People sleep on it but it's the second biggest wrestling company in Japan right now for a reason. Which is big for a women's wrestling company. It even had the first televised women's match in decades.
>>
>>19438938
You finna know it
>>
>>19438938
It's amazing how they lost so many stars and it didn't really affect them but /stardom/ will tell you it's ran by an imbecile
>>
>>19439002
People definitely underestimated how deep the company's roster was. It's still strong.

It's more the Bushiroad marketing machine than the talent. The girls have never been more inaccessible and it's never been more expensive to connect with them. There is no feeling that they actually need you to be a fan of them as they get paid well regardless. In the old days, you could have a conversation with them at fan meets and photo ops. Now, you are rushed through the line, told not to say anything past hello and thank you and aren't allowed within 3 feet of them. The personalized experience is gone and the booking is boring and doesn't cause one to feel close to the girls so that you feel awful when they are betrayed or when they finally break through and get a belt. It's all too standard now.
It's much easier to follow now however and that helps.

bald unc we just watching a tv show. not trying to pretend we are in a relationship with them because they talked to us for 30 seconds.
>>
>>19439125
That's some good insight.
Stardom (and now Marigold) seemed to be built in large part on parasocial relationships to encourage merchandise sales. Bushiroad seems like it wants to move away from that in favor of a more traditional model.
>>
>>19439153
actually it seems like they want the bald unc money more than ever with the apps, tv show apperances, merch, and the meet and greets post show. but now it's more corporate and fine tuned to churn out as much yen as possible instead of letting fans have a bit of a chat like an ice ribbon would do. they're never going to do away with the idol culture of parasocial relationships.
>>
The main event at Korakuen Hall isn't fixed, which is a big factor.
No matter who comes, there's no complaint about the quality. The strength of the current Stardom women's wrestling is overwhelming.
>>
Stardom fags have been saying Stardom is the best since I started coming to this board like 10 years ago
>>
>>19439223
It's just an easy watch. You can't be mad when a couple of chicks fuck something up. Meanwhile, they usually have some good matches here and there, especially in bigger shows.
It's not that it's always great, just that it doesn't tend to disappoint much if that makes sense because you don't necessarily invest much in it in the first place. Wrestlers you like don't always win but everyone is kinda likeable on some level.

The only women in that shot are the ones in the ring. Even TJPW has a bigger female fanbase than Ojidom.
>>
>>19439125
TJPW with actual good marketing would probably blow by Stardom. The Texas shows showed what even halfway competent marketing could do for them because the wrestlers have a lot of personality and stand out, are easy to meet and interact with, there's not a lot of storyline shit you need to follow and it's not focused on moves mark shit the wrestlers can't really do. It's a pretty accessible thing for wrestlig casuals and newbies.

But CyberFight has some of the worst, most incompetent marketing I've ever seen. DDT got really lucky that Takechi brought in the women and they liked the other good looking guys enough to stick around.
>>
>>19439752
>TJPW with actual good marketing would probably blow by Stardom
no they wouldn't. they're a niche of a niche
>>
>>19439722
Check your eyes, there are more men there than women but there are several in the crowd right in front of the camera.
>>
>>19439752
if that were true then suckybad wouldn't be doing shows under highway overpasses
>>
>>19439722
It's the nature of wrestling the men to female ratio is always going to heavily slant towards the male section. It's like that everywhere.
>>
>>19439853
Sukeban doesn't do shit because it's just a hipster douchebag art project marketed to other hipster douchebags who are meant to watch it ironically. You're watching Japanese women degrade themselves in weird clown get ups in rings under freeways surrounded by fentanyl addicts. Low class entertainment taken to its logical extreme which is oh so kitsch. It basically just exists to turn wrestling, and joshi specifically, into a pop art critique of wrestling and weeabooism which is why it has no actual appeal to anybody outside of a small group of NYC artists jerking themselves off.

Thats sorta what stardom do, they lose their stars and restructure and are fine. theyve been doing this since their inception.
>>
>>19439752
Could be true, but the main issue arises with the fact they are always liable to having their top and mid card talent poached by stardom. there is a few of the girls that are loyal however building a show that can compete with stardom around them would be difficult. they are also like ddt where they do a bunch of random bs which is sort of their brand

Hi DragonMoon, the wrestlers aren't your girlfriends and they don't owe you anything. Stardom does what any normal company would do to protect their talent against creepy fans.

CyberAgent could actually give CyberFight a budget used for things other than NOAH but that won't happen. TJPW can't even get its own set of streaming equipment, why would they ever be given enough of a budget to offer well paying contracts that would prevent Bushiroad from poaching them?

If CyberAgent was going to invest heavier into joshi they'd try to talk Rossy into signing Marigold with CyberFight fully so they could invest deeper into Marigold to compete with Stardom.
>>
I just hate that the credit for their growth will encourage more of the terrible booking. the reason why the company is doing good right now is because NJPW is in the toilet and the fans are moving to the next thing they know best. helps that despite marigold, stardom still has a lot of recognizable talent, so even if you don't follow the product, you can still go to a show and see all the faces you are familiar with.

Being in the toilet is when you sell out the Tokyo Dome. Smarks are so fucking weird.
>>
The split was a good thing for them
>>
>>19442592
and yet they will still make less money than previous years because they downsized from two nights to a single event.
>>
>>19441441
>despite marigold, stardom still has a lot of recognizable talent,

It's because no one went to Marigold. 5 wrestlers out of 40. One was leaving anyway for WWE, one was a rookie no one knew about, no one cares about Mai. By the time Mayu left the next year she was already irrelevant in Stardom.

Being in the toilet means having no stars while seeing what's supposed to be the biggest tour of the year perform its worst in years and only being carried to decent numbers at the very end of the year because somebody's retiring soon

>>19442640
You know renting venues costs money, right? They outright said it was a flop
>>
>>19439125
This
it was growing the moment Bushi took over and started marketing it. you're obviously going to get more people watching when you get the girls to go on shows and promote it and put billboards up.
>>
>>19439752
There's a reason they purchased NOAH and boosted it to fuck while their attempt to try and promote DDT crashed and burned, my friend. Throwing money at shit with only niche market potential is wasting money.
>there's not a lot of storyline shit you need to follow and it's not focused on moves mark shit the wrestlers can't really do
You just gave us 2 reasons why it wouldn't work. A joke promotion with light hearted idol collabs with no conflict is not gonna take the wrestling world by storm. Koda doesn't wanna change or evolve the promotion beyond what it is and what it is now is fine. You're gonna need to start twisting its image around and Koda and some fans clearly aren't gonna want that.

>>
>>19443145
The reason they purchased NOAH is because Takagi begged the CyberAgent president to do it out of some old sense of loyalty he had towards Misawa for helping DDT out in its early years, and in doing so he fucked his own promotion over. He even gave all of DDT's Abema broadcasting slots to NOAH like a good cuck. DDT is a niche promotion, true, but they still for several years managed to be the 3rd largest promotion in Japan thanks to Ibushi, so the potential is there
