What are the kayfabe properties of this move that make such a worthless-looking attack a pinning combination?
>>19305201It’s atomic
>>19305208Well so is this but it hurts a lot more.
>the opponent>maybe a sore face for a little while>Hogan>could barely walk in his 50s
>>19305233If they just had a sore face then why couldn’t anyone kick out
>>19305201A 300 lb man dropped his leg across your neck after gaining superhuman strength, punching you three times, whipping you to the ropes, and letting you run into his heel. If you were fat, he body slammed you too. So you're already down, the 300 lb leg drop is icing on the cake.
>>19305201Hulk had long legs that were a lot thicker before he was in WCW, so it's like dropping a tree trunk across your throat when the dude is over 300 pounds
>>19305300An atomic tree trunk
>>19305201A leg drop from a 300+ lb man is a much more effective attack that some elaborate nonsense from some 185 lb Flipz merchant. You are a gay retard.
>>19305201>worthless-looking attackwtf a 300lb dude is dropping his leg on your throat
>>19305313Why are those the only two options
>>19305201It looked cool at the time. The cooler a move is, the more devastating it is. Simple as.Conversely, as time wears on and a move becomes less cool looking, it looses power. The big boot and leg drop retained its power in the 90s because Hulk Hogan was the one doing it.
>>19305282Autistic obsession with bodyslamming fat people would be an amazing gimmick. Only wants to wrestle fat wrestlers, talks about the characteristics ring bounce depending on fat distribution of his opponent. Has his opponents measured before the match and has it announced. Stat tracks the total amount of waist he's bodyslammed. Just bring in random local guys that are willing to be bodyslammed.
>>19305201It had all the power of trillions of screaming Hulkamaniacs brother
>>19305201Crushes the wind pipeso that the oxygen is cut from the brain Incapacitating the person for 5 to 7 seconds. Someone slipped into the under side of the knee pad that knocks out the opponent.
>>19305581Oops something* likena metal plate
>>19305201Probably the worst finisher ever in a non-indy promotion.
>>19305586People paid a ton of good money to see him do it on a regular basis... pretty sure that actually makes it one of the best finishers ever.
>>19305617Definitely not worth permanently ruining your back for though.
>>19305617That may be so. But it still looks weak as fuck. Only worked because it was the 80's I guess. When you compare it to finishers like a powerbomb, piledriver, razor's edge, chokeslam, sweet chin music, diamond cutters, scorpion death drops etc it's awful. It has no impact.
>>19305630Agree 100% on that account.
BIG BOOT ATOMIC LEG DROPI don't think there is a more devastating finisher in the sport. Why is OP so dimeless?
I don't disagree, but it was about the theatrics more than the realism. This got it right, IMO - >>19305478One of the biggest differences between WWF and its competitors at the time was the emphasis on theatrics (much as it is today). I'm a little tongue-in-cheek in this conversation because I'm more of a purist (I was WCW all the way back in the 90s). But this move was on brand for WWF.
>>19305710>devastatingI'm pretty sure you mean "protected". Say about hogan what you want, but he definitely made sure his move didn't get kicked out of.
>>19305723Agreed on this. And yeah, I was also definitely a 90s WCW guy.
>>19305344Because it proves my point while deriding his. I could have compared the Hulkster to Brock or something instead but that wouldn't help anything.
>>19305815You have been arguing with retards for too long
>>19305201It was psychological more than it was impactful. It was never a "flash finisher," Hogan couldn't execute it early into a match. The opponent had to be worn down but, even more importantly, it always happened after the opponent was certain Hogan was defeated... but he never was. You could beat him down, use every trick in the book, have your entire faction whack him with chairs but he'd shake it off. The accusatory finger was just as demoralizing as the big boot and atomic leg drop. It was the exclamation point on his rallying cry. You tried everything but it wasn't enough. The leg drop didn't knock out his opponents, it just humiliated them into submission. You were done, if you kick out you're just getting another boot and leg drop. Stay down.
>>19305887That's a lot of words to say "it's shit"
>>19305887holy. fucking. based.
>>19305201In kayfabe he's supposed to be driving his leg down as well
>>19305944I can tell you've neither hanged nor banged. >>19305957Now here's a real Brother Jack Dude.
>>19305201https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XuCsxemxTk&t=5sIt's the main move of the most powerful wrestler Canonically. >>19305887That's also why he used the Teabag pinning technique
>>19305201You tell me.
>>19306809Hulk got some air. No wonder his back was all fucked up.
>>19305563Came to say this exact thing
>>19305725So did Scott Hall and smarks love him
>>19305201>landing ass first into hard plywood thousands of times over 3 decades causes problemswhy didn't he think to stop doing that at some point?, that's gotta start hurting really bad just a few years in
>>19305586Dusty Rhodes, Abdullah the Butcher, and Andre the Giant all used a standing elbow drop as a finish at one time or another. And not a cool one like Muta or the Rock, just stand near their head and drop down to your hip where everyone watching can tell none of their bodyweight is on the opponent.
>>19308783based
>>19305725>>19308644Same with Shaemus and his Brogue kick. Im sure it wasn't protected as the razors edge or the leg drop but it felt like people never kicked out of that thing.
He beat Andre the Giant with that move.
>>19305201300lbs of weight combined with the collected power of screaming Hulkamaniacs which gives him an incredible strength boost and makes him impervious to damage.
>>19305530Sounds like Scott Steiner
>>19305586Anon Big Show's finisher for awhile was just a punch
