Former Raging King Naoya Ogawa says, "If it were me, I'd go and beat up Wolf." His true intentions and expectationshttps://www.tokyo-sports.co.jp/articles/-/366316>Naoya Ogawa (57), a former professional wrestler and silver medalist in judo at the Barcelona Olympics, recently updated his YouTube channel, "Naoya Ogawa's Bousouou Channel." He mentioned Wolf Aaron, a gold medalist in the 100kg judo category at the Tokyo Olympics, who will be making his debut at the New Japan Pro-Wrestling Tokyo Dome event on January 4th next year.>In Wolf's much-anticipated debut, he will clash with EVIL of the villainous group "House of Torture (H.O.T.)." He has already been engaged in a brawl with H.O.T. in the ring, which has been garnering a lot of attention. Ogawa, who saw the video, commented, "There's something amazing about his appearance. The image he had as a judo player has completely faded. I don't know if that was the intention, though. The most important thing is for people who leave judo to succeed in the (next) world.">He then pointed out, "In my experience, it's quite difficult to throw in the ring while wearing shoes. It's different whether the shoes are thick-soled or the thin-soled shoes used in wrestling. In judo, being barefoot is different to being in shoes," and said, "I think Wolf would be able to adapt quickly.">The former King of Runaways continued by giving this advice to the gold medalist: "It all comes down to the microphone, after all. It's about what you say to people and whether you can empathize with them or not. Whether you can fully transform into them or not. Wouldn't Wolf be better off as a heel? He has the aura of a heel."
>>19256248>Furthermore, Ogawa said in the video, "If it were me, I'd go and beat up Wolf." What on earth does this mean? When we asked the former Raging King what he really meant in an interview, he said something terrifying: "Wolf is a gold medalist and already has a clean image. Everyone knows he's strong. So, the chance is before his debut. If I were EVIL, I'd thoroughly torture him and make him bleed. That would be more fun, wouldn't it?">It's true that the Raging King repeatedly got into fights and intruded into matches, and even his rival, the King of Destruction, Shinya Hashimoto, was plunged into a pool of blood both inside and outside the ring. Of course, during his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling, he followed the instructions of his master, the late Antonio Inoki, to "go wild," and most of the time he was "producing" a burning fighting spirit.>That's why he says, "The Dodgers (MLB) signed Ohtani and became the best team in the world. New Japan has also been fortunate enough to sign a talented player like Wolf, so I hope they develop him to the point where he becomes the 'Ohtani of the pro wrestling world.' They have to make him the 'face of New Japan.' I hope they can bring out a new side of Wolf and help him become a great success.">Finally, he expressed his expectations for Wolf, saying, "I'm also looking forward to the January 4th Dome. I hope he does his best." With less than two months left until his debut match, the former King of Runaways is also keeping a keen eye on him.
>>19256248>Wouldn't Wolf be better off as a heel? He has the aura of a heel.Humble Wolf to HoT confirmed

>>19256252>So, the chance is before his debut. If I were EVIL, I'd thoroughly torture him and make him bleed. That would be more fun, wouldn't it?"If only cool things like this happened but EVIL is just gonna walk him through and make all his basics look good. Maybe in a rematch down the line

>>19264149>Okada, who wouldn’t put a soul over on his way out, retires Tanahashi>literally puts over SANADA to make a new top guy>spends a year in tag league, completely irrelevant to any singles titles picture>this is "not putting anyone over on the way out" to some retard on the internet
>>19264441Putting somebody over means literally that. That somebody should be more popular after the match.
>>19264544kek so now it's Okada's fault that he put SANADA over clean as a whistle and he couldn't get over and stay over afterwards?the cope train just keeps on chuggin'
Remember when SANADA had those dud main events with Naito and torpedo'd his own run as a top guy by not getting surgery?Totally Okada and AEW's fault somehow
>>19264441I don't think Okada was particularly generous with putting people over but it's also hard to say how much of that was Okada's fault and how much of it was Gedo's for not booking Okada to do more with the younger guys.
>>19264576when Okada left I'm pretty sure it was just Shota and Tsuji and they hadn't been back long and neither was anywhere close to main event ready, nor was okada in a position to really put them over in a big way. He had no singles titles to lose to them, he had been a tag guy for a year straight. If he had put them over while being booked in such a midcard way, it would be a lot less impactful than if he did it as IWGP champ for example.Okada actually has a lot of history and gave Uemura his big excursion send off so I genuinely believe they will have a big feud when Okada comes back to Japan and he will put over Uemura

