>>19219724John Cena
>>19219724Lets think. SRS said he was going to post this last night after Dynamite which means he got the scoop from someone in AEW which means it has to be Okada.
>>19219724GUNTHER, unironically.
Umino
if i had to pick one guy i'd as opposed to a tag i'd go naito
>>19219791Yep, and Tanakashi is wrestling in Okada's hometown this weekend
>>19219791Nope, opponent was actually supposed to be announced at the Tuesday press conference, but it was delayed due to complex negotiations, because of who it is
>>19219846washed up bum
>>19219724It might be Shibata desu
>>19219724Meltzer confirmed they were talking to WWE
Tanahashi will win the Cena tournament and they will be each other's final match. Tanahashi gets to finally live out his dream of being in the same ring as John Cena and Cena gets to grant one last wish.
>>19219724AND HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA
>>19219871source?
Most likely it's Okada or maybe Kenny. Nakamura might be doable depending on how anal WWE is about NJPW's partnership with AEW. Cena might be willing to retire Tanahashi but I don't see that match being Cena's final match.
>>19220033Uhh... Meltzer?
>>19220059isn't tana's last match in january? cena has said 100 times the SNME in december is it. although, he has said it was his last time wrestling for WWE. so maybe tony throws a billy at him.
>>19219724Tony R Khan
>>19220069yea but where is the clip or quote?
>>19220059>Cena might be willing to retire Tanahashi but I don't see that match being Cena's final match.I don't know anon. Cena is a memer and Triple H "gets it". In a meta jokey way this would be Cena's final Make-A-Wish. Tanahashi has been obsessed with Cena for years and years, he even went through his gym phase where he tried to get and stay swole because of Cena. This would be a great final joke.
>>19219724IT'S ME! IM CASHING IT MY BRIEFCASE TO HIS RETIREMENT MATCH!
>>19220093
>>19219724Obviously someone in AEW
I think it'll be one of the guys off this list>Kenny Omega>Okader>Takeshita>Chris Jericho
>>19219724Unfortunately Okada.
>>19219871He didn't say shit he just said he was told their are tough negotiations happening at the moment then opined that it might mean it's not someone that is easily attainable, so either someone that's left NJPW (Naito), not in contract with NJPW but in contract elsewhere (Okada, Nakamura), or someone retired (who knows). It could also be someone like Shibata who NJPW refuses to clear for all we know
>>19220195Yep, giving that retirement rub to someone who doesn't need it and isn't even in the company anymore would definitely be in character.Dead fucking company.
>>19220059It won't be Nakamura for a few years>Nak wasn't a Tanahashi guy>Nak on NJPW would mean no AEW talent including their world champion>WWE won't allow it due to NJPWs relationship with AEW
>>19220195Okada and Tanahashi would be a great match and a good return to the promotion for Okada.Personally I hope it's Omega given Tanahashi fucking loves him AND Kenny is great at putting matches together for people's limitations.
Daniel Garcia also Tanahashi loses
>>19220206Okada returning to NJPW after a 2 year break would unironically put it close to a sellout at this point.
>>19220217Oh, don't get me wrong, absolutely. And it's probably what they'll do. It's just this feels like the type of shit that NOAH usually does. Don't get me wrong, I get needing the money. But it sucks to see.
>>19220217And he's like #3 choice at best for a final opponent
>>19220206Who did Great Muta give the rub to?
>>19220207Counterpoint: Tanahashi wants Nakamura, and he's the president of NJPW
>>19219724Insider here. Tony has deployed Blake Christian to go over Tanahashi in his final match, then be jobbed out for the next 8 weeks on RoH.
>>19220206>the retirement rubBeating a guy everyone knows is going to lose? Like Muto put over savvy young rookie Naito?
>Best possible match in terms of quality Kenny>Best possible drawing matchOkada>Best possible passing of the torch Takeshita>Wild card Gabe KiddTanahashi has a lot of respect for Omega. He was also brought to tears by Kidd/Omega at the start of the year. I can see him pushing for Gabe Kidd 2bh but I have a feeling it's a toss up between Omega and Okada. Okada returning to NJPW would probably be the best in terms of business.
>>19220515I honestly think Okada gives him the best match. Kenny requires his opponent to be somewhat athletic to have a banger. Okada can have a methodical groundfest and really work the "I'm a heel thing" now in front of the crowd.Okada's style of match is best to hide Tanahashi's flaws and if you've seen him wrestle in the last two years, you know he can barely fucking move and needs carrying.
>>Best possible match in terms of qualityKaito>>Best possible drawing matchKaito>>Best possible passing of the torchKaito>>Wild cardKaito
>>19220534See the thing about Okada is that he's a long match wrestler. He needs you to go 40 minutes to tell that story and make his spots matter. Kenny is adaptable, but Okada is good at ONE kind of match and I genuinely don't think Tanahashi has a 40 minute full pelt match in him. Kenny can work around anyone.
>>19220547Okada can carry him to a 20 minute match while making him work less than he would in a 10 minute match with Omega
>>19219724THE PHENOMENAL A! J! STYLES!
>>19220515Passing the torch to an overpushed TJPW shitter like Takeshita would be a huge fumble, and Kenny's dying, although I will concede Gabe Kidd or Okada
>>19220541yeah I loved his retirement match against mutooh wait... pfftthahaha
>>19220494I mean, it's a thing for a reason. Sure, it's a foregone conclusion that the opponent is going to win but the point is that the "retiring legend" is anointing the career of the guy who goes over him, in a sense. That's the reason a lot of people were pissed with the idea of Sting facing the Bucks going into his retirement.
>>19219853That may or may not be true, but Tanahashi may want his last match to be against one of his biggest rivals. And since it's been a while since he had a match with Nakamura he probably wants that to be his last match.
>>19220576AJ said he wants tana one last time
>>19220515>>Best possible passing of the torch>Takeshita
>>19220515>>19220577>>19220879I'm so over passing the torch. We haven't had a good torch passing in the last 20 years.
he's probably waiting for Tony to tell him.
>>19220728Who has meaningfully put a young wrestler over with a bitch retirement match? I can't think of anyone
Murder Grandpa!
Cena vs Ace should be both of their final matches.
>>19220870WWE would give it to him, Haitch was pretty open about sending AJ to AJPW
Completely out there suggestion but they should bring in that new Hayabusa guy and put him over. Njpw needs some new blood.
>>19220515retard, tanahashi vs. a returning naito would easily be the biggest drawing match they could make. but it's okada. gedo is involved, and tomorrow they are in okada's hometown.
Takeshita should really go full heel at WK and should bring in a faction of DDT boys to be outsidersHiguchi at the very least. Give me Higuchi in the New Japan Cup or the G1.
Who remembers the final Muto v Naito match where Muto spend 20 minutes on the mat having a rest
>>19219724me in a king sized bed match>>19219862they only let shibata fight him for 5 minutes lmao they’re not gonna let him have an actual match with tana
>>19219900Unironically
>>19220541What is it with weeaboos and pushing these generic looking peroxide blondes as the japanese top talent? Do you own stocks in that Okada clone factory? Flappy, unimpressive dimeless shitters - the salary men of wrestling
>>19219724People Joke but BMJ would be amazing.
>Nakameme>OkarderWhat about putting somebody from the roster over?
>>19219724AI Antonio Inoki
>>19221605He's been doing that all year, to the point where it's become a bit meaningless. Just let him have his big spectacle final match
>>19221693He shouldn't be losing to an outsider
>>19221083this. you ever pass the tourch in a retirement before the Flair retirement match made retirement matches a thing
>>19221626this and tanahashi loses in a squash
