Is he overrated
>>
>>19304912
He had the perfect gimmick at the perfect time in the perfect place, which Dundee and Watts both recognized and they booked accordingly. You can really give them credit for getting him over in the first place. He took it from there and honestly, I think he's a bit underrated by modern fans for his managerial work.
As a booker, I think he's just rated. He had some good angles and gimmicks, but his ideas about how wrestling "should be" was a limiting factor. He would be better off as a consultant to a booker, since he's good at pointing out why stupid angles are stupid and what you can do to improve them
>>
>>19304912
Hrs funny when he's seething over dumb shit like the penny lmao
>>
I've never seen any of his work in wrestling but his podcast is very funny
>>
>>19304912
as a podcaster? yes
His shit is stale and his cohost is a fat faggot whos always virtue signaling
>>
>>19305056
I agree. He would make a great filter but no way would I want him booking an entire company because he’s so behind the times. And I mean in life not wrestling. He’s afraid of cars that don’t start with a key and couldn’t comprehend what streaming is.
>>
>>19304912
He was in his time. Wrestling Observer Newsletter voters commonly voted for him above Bobby Heenan in the year end awards and even Cornette will tell you Heenan is the GOAT.
>>

>He’s afraid of cars that don’t start with a key and couldn’t comprehend what streaming is.
It's a work; I refuse to believe a guy that can work a tv truck can't figure out how cuckflix works.
>>
>>19305235
>He’s afraid of cars that don’t start with a key
based corny rejecting the car key scam the only exists to force lock smiths to pay endless licensing fees

point of contention with most (reddit) fans is his ROH run, which comes from him not understanding the ROH audience or market at all and trying to make a promotion that lived off selling DVDs a Bill Watts-esque weekly type of promotion
he got his ass saved because ROH was a goldmine in those years and the talent could compensate his shortcomings, but he almost run the company to the ground because he was so focused on old style wrasslin bullshit to realize that was not what people wanted anymore
I like him but he's the stereotype of the old grumpy fucker that thinks everything he doesn't know is because it's not worth knowing or acknowledging

He was a main creative voice in 1997 when WWF made it's comeback. He invented both the Kane character and the hell in a cell concept. For that he deserves a mountain if credit as a booker.
>>
>>19304912
As a talent? No.
As a booker? To a comical degree.

SMW was fun, but just Cornette's openly ripping off Mid South and Memphis. Definitely worth your time, but they didn't a very good talent pool.

ROH was a dumpster fire and his worst booking by far.

1996-1997 WWF was largely great, but that wasn't all him.

OVW was just Memphis again with worse talent, but he did help create a much better developmental system with Jim Ross' great talent scouting. No doubt.

Cause Cornette was a huge source for Dave, and Dave always propped up his "friends" (carnies that worked him). You could always tell who a source was in the Observer very easily. Dave was and is super impressionable.

No, I meant when he talked about Rampage Jackson’s kid beating up that guy his mind was blown when he discovered that young people watch streamers. Like I know he’s 64 but god damn.
>>
>>19305794
>him booking brock for his mania x8 when brock debutted after mania
>>
>>19305772
He was never the booker in ROH.
>>
>>19305794
the thing i like about this is he had logic for someof it then just abandoned all pretense in favor of booking whatever he wanted to see regardless of how dumb it was
>>
>>19305794
I like how people pretend this isn't incredibly based

Keyless cars? When the fuck did that become a thing? That's like power windows, just a g'dam excuse to pay someone hundreds of dollars to be able to roll the fuckin window up & down. Thank I'm too poor to afford cars that don't use keys, have dashboard tablet screens and an internet-controlled vehicle that some random chud could hack & kill me. I'm 10 yrs younger than Cornette and glad of it. By time everything is replaced by self-driving cars and idiots watching tiktak or texting everyone in the family kill themselves and dozens of others in interstate pile-ups, I'll hopefully be dead of natural causes (which, for me, is anything from HBP to thorazine OD once I finally lose what mind I have left dealing with fucking baby boomers & idiot kids from the local college in Walmart & commiting non-racist chaos. I may be nuts but I'm not a hypocrite.

>When the fuck did that become a thing?
You sound like a zoomer trying to act cool. I saw them in like 2003
t. Probably older than you

As a manager and a podcaster, not at all. His pod work has basically been a continuation of his gimmick since 1984 (he really doesn't care for AEW and most modern wrestling but he worked for the OG flippy promotions in wrestling, TNA & ROH. I'm not sure if he dealt with the Bucks during the ROH run but, if I had put up with their bullshit, I'd go Punk on their ass as well. His hatred of Omega stems from his sheer ignorance of post-Inokism/90s Jap wrestling & the entire PWG genre (also he knows either Dave or Bryan listens/has someone listen and give Meltzer notes on his shows and loves to make Dave seethe; anyone who reads just a couple of Dave Twitter battles knows how fuckin thin-skinned Meltzer is)).

I hate that the territory/Southern Rasslin system is dead (I grew up watching it exclusively) but ppl's attn span for Broadways and ACTUAL long-term booking (not the Haitch version) are completely gone. TK books like a autistic Gedo & Haitch has to book for 30 min entrances cos the ppl willing to buy tickets want to act like they're at a fuckin Taylor Swift concert or EPL match (not that I'm a Brit but most Americans can't grasp the main reasons ppl at football matches chant even during a 0-0 draw; by halftime, they're either drunk/bored to shit/both, plus their civic pride, so they entertain themselves with mindless songs or chanting 'he took a shit/he took a shit' if a player has to run off the pitch w/o a sub.

No, I don't care if you ain't gonna read all this.

I'm fuckin 54 yo. While zoomers get paid for ppl watching them play RPG games & most pop music/hip hop use sex & cuss words without anyone blinking, I dealt with boomers throwing Satanic Panic at my ass for playing AD&D, listening to Metallica and having long hair. Not to mention the g'dam PMRC. A cosplaying zoomer? That's the worst insult I've had since a girl made fun of a few acne bumps when I was in 9th grade (my ex-wife's cussfights & playing with knives, I don't count cos I knew I married crazy). I'm just old enough to where I don't remember my Saturday morning cartoons preempted by constant Watergate coverage. Zoomer, my fuckin ass. Yeah, I'm seething. Being called a g'dam zoomer will turn me into 2022 Punk at a presser.
>>
>>19305874
Also, the newest car I've owned (the one I drive now) is a 2005. Fuck you hobbit-ass brats (I call y'all that cos you, esp women, act like you don't reach the legal age until you turn 33 yrs old; if a 40 yo guy dates a 28 yo chick, you faggots act like it's pedophilia.
>>
>>19305840
Sure, Jim.
>>
>>19305757
He also spearheaded the NWA invasion that same year which nobody liked (Jeff Jarrett would rather revive his old showman gimmick than continue to be involved with it)
>>
>>19306245
That was a Russo angle oddly enough.
