We're still dealing with the consequences of this finish.

Not only are DX now running the business and booking the shows. But Vince is now out of the picture. Imagine if Vince sided with Bret. You would have Bret passing the torch to Austin in 98. Shawn probably wouldn't have broke his back but would've gone to WCW. Triple H wouldn't have got the nepo-push and pushed the Rock into Hollywood. The Evil Vince character may or may not have happened. Owen wouldn't be dead.

agree on all counts, DX turned out to be one of the worst cancers in the history of the business.
>>
>>19257120
Correct. But there's a chance WM14 isn't as hype without Austin vs DX. I always say Bret should've gone to WCW in 93 with Owen after the WM9 screw over. He should've got in there before Hogan and Nash, then he could've came back to the WWF later.
>>
>>19257258
I can't imagine a WWF in 1995 without Bret Hart. You would've had the kliq's influence rising without a catch weight in Bret's faction. Did Hall and Nash leave? Depends. A WCW with Bret and an incoming Hogan may have created issues.
>>
>>19257120
I mean WCW tanked and nothing filled the void after it died. That was the real loss of the era. I really couldn't give a fuck what would have happened in the fed, RIP to my nigga Owen though
>>
>>19257270
if Vince would have allowed Owen to leave he’d still be alive
>>
No DX=no NXT. I need to build me a time machine and take out this whole dimeless faction on the day they were born.
>>
>>19257120
Triple H was pretty much responsible for this sickening act. I wouldn't really blame Shawn. HHH was the sober part in the whole equation and told Vince to do business for him. That's why Bret hates HHH and has forgiven everybody else.
>>
>>19257267
>I can't imagine a WWF in 1995 without Bret Hart.
Same. Complete void and would've hurt WWF even more than they were hurt back then. He should've threatened to leave or shoot did it.
>WCW with Bret and an incoming Hogan may have created issues
Exactly. If Bret, Owen, Bulldog, Niedhart are in WCW in 93, before Hogan, what lockerroom pull does Hogan have a year or so later? Less or more than when he's already got power and Bret comes in without Owen in 97? Totally different landscape.

It was the best time to be a wrestling fan. 1997.
>>
>>19257120
LMAO it was 100% a work, Vince was on commentary, sitting right next to the belt the entire night
at no point in time was anyone ever worried about Brett running off with the title FFS people
>>
>>19257120
How would've Owen not died as a result of any of that?!
>>
>>19258205
Because Bret has said he would have never allowed Owen to do the stunt. Nor would Owen would've even been in a stupid blue blazer outfit to begin with
>>
>>19258205
not OP but I think it's clear that Owens death was a deliberate act of revenge. If Bret had left before pissing off McMahon as bad as he did, it very well might not have happened.
>>
>>19258222
You thought Vince would just accept Bret knocking him out clean in front of all the boys?
>>
It's crazy that there is at least a percentage chance that this doesn't happen, Mr. McMahon doesn't happen, the battle of the billionaires doesn't happen, Cheeto man isn't president.

Wrestling should be taught in schools more than religion.
>>
>>19258292
You're not wrong
>>
>>19258292
>American Civil War 2 is going to happen because Bret wouldn't drop the belt so close to his hometown
>>
wrestling with shadows should've won an oscar

>Taxonomy 101 with Professor Austin
>Thats a gimmick
>Gimmick
>Gimmick
>Tax gimmick
>you know thats a gimmick

do people seriously still think this was a shoot? they had a literal documentary crew on hand when this happened and had them film the backstage fallout of the incident. bret also was in his drew mcintyre "i was le screwed" arc around this time.
>>
>>19258473
Don't be so ridiculous
>>
>>19258292
Trump was on several other TV shows and movies so I doubt him not appearing in WWE would have affected him running for president
The Mr. McMahon character not being a thing definitely could have happened without the screwjob, though
I think Austin still would have been a big star without the Vince feud, but only within the wrestling world. It was his feud with Vince that really got him mainstream appeal because it was an eternally pissed-off guy on weekly TV regularly cussing out his asshole boss and beating him up
A lot of Americans (and people even outside the US) connected with that
>>
my main gripe on how everything played out was just that I was a fan of Bret and his WCW career fucking sucked. I'm not sure how much more time Bret could have stayed active/healthy but there is little doubt he'd have been much more interesting in the WWF. Not to say he couldn't have been good in WCW but they never did anything cool with him.
