This is the destination for all based webms, brotherOn tonight's docket: NJPW Destruction in Kobe, Dragon Gate, AJPW and more!
KAMIKAZEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Based Ishii putting 110% into the first 30 seconds of this match. I love him, bros.
>>18965841>>18965938Good to see that some wrestlers still use the fundamentals. I don't remember the last time I raw a regular suplex on raw
THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE SHORT KING>>18966096Boltin's all fundamentals. The flashest stuff he does is an F5, everything else he does is just based on him being a fuck huge grappling monster
>>18966001rip fales shoulder.
>>18966357Did he actually get hurt? It wouldn't surprise me if he did, but then again he's just as likely to just be out because another one of his third cousins kicked the bucket.
>>18965841>bomboclaat webmsjust the way we like em
This one's nasty. I'm sure it's not ACTUALLY to the throat but it sure looks like it.>>18966441Big up brother
>>18966398oh, no clue. i was just commenting on how he took the bump. lot of weight on his shoulder
>>18966499>lot of weight on his shoulderLot of weight on most parts of that man
>eita getting booed during his run-inLil nigga didn't deserve that. I get that he's an "invader" to most of the NJPW crowd but he's literally counter-invading after a title match for his home promotion's jr title where one guy stole his moves and the other promised to hold the belt hostage if he won. Eita's not a bad guy!
I am a little tired of this matchup by now, but I can't deny that these two have pretty great chemistry.
I like this Overkill, the less dramatic lift looks a lot better than the full vertical suplex lift in my opinion.
Says a lot about how these two wrestle that I mostly noted this spot down because one of them went down instead of no-selling.
I want more of this Shingo, less of MOVEZ Shingo.
webmbro I wasn't around last week thanks for clipping Kento/Nomura >>18916780>liked this match (Nomura, mostly) but I don't really understand the praiseI think it being the first match of the tournament helped, had people thinking it might mark a return to form away from the comedy show. I still have to watch the full match, might do that this weekend plus the final since someone else rec'd it in the thread two weeks back
>>18967722>plus the final since someone else rec'd it in the thread two weeks backHighly recommended, I liked it more than the Nomura match despite liking that matchup on paper a lot more. One of my favorite if not my favorite Honda singles match performance.
LAUNCHED
>>18967774Nice. I'll make sure to watch.
>selling the leg from the ring impact on a suplexGod, such a good detail to start this off.
I love this. ZSJ is so good at making his offense look really animated in the best way.
God DAMN the crank on this.
Such a good sell from Narita. Also this probably isn't a Clarky Cat but unless commentary explicitly calls it out or it's mentioned in the NJPW1972 writeup I'm not gonna bother figuring out what ZSJ decided to call this week's new submssion hold.
>>18965841I love how Fale just shows up in work clothes and does the match with no proper attire anymore
>>18968720He does actually wear a singlet under the shirt but that's only there to keep his gut in. But it's not like Fale's been anything except a test of strength attraction for the past almost-decade so you can't be too mad.
I like this finish, Narita outgrappling Zack for most of the match and losing because he tries to cheat. I was fully expecting the tag title to take MOTN for me but this pleasantly surprised me.
Next up's Dragon Gate's Gate of Miyane show!
>>18969230CAUTION: CONTENT WARNING, NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN OR PREGNANT WOMEN
I was unironically in tears watching this. So fucking stupid.
Dude looks like a live action muppet
>mochi's alter ego was "Oka Masaaki" (okama means faggot)>this was so offensive that english commentary refused to use it and instead dubbed him "Mama Masaaki"Unironically just made it funnier
God DAMN.
Look at him take his fucking TIME getting that pin. Ya gotta love the Beastster, ya just gotta.
Brutal.
Gross.
This gross crooked-neck landing here is nasty.
>just deadlifts himOne way to do it I suppose
I'm closing out with Akiayma/Hayabusa vs. Omori/Shiga from 6.6.97! Those paying attention might notice that this is a time jump, but I'm not sure I could fit the match that's actually up next.
Just INSANE.
>>18965841can you please do Bron Breakker mocking Jey Uso at 34:00 to 34:09? And crop it if possible from both sides. Thank you!https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9retjy
Akiyama's absolute blind rage whenever he encounters someone who is a ring junior to him is hilarious.>>18970734I'll get this done before I head off today. Thanks for the request!
>>18970734There's absolutely no way to crop this in a way that's satisfying. This is as close as I can get.
That's all for me for tonight! Tomorrow I'll have AJPW Giant Dream and plenty more pantsless King's Road action! I hope we can stay up until then despite bumpchad seemingly being off duty tonight. Regardless I'll see you tomorrow! Thank you all for hanging out tonight. Goodnight, bros.
>>18971050Looks great, thank you!
>>18971090thanks as always webmCHAD
>>18971090Looking forward to more
>>18971050
*sip*
bumping the bread
REQUEST: Ishikawa vs Okabayashi (5/5/16)Great match with lots of stiff offense. There's a spot in particular that stood out to me where Okabayashi does a spinning strike, Ishikawa hits the ropes, Okabayashi grabs his arm and rotates him, Ishikawa headbutts in response, Okabayashi collapses, and there's a perfectly framed composition of a middle-aged woman in the front row smiling and clapping in delight.
Thank you all for keeping us bumped! I'm starting out with AJPW Giant Dream.>>18973371This is a good suggestion, but I won't be able to get to it tonight. I found the match, but only with the whole show, and downloads from VK take approximately 15 years to do. I wanted to check out Strong BJ vs. Violent Giants at some point soon too, so that match sounds like a fine preview. You'll get your share of giant action tonight regardless!
>HAAAAAAAAAAAAA-CK
I really like how this is shot.