It is entirely Sanada's fault for being a charisma vacuum. It shows that you need more than a dimes look and decent wrestling ability. Naito tried his best to get anything out of that shitter in their fued and Sanada proved he wasn't ever going to be top guy material. He is where he belongs a fun midcarder. That being said I never expected him to be Evil's Jannetty back when they were the tag guys.
The most dimes possible Wrestle Kingdom ending: >Tsuji and Takeshita go on last>Tsuji wins and vows to merge the belt lineage into the old one>Naito comes out and challenges Tsuji (to put him over and unaffiliated becomes its own thing)
Enough time has passed. We're all in agreement that Insider-kun was Jeff Cobb the whole time, right?

I train while being careful not to aggravate them.>Nishimura: >Were you originally a big wrestling fan?>Wolf: >I watched a lot when I was in university and really liked it.>Nishimura: >Is the “strength” required of a judoka different from the “strength” needed in pro wrestling?>Wolf: >Very different. In judo, matches are 4 minutes plus golden score. >In wrestling, long matches can exceed 30 minutes. >You need a body that can last over 30 minutes. >The foundational work I’m doing now is for building that kind of stamina.>Nishimura: >Conversely, does anything from judo carry over well?>Wolf: >I had built good thickness in my body from judo, so when doing rope-running drills, my back didn’t get hurt as much.

