>Before his debut, Inamura would go to the backstage after every match and stand there with his large frame, ready to be told to do any chores at any time, and even though he had no prior acquaintance, he would always bow his head and say "Otsukaresama desu" (Thank you for your hard work). Just seeing such a sight... a greeting is not just for that moment alone. It will definitely connect to one's future self and evaluation #noah_ghc

So, NJPW not doing it for me. Watch some joshi wrestling but looking to give the men a chance. I'm familiar with AJPW and NOAH but haven't followed either regularly in some time... who's doing better at the moment?
Not looking for console warring, just asking someone who preferably watches both.
>>
>>19237453
It depends on what you like. NOAH is a bit closer to NJPW in presentation right now which alienates some older fans but I'd still say they've had a pretty good year with the rise of OZAWA, Inamura's return, and the N1 was probably better than the G1 or Champion Carnival this year though some people still find Team 2000X tiring. AJPW is more traditional and has a smaller budget but I think their roster is looking healthier than it has in some time and the booking has been pretty solid. Kento's defenses against Go Shiozaki and Hokuto Omori were both really good plus AJPW has some strong young talent in guys like Yuma Anzai. I think both are doing good things but the two promotions are going in very different directions.

Just looked him up, it's a cool story. You have to figure he'll be in NOAH when he retires from sumo. From July:

>Nishinoryu Becomes the 14th Father–Son Pair of Professional Sumo Wrestlers
>—Will Wear a Kesho-Mawashi Gifted by the Late Mitsuharu Misawa—

>The Japan Sumo Association held its banzuke (ranking) meeting on July 30 at IG Arena in Nagoya, announcing four new promotions to the jūryō division and one returnee for the upcoming Autumn Tournament (opening September 14 at Ryogoku Kokugikan). Among the newly promoted wrestlers was 24-year-old Nishinoryu (Sakaigawa stable), who spoke at a press conference from the stable’s lodging in Fusō, Aichi Prefecture. Having finished the Nagoya tournament at East Makushita #5 with a 5–2 record, his promotion had been uncertain. “It still doesn’t feel real,” he said. “I had a bit of hope, but I was mostly thinking, ‘Let’s just do my best to move up next tournament,’” he recalled with a smile at the unexpected news.

>His father, Shigekazu Shimomura, runs the chanko restaurant “Nishinoryu” in Osaka and is a former maegashira who wrestled under the names Nishinoryu and Nishi no Ryū. The pair now form the 14th father–son combination of sekitori in sumo history. “My father reached jūryō at 25, so I wanted to make it up sooner,” the younger Nishinoryu said. “I’ll be 25 next month, so I just made it.” His next goal is to surpass his father’s career-high rank of East Maegashira #12.
>>
>>19241978
>He also bears a special connection to the late Mitsuharu Misawa, founder of Pro Wrestling NOAH. Misawa was close friends with both Fujigane Oyakata (former komusubi Daizen) and Nishinoryu’s father. During his lifetime, Misawa had gifted a ceremonial kesho-mawashi embroidered with the NOAH logo to Fujigane, telling him, “When Shigekazu’s son becomes a sekitori someday, give this to him.” True to that wish, the kesho-mawashi remains preserved at Nishinoryu’s family home, awaiting the day it returns to the spotlight.

>Feeling the weight of that inheritance, Nishinoryu admitted, “I’m not sure yet whether I’ll wear it—it feels like such an honor. But I do remember meeting Misawa-san when I was little. I don’t really know baseball, but I love pro wrestling. Of course, I’m a NOAH fan.” Nishinoryu first took up sumo midway through his second year of junior high school, long before he could have imagined a professional career. Now, carrying Misawa’s legacy and his father’s fighting spirit, the fiery Osaka-born wrestler known for his intensity will bring his trademark “kiai!” to the dohyo this autumn.

>[ZERO1] Hayabusa burns with phoenix spirit despite loss to NOAH’s Kaito Kiyomiya: “If no one else takes action… I will.”

>ZERO1’s “legendary phoenix” Hayabusa spoke about what’s to come after his latest battle.

>At the November 10 Korakuen Hall event, Hayabusa was defeated by NOAH’s Kaito Kiyomiya.
>In the interpromotional showdown between NOAH and ZERO1, Masato Tanaka defeated NOAH’s Atsushi Kotoge in the World Heavyweight Championship match, but Junya Matsunaga fell to Mohammed Yone — giving NOAH the overall 2–1 victory.

>As the defeated general, Hayabusa said, “It’s really frustrating, but this isn’t the end. Eiji Ezaki’s Hayabusa lost and lost again, yet it was the sight of him always standing back up that inspired people. I’ll keep standing, keep pushing forward on my path. The real excitement starts now!”

>Though ZERO1 lost the interpromotional battle, the event drew a strong 1,245 fans to Korakuen.
>Hayabusa reflected, “I think we achieved our first goal for now. Next time, we’ll aim even higher.”

>He didn’t specify his next objective, but regarding the World Heavyweight title Masato Tanaka reclaimed for the promotion, Hayabusa’s eyes lit up:
>“I don’t know if someone who lost has the right to speak, but if no one else steps up… then I’ll take action myself.”

>All eyes are now on what comes next.