BIG
God damn. CRUMPLED.
FUCK YA NECK
It's good to have Anzai back, I missed him.
Welp. It was fun when he was around!
Leave it to Suzuki to get me invested in this match. Honestly really impressive.
I'm probably in the top 3 most sad on the whole board that Baka No Jidai lost, but I was pleasantly surprised with how okay this was. The challengers seem good too despite me just wishing Anzai'd get right back in the title scene.
Based illiterate CHAD
I like the struggle that always happens for this move. Makes it feel like a very earned finisher every time.
Last stop before our final destination King's Road is GLEAT's ver. 95 show!
GO LINDAMAN GO
STRONGHEARTS as a stable has the best tag team moves and that's all because Lindaman is the most based lil nigga ever
>>18975726Been meaning to check out GLEAT, any match recommendations for 2025?
>>18975249Devastated to see them lose... and the only positive is some more airtime for Ashino (hopefully). If this leads to Hideki vs Ashino in a legit feud, then all is forgiven.
Pants off from this point onward! First up on out King's Road agenda tonight is the three-way finals from the Champion Carnival 1997, and the luck of the draw pits Misawa and Kobashi up against each other first!>>189759222025 has a weird year for GLEAT, it's definitely not the best it's ever been. Tamura, who was arguably their biggest "home grown" star, has been gone for over half a year for unstated reasons, Onitsuka is on a full-year timeout and Nakajima has been suffocating both title scenes since he debuted. I think his match vs. Junjie (GLEAT Ver. 20) is the best title match in the reign so far.My recommendation from 2025 is the G-RUSH show from 24.01.2025, it's a one-night tournament for the G-RUSH belt, held under 7-minute, two-count falls, two rope break limit matches. It's novel and leads to fun matches.
>>18976000Thank you, Brother! I'll check it out.
SLICK AS FUCK>>18976000>Tamura, who was arguably their biggest "home grown" star, has been gone for over half a year for unstated reasonsAnd to add onto this, Watanabe, who was the other homegrown guy to get over with the crowd, finally get the title and ending the longest-ever G-REX reign, got jobbed out after 12 days and gradually gut turned into a comedy midcarder. It's just been weird all around, especially after how promising things were looking.
Pure car crash.
>>18965841That's what Fale looks like now? Jesus
Because of this weird three-way finals, Misawa is facing Kawada next and he gets ZERO time to recover. Dude is still catching his breath when Kawada starts going at him.
And for the final matchup, we have Kawada vs. Kobashi. You can tell Kobashi had the time to rest, but his match was a 30-minute draw against Misawa and Kawada put the same man away in just over 5 minutes. They're on fairly equal footing for the final of the finals.
Such a unique setup for a ripcord with that roll. Absolutely brutal lariat too.
Your winner is Kawada, and on 6.6.97 he would go on to face Misawa for the Triple Crown championship!>this is the match kawada got shoot knocked out inNot really surprising when it starts out like this.
And the nasty bumps don't stop there. Misawa don't fuckin' play.
Feels rare to see someone (not called Gary Albright) completely muscle someone over for a suplex like this in AJPW. Ironically this landing seems safer than 85% of Misawa's suplex bumps.
One of the coolest submission applications/subversions I've ever seen. The crowd, commentary and even Wada himself clearly expect a Backdrop Driver here and the crowd ROARS. So fucking sick and one of the clear reasons why King's Road booking was so sick.
This sell is one of those things that kinda takes me back a bit and it sets in for me that these fucking madmen just go out there and get shoot kicked in the jaw as a job. Just insane.
And just like that Misawa's back in. Particularly brutal knee drop here. And again, the cool thing with 90's AJPW finishes is that moves like this becomes way scarier. This ended a title match the same year.
Such a cool spot, because in the grander scheme of Kawada's sells this is COMPLETELY unexpected. He screams like a man possessed.
We show no mercy to green niggas round these parts
Based Fukuzawa screams so loud for this on commentary that it blows out his mic for a second. Popped me huge.>GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- ... TOSHI!
Because one wasn't enough, and neither was two, apparently.
You thought three was bad? Try four and an absolute murder brainbuster on the house.
You wanna play 5? Well I've got erubo.
Something about AJPW's dropkicks being 10x rarer than NJPW but also always seemingly hitting square in the jaw is hilarious to me.
Based Big K with a visual plea to that one gigabased ref bump just to pop the boys
>dropping the tiger hooks to hit the elbow and try againSick.
>shoot KO'dNot like you can blame Kawada. I don't think any mortal man would be standing five minutes into this match, let alone 30.
And because of Wada's refusal to count shoot pins, this is the improvized finish we get. I don't think it's bad at all, really, it's very similar to many planned AJPW finishes. The worst part about it is that the elbow combo would've been a perfectly fine finish on its own. It's far from the disaster some people like to pretend it is.
And that's gonna be all for me this week! We're already halfway through '97, and the Road will soon lead us to the Ark, though we'll be revisiting AJPW here and there in the 2000s, so worry not, all you 2000s AJPW defenders. Next week you can expect plenty of NJPW action with both Historic X-Over and the KOPW tour happening. I'm also going to attempt to cover NOAH and DG, though I don't know what I'll have time for with the relatively busy NJPW schedule. On top of all that you'll get at the very least one BJW match! Regardless of what does end up in the thread, you know there'll be 100+ fresh OC webms the same place you always find them. Thank you all for spending some time in my thread. Goodnight, bros.
>>18978083thanks as always webmCHAD
>>18978083I'm say only do the big cards where stuff is happening, also for NJPW. Like yesterdays Road To King Of Pro-Wrestling card looks like a fucking snoozefest imo
>>18978083thank you webmbro
let him cook