>>19275128I don't have a problem with that, but the issue is they needed to make someone quickly because of how many people left. Now they have another great opportunity to have Tsuji vanquish the outsider. They need to take it and give guys like Uemura and Umino someone to properly chase because they have real stories there. I think spinning the wheels with Takeshita would be bad long term. He is not the Okada they want him to be and will never be unless he signs. Dragging out Tsuji's story even as far as potentially next Wrestle Kingdom feels like the incorrect play.
>>19275222biggest dome show in 20+ years faggotron
>>19275228I agree that one of the new guys vanquishing the outside is the story they need to go with. But Takeshita just won. He does not have enough defenses to be seen as an actual obstacle and a gatekeeper. If you want this to be the story, they need to build the pressure and that means Takeshita needs to win for a while. If they put Tsuji over in the Dome, it will completely destroy that story and it will be short-term reactionary booking. Then again, they haven't built Takeshita well as a gatekeeper either. Their booking for him is all over the place. He should've been a hardline heel from the start.
>>19275128>njpw is doing the same long-term storytelling it has always doneThat's part of the problem. There's no better way to have your new generation be rendered mediocre than to do the same old shit with them that the last generation did. The wrestlers are at least smart to do their own thing and not center their in-ring style around sawdusting, but the booking is shitty and sloppy. Would you unironically say their booking right now is any good, yes or no? >you guys just want the new guys to be rushed along which would destroy a lot of the allure that draws people to njpw in the first placeThis argument doesn't fucking work when there's 0 star power outside of 2 Jrs which they've neutered (1 does more exciting shit in NOAH, the other couldn't get a major show title defense all year so less people cared), the allure of the promotion was already destroyed when half a dozen guys left in 2 years, and somehow there's about 20 belts and most of the new guys can barely win the lowest tier of them. All these fucking guys and the strongest most consistent pushes since 2023 have gone to David Finlay who's leaving at any moment, an anti-draw heel group and an anti-draw AEW guy. They had Gabe but they fucked him up by allowing that Death Rider bullshit to ruin him. Tsuji but the impact he had when he first returned died in less than a year. Fujita and Wato are just pin-eating choke artists, Despy has to fucking make Fujita's case to be in that stupid 4-way FOR HIM. KOB have belts from a division the office stopped caring about over a decade ago and do nothing but job in singles.
>>19275246the fact that you're complaining about the KOB being titled up in their first year back from excursion tells me you a) don't know shit about how NJPW has ALWAYS booked young guys in their first few years back or b) are just being willfully dishonest because you're a miserable cuntEither way this discussion is over
>>19275257Maybe that was too many words for you so you avoided the question. I'll ask againWould you unironically say their booking right now is any good, yes or no?
>>19275264>Would you unironically say their booking right now is any good, yes or no?I don't judge songs by their intros. That's a dumb way to judge a storyline, something which unfolds over time.I'll let you know how I feel about each young guy's booking once they've been back 5 years from excursion.
>>19275240To make the case that Takeshita is already being presented as an unbeatable force they did call him "the greatest never champion ever" because of the defense record and also the "forever champion". But yeah technically in that space he has not been established. But they really need to start leaning hard into heel Takeshita if they are going to drag it out and not be so wishy-washy.
>>19271612If Naito doesn't pull a surprise appearance in NJPW, NOAH, or AJPW late December or early January I think Naito's basically done outside of wrestling random indies.
>>19275293If he retains, it should be as a hard heel. He should deck Red Shoes or something.
>>19275276Hilarious but unsurprising copout. It's been ages since they've had more than about 6 months of a good booking streak before they did something retarded and ruined all the built up goodwill. They went 4 months this year after Goto won the title and ruined it in 2 weeks starting at fucking Dominion, but somehow it's hard to judge years of bad booking right now.>I'll let you know how I feel about each young guy's booking once they've been back 5 years from excursion.O-Khan and Wato. Stop being a bitch and give a real answer.
Let's be real what Japanese homegrown star have they made since Naito and Okada. Its been over a decade.
>>19275318Both O-Khan and Wato are responsible for picking two of the most terrible gimmicks for themselves I've ever seen in pro wrestling. Wato should've gotten the Tiger Mask, would've helped him immensely to be that for a few years. There is no salvaging O-Khan because he's simply not that good. He will never have the in-ring goods to be a top guy, so he'll be Mr. Gimmick KOPW forever.I think they did everything they could for both guys given their respective talent levels (neither were going to be top guys).
If a guy is good enough at 20 it should be working near the top of the card. The "process" is not a math formula, is different for every individual. The important thing is what you bring to the company, and there is a lot of dead weight.
Booking being "long-term" doesn't mean fuckall. If its boring and sloppy, its boring and sloppy. It doesn't matter where the boring and sloppy shit is heading, if the road their is shit, people dont care. That's why Japanese fans continue to fall off the wagon and call out how boring it is. WWE is literally having the same problem but they at least have some fucking stars. "It gets good after episode 300" is a pathetic excuse for 1-299 having little to offer or get into
this is 100% rocky or someone running defense right now

While I kind of agree that Takeshita hasn't been built up enough, having him beat Tsuji at WK would be the death nail for the company. >>19275518NJPW is having some turbulence but it's far from the worst situation the company has ever been in. Heck NOAH and AJPW have experienced far worse and both of them are bouncing back and doing some good stuff right now.
>>19275518At least is a conversation, instead of AEWWE trolling and rape posts
New Japan had a few great moments this year, but it was mostly bogged down by terrible booking especially from Dominion onward. Goto's run was great, but it had no real meaningful payoff. Hopefully he doesn't instantly return to the midcard. Gabe vs. Tsuji was special, but it was squandered by Gabe's flightiness. I do find it funny that people initially tried to claim that, that one in particular was do to poor booking. It was one of the few instances outside of their control.
