Building your entire show around a heel world champion and not letting anyone else sniff the gold doesn't work in a weekly TV promotion like it does in the territories, WWE killed their whole business in the 2010s by insisting a heel be champion at all times so they could keep re-doing the Wrestlemania coronation for whatever top face they wanted to push that year only for it to crash and burn and for them to push the next top face into the meat grinder that is Vince's booking.
