Why do people complain about "McMahon family drama" when they were all great performers and characters (Linda aside)?

Stephanie especially added a lot to the product, in my opinion

because smarks are miserable from a lifetime of virginity and failure
>>
>>19420734
They eclipsed the wrestlers in their storylines and at times felt like a show about the McMahons, not the WWF. Also, Vince is a great performer, Shane could do a spot match and Steph never found a groove on the mic, really. Also the only reason these characters are over with you is because their dad forced them all over the goddamn show lol.

Not only was the Mr. McMahon character performed great, but Vince himself should get credit for booking himself to be humiliated or get his ass kicked every week because he was smart enough to know that's what we wanted to see. Shane and Steph were good performers too but their egos eventually got in the way of being great like Vince was.

Steph in 'The Authority' was some of the worst stuff on the show every week. This was when Steph starts getting into all that philanthropy and became like a big public spokesperson and we'd get vignettes of all their good work and how great Steph was in particular. That era feels so fucking weird in hindsight.

steph + jericho was kino

>Vince himself should get credit for booking himself to be humiliated or get his ass kicked every week
this is sorely missed right now in wrestling. Vince being an egomaniac and being all over the show was balanced by the absurd comedy of his character ending up humiliated. Triple Bypass could never. even Big Tone ain't got it in him. Adam Pearce and the British guy fucking sucks. A heel general manager or authority figure like early 00s era Vince would be kino. Vito on JCW has been doing it perfectly actually.
>>
>>19420790
Steph didn't need to be good on the microphone though, she was getting massive heat just by being on screen and being an annoying, spoiled cunt that the crowd loved to hate
>>
>>19420856
adam pearce makes the best out of what is given to him, he could easily pull off the overworked and annoyed police chief in a movie
>>
>>19420848
Podcasters don't have the balls to say it, but Stephanie's Authority is what started the women's revolution and that was the final nail in the coffin for the viewer drop-off.
Ratings never came back up after that.
>>
>>19421138
Nah, that was Romannetty's fault
>>
>>19421146
Romanetty and the Wometty Revetty at the same time.

Because it vastly overstayed its welcome. At the time when McMahon family stuff overtook the show, we were already literally a half decade removed from the Austin/Vince feud (which was the actually good stuff). By 2003 this shit had no juice left but it was more prevalent on the shows than ever. It'd be like if we were still watching Bloodline or Elite angles in 2025 (oh wait we are kek)
Sometimes I have to remind myself that the majority of fans now are people who grew up "WWE brand fans" but specifically not wrestling fans, like not even fans of the Attitude or Golden Era WWF which were awesome, and not genuine casual fans who come and go, but people who have been hardcore popping for the Miz and shit for like 20 years and get nostalgic over like Hornswoggle. Power to you if that's your thing, I'm not knocking it, but I dunno brother.
>>
>>19421138
that was the four horses having really good reviews in nxt and getting over and them reading the political room of the mid 2010s and thinking 'how can us corporate big brains use this'
Starting the ratings decline of WWE at that point is weird though, it's all downhill from 2001 dude.
>>
>>19420860
She wasn't always playing Triple H's cunt manager. Plenty of time when she's a focal point of a storyline that otherwise didn't need it.
Steph could have ended up a lot worse, I'll be fair and say that. I liked her Vince match. Held up her end.
>>
>>19420734
Honestly even Linda wasn't that bad despite not having the charisma/mic skills that the others had
>>
>>19421882
>Linda wasn't that bad
come on now
>>
the mcmahons were all very very over at least until 2000. people can complain about wm2000 but the mcmahon family drama wasn't worn out yet and it felt right at the time. people enjoyed it
>>
Vince storylines look better in hindsight. the "let's see where it goes" fags were right.
>>
>>19421889
It wasn't like she was some terrible actress or something, she just didn't have a grandiose personality like the other 3
She still usually got a pop whenever she appeared, because the crowd knew she'd announce big decisions favoring the faces and to the detriment of the heels. She did her job well
The McMahons needed a 'normal', boring one to balance things out
>>
>>19422040
No, she genuinely was robotic and could barely deliver lines. She wasn't getting gigapops, except for that wheelchair angle. Remember, when she literally played a braindead vegetable? Though it was hard to tell the difference. How about selling the stunner?
The McMahon's didn't need shit, they weren't a stable. Linda took more away than she added on-screen, and was just more McMahon drama except she was bad at acting. It's hardly her fault, she clearly decided to never show up past a certain point for a reason.
>>
>>19420734
>the product
God damn you stupid faggots only use this because your favorite YouTube smark retard says it.
>>
>>19422057
>She wasn't getting gigapops, except for that wheelchair angle
So I guess the crowd was dead that one time she slapped Stephanie?
>>
I love the billion cumshot princess
>>
>>19422318
They'd have been louder if it weren't Linda!
>>
>>19422106
And do you have a better term we can use? Because you can't say "show" because it also has PPVs
