>18918307Throwback weekend!
Closing out with the final three webms from last week's King's Road match!>>18918407>tana running somehow the most lost to time thing in that webmBros..........
What a fucking setup.
I'm sure everyone in the thread agrees with me and that it doesn't need to be said, but AJPW's "finisher into signature" finish structure is one of the best ever.
And finally, this little oddity that's actually from the same night as the previous match, the semi-main of the same show, Taue vs. Akiyama from 20.01.97!
>>18918479>>18918514Poor little Kobashi boy>>18918448>tana running somehow the most lost to time thing in that webm;_;
>>18918591>Poor little Kobashi boyThe closer we get to the 2000s, the closer he gets to becoming the ace. His suffering is almost over
Final webm for tonight, and more fuel to that growing fire that is Akiyama. Thank you all for spending some time with me tonight! Tomorrow I'll have Battle Line Hokkaido, more King's Road action, 2000s hosskino and maybe even more!
>>18918479>>18918514>>18918580>>18918618Wrestling really did peak with these lads.
>>18918718thanks as always webmCHADwhy the fuck is the board going so fast all of a fucking sudden jfc
>>18918722Seeing current All Japan juxtaposed with Baba-era stuff ITT is so brutal. It's not just that the work was so much better, just look at the crowds. It's so sad.
*sip*
>>18919178Compare any modern fed to the pinnacle from their respective company and you'll always be disappointed... and when the pinnacle may very well be the high water mark of the entire sport of pro-wrestling... kind of hard not to look like an inferior product. Just appreciate the modern things for what they offer in the here and now. Honda vs Miyahara was a good match for 2025.
>>18918075miss this motherfucker so much its unreal
If I may make a request: SUWAMA vs. Takayama (August 2009).It's one of my favorite finishing sequences of all time. SUWAMA grabs Takayama belly-to-belly and Takayama counters with a stiff headbutt that instantly busts him open. Takayama follows up with multiple kicks and punches and a suplex while he bleeds dramatically.
what if i were to bump the webm thread tho
>>18921813Delightfully devilishii>>18920798iktf
>>18920798He really was the goatHis match against Juice is my favourite oat
I'm back! Thank you all for keeping us bumped. >>18919711Based optimist. That's how I look at things too. There's only ever going to be one modern wrestling at a time and I'm going to try to support it as long as I enjoy it, regardless if the peak is in the past.>>18921208I've actually already done that one! Should be in the archives still, so have a look there. If I have time tonight I'll post it!
Every rip (FOUR OF THEM) I went through for this was crusty as hell, so this is as good as I can make these look, sadly.
>>18922845>peter griffin hurts knee.mp4
BASED KAWADAIST. God I love Ishii.
Eugh.
Bases, nased or basef?
Holy FUCK.
I really like this setup.
God damn the whiplash on this is gross.
>>18923305>>18923400I believe in Narita. I know many have written him off, and he's almost universally regarded as the least of the Reiwa Muskateers but I believe in him. I think Shota is a heatless geek and Tsuji is a flabby goof with zero gastank. Narita... prove me right. Rise like a phoenix from the ashes of EVIL. The true Reiwa Muskateers:UemuraOiwaNarita
The skirfing (or whatever it's called, I can never find a written source) is such a good touch. Brutal crank on the toe hold too.>>18923770I've never really written Narita off because I dislike doing that in general, but I can't say I really ever believed in Narita being a top guy. That said this build has been fucking FANTASTIC. Their match in the G1 was my second favorite from the whole tournament already, but the road to tags have been incredible. I fully believe that these two hate each other and Zack is at his best when he's going into a match with a chip on his shoulder.
I was honestly expecting this to be a 6-7/10, completely serviceable and in every regard fine title defense on a smaller show, but this angle completely sold me on it.
>>18924022This is one of the worst venues in Japan. It looks so empty and sterile.
>>18924022For those that didn't watch, Despy lets out the nastiest scream after this. It looks like he's getting up for a split second and then he moves his neck and just HOWLS. It's not an "ow" it's an "AAAAAAAAUGHHHHHHH" and it immediately drew me in because of how out of the ordinary for him it is. They follow up on it so fucking well throughout the match too.>>18924088I'd have to agree. It's bright as hell and the sound is bad, too.
big BOMBOCLAAT to you, webmbro
big ups to the webm massive booyakasha
>>18924231>>18924265Nuff respect irie island vibes mi bredren
The desperation in this is so good.
I caught myself genuinely gasping when this happened, I had completely forgotten about YOH's Anaconda Vice.
They hid this pretty well with the camerawork. Despy's nuclear bump helps too.
What a setup this is. And what a match! Definitely the most worked and unsure I've been about a finish all year.
Last of the current day action today is GLEAT G-Pro ver. 94!
>spit flying 3 feet into the airRIP lil bro
Junjie OWNS.
I'm as ready to shit on Joe Lando, indie guy #84912, as the next guy, but this is cool.
Next up is some good old hosskino that showed up in my recommended feed this week, featuring a very young Ishii vs. an even younger Daisuke Sekimoto, from BJW 02.22.05. It'll get stupid and stiff, so strap in!
>>18926407God what an insane dive, by the way.
Sekimoto looks so fucking worried throughout this entire match, I can't help but crack up at it.
>Ishii gets KO'd as divine punishment for throwing kicks.webm
Crazy air on this.
The speed he gets on these is so good.
This sitout's so cool.
So strange for this to not be his finisher. I'm not familiar enough with pre-2010s Ishii to say what his finisher used to be.
Your daily dose of LARIATO is here
>this ALSO isn't a finisherI like the finish to this match a ton, but it's hard for me to not consider this an upgrade.
What an insane finish. I always love avalanche moves ending a match, it just doesn't feel like it should come at the expense of other finisher-worthy moves.
Pants off from this point onward! This is Misawa vs. Kawada from 30.03.1997, the first round of the Champion Carnival and the least talked about of their three encounters from that year. And what a way to start this is.
Such a good escape, the desperation is sold so well. Really just hanging all his weight on Kawada's neck and praying it's enough.
>>18922845>>18922871Top kek
This match is hiding maybe the nastiest brainbuster bump in 90s AJPW, and Misawa's sell definitely adds to that. This looks a lot more like that one neck compression clip than the usual AJPW death sells and it's SCARY.
The biggest benefit of these lower res recordings is that it's way easier to fit in context for spots like these.
God DAMN.
Brutal.
>>18927965B A S E D
>this shit is somehow the third worst neck bump in the matchThese niggas were unreal.
The score for this match would read a draw, but the match itself is anything but. Kawada completely dogwalks Misawa from the first two minutes when he lands that backdrop driver, and essentially the only offense Misawa lands is what keeps Kawada from getting the pin in the final minutes.
That's all for me for today! I'm pretty happy with this week, good mix of styles and eras and I'm keeping pretty caught up despite being spread out over so many companies. Next week you can expect NJPW Destruction, Dragon Gate, GLEAT and most likely more King's Road as well! I'll see you all then. Maybe if the thread is still alive by the time I check in tomorrow I can dump those SUWAMA vs. Takayama webms too. Thanks as always for spending some of your time in my thread! I'll see you then. Goodnight, bros.
