This is the destination for all based webms, brotherOn tonight's docket: PURGE NIGHT OF TORTURE, NJPW World Tag League, NOAH, DDT and more!
I apologize for the late start. I made almost all the webms for this week before realizing I must've fatfingered the "enable sound" box and I've had to remake them all. Shouldn't change much aside from slowing down my posts a little, though.
I'm honestly really surprised Milano is this fast. He hasn't wrestled in over 15 years.
Taguchi had the mic when this happened and kept going "that's bad for his face. that's dangerous for the face"
Since a few promotions are doing tag leagues right now or are about to begin which promotion do you think has the strongest tag matches this year?
>>19321368That's a great question. I think I was only aware of NJPW's, but I've also been out of the loop for a littlke while. I think NJPW's tag division is more fun than it has been recently with KOB and a lot of mixups in the factions (to mixed results overall) but if I had to pick one promotion as the king of tag matches I'd have to go with DG. I haven't watched a ton of it but I have watched about as much from their tag division as any non-NJPW/NOAH company and their matches are consistently very entertaining, if very spotfest-y. The company style just lines up incredibly well with fast-paced tag wrestling.
>kicks you in the face>grabs your hair and just shrieks for five seconds
>>19321591im not a big DG guy, is Shun normally a heel wrestler? he seemed like he was somewhat surprised by the crowd reaction and shifted gears a bit
>>19321615Shun's been a heel for a good while, and a super-dirtbag cheating heel for the past 2-3 years. He turned tweener and started his own stable earlier this year. I don't really think it has anything to do with that, though. Pretty much everyone not part of the House of Torture got booed, and I think that was part of the joke.
>>19321675>Pretty much everyone not part of the House of Torture got booed, and I think that was part of the joke.oh for sure, i was just speculating that Shun and EVIL were calling it in the ring based on the reactions but if Shuns a dirtbag then it just happened to work out real well
>>19321883To clarify, Shun is LESS of a dirtbag now than he was a year ago, but he's very much still a bad guy. He's just more of a pure weirdo than a fifteen interferences a match-bad guy.
This looks so sick with the dust flying around.
Dick Togo (56), career interference guy. Who's he trying to fool? He's held up so insanely well.
>>19322280Wrong webm, my b lads
>>19320947>based webmsjust how i like em
>>19321484Holy fuck that mask!
Milano marked the fuck out for this on commentary. It's great to see that everyone else loves Dick Togo's throwback spots as much as we seem to do.>>19322406>based anonsYa just gotta.
>>19322394oh shit i missed this during the show. what a mad lad
Holy fucking DIMES
This one's for the one anon posting the Saya webm. If you want anything else from her from this match, let me know!
Next up is NOAH Sunny Voyage from 15/11!
Such a sick combo.
I fucking ADORE these full-speed fuck it all to hell tackles. So sick.
They just had to run this one back in NOAH.
These two kinda always wrestle the same match every time, but Eita's DDT sells are so good that it works every time.
>>19323668I remember years ago when I was watching NOAH I just found the entire junior scene kind of dreadful.
>>19323733It's definitely struggled with some sameyness, they've been unable to build any credible challengers for the longest time. Daga was the most refreshing champ in a while, to me at least, and then he went openweight. Hiromu causing chaos has been the most interesting thing to happen to it in years, and I say that as a Hiromu disliker. Odashima is also crazy dimes but a bit too young to have the trigger pulled on yet.
Next up is DDT's D Generations SP! To my understanding this is a pure rookie-showcase show, and it was a lot of fun.
God DAMN.
Nagai's already such a great shithead. His development feels really similar to Fujita's, I kinda hope they let him graduate in NJPW or within Japan.
Tsukamoto's back! I love this motherfucker.
Obviously I went into this match with my eyes on Murashima and Tsukamoto, but this guy was really impressive too. He's freakishly athletic.
GO GO GO
I really like these jumping powerslams.
Ilusion a cute
I'm gonna close out with the first WTL show!
MURDER MURASHIMA
TOP GUY
So Yuto is just the best of the new generation now, right? It's INSANE how good he is at match builds.
God I love Despy.
BIG BOLTIN
Kino fucking spot
I like the way Taichi just drops after this. I'll of course miss Ishii this WTL, but I was pleasantly surprised with this match.
That's all for me for today! Tomorrow I'll have webms from Dragon Gate's King of Gate tour as well as Gate of Nostalgia, and I'll close out the thread with some King's Road action! I hope we stay up until then. Thank you all for hanging out tonight. Goodnight, bros.
>>19320947Haha time for the best thread of the week!>>19325540Goodnight, bro.
*sip*
>>19326235Delightfully devilishii
REQUEST: >Daichi Kakimoto & Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima & Kensuke Sasaki (05.05.2006)Fun match, fairly obscure. It's up on a BJW 2006 compilation on VK. Awesome strike exchanges as you would expect from these guys. Sekimoto is really young here and he sells and emotes a lot.
>>19327782that bump on his noggin is bigger than the cake
>>19321368It has to be Dragon Gate, the whole promotion is built around multi man tag matches.
>>19321615>>19321675Shun is his own beast. In DG he'll be opposed to the heel faction but still fuck over the faces. As shown from the recent Gate of Nostalgia show which had a kino Shun dirtbag moment
I'm back! Thank you all for keeping us bumped! I'm starting with King of Gate and I will try my best to get Gate of Nostalgia ready to post after, but I might not have time. Either way you're getting plenty of fresh webms!>>19327249Noted! Unsure if I will have time tonight but in that case you'll get it next week.
I really liked the simple as fuck setup for this match. Kato stands directly on Mochi Jr's lower back for a good 30 seconds following the opening exchange and that's the story. It works so well.
Cinema
That's one way to do it.
Unfortunately, my Gate of Nostalgia download was completely corrupted so I won't get to post anything from that tonight. I have a good bit of King's Road stockpiled, so hopefully that'll last me the night!
Just insane. The momentum on this catch is crazy.
Such good sells.>>19329008I also really like the way Ben-k "swings" in that headlock. Looks great.
Fucking HELL the way this clips his head is nasty.
>>19329181JAMBO NO KACHI
Ben-K fucking LOVES just folding himself over for these lariats.
Lil nigga space program
Next up's a semi-obscure AJPW patch, especially considering the lineup. I was absolutely stunned seeing the teams for this. This is Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada & Hiroshi Hase vs Kenta Kobashi, Akira Taue from 15.9.97. Pants off!
Holy goat
>comedy spot to start off a 60 minute war between six starsBasef
DESERVED
I love this. Someone talked about Hase in a previous thread of mine, highlighting exactly stuff like this. I'm fully convinced the plan was originally a surfboard here, but it doesn't work out for whatever reason and Hase course corrects smoothly as hell.
Just straight swats him across the face.
"ok that's enough"
I love checking this thread in between watching the tag tournament in AJPW right now. I also just love how much energy the AJPW crowd has been having lately. They definitely don't just politely clap the whole show.
>>19330878Hell yeah. Any standouts that you'd recommend? I definitely won't have time for the full thing with WTL already going on.
I really like Kobashi's sell here.
"i've wrestled this guy like 800 times. you're doing it wrong"
Absolutely wild to pull this spot out in '97.
Brutal.
What the FUCK did Kawada (33) and Misawa (35) mean by this?
>>19330892I just finished Night 1 and I was actually surprised. For the most part AJPW really started the tournament off with a bang. The Yumas vs Atsuki and Rising Hayato had the biggest story and surprises of the night. The crowd was probably hottest during Honda/Nomura vs Kento vs DBS Jr because the crowd REALLY wanted to see Honda pin Kento. My favorite team is Ren Ayabe/Talos so their match pleased me. If I could only pick one I'd probably go with one of the first two I mentioned though with the higher recommendation for the Yumas match. I also feel spoiled seeing good camera work from AJPW after going through all of those hardcam shows. It really makes me wish AJPW could come into some money and have the same level of camera work as NJPW and NOAH.
>King of Chop (1997)>>19332478Yeah, AJPW's camera work is a big barrier to entry for me. I'll try to at least check out day 1 of the tournament!
HOLY leap Wada
Next up, and probably last, for today is this request! Really fun stuff. Sekimoto had such a deer-in-headlights look to him early on, it's so insanely bizarre compared to his current persona.>>19327249Here you go!
>>19333354I like how different of directions Sasaki's pupils went. Nakajima, Kento, and Masa Kitamiya all ended up really different from each other with Nakajima taking the most after Sasaki.
Hell of a lot of personality in everything Sekimoto does here. Sick.>>19333374>Nakajima taking the most after Sasaki.Makes sense, he was basically adopted by Sasaki. I don't know for sure but I highly doubt either of the others were that close.
Also, watching this after not having seen Sasaki in a while makes it clear how fucking huge he actually was. I'd never think of him as more than a bulky guy but he's as wide as Sekimoto is.
Probably some of the best this spot has ever looked.
So funny that Nakajima was still doing spots like this years later. On the receiving end. Really funny to have him on the opposite side at 18 years old.
REAL choppa
That's all for me for this week! Next week I'll have more WTL, Gate of Nostalgia, NOAH's Jr tournament, and hopefully that AJPW tag show as well if I have time! I'll see you all then. Goodnight, bros.
>>19334071Goodnight, based webmbro.
>>19320947
>>19334071
>>19333183>>19333978Thank you, bro!
