Triple H even tried to sabotage Hulk Hogan's nostalgia run with the WWE in 2002, only for Hogan to have Hunter's backstage powers overturned.

That's why Hunter replaced HBK after HBK went down in 1998, and years later was quick to re-route HBK to NXT once Hunter reclaimed power from Vince. Hunter wrote him off as a drug addict.Hunter also holds a grudge against Vince McMahon since 1996 when his original push (1996 KOTR winner) got cancelled because Vince got mad at Hunter for his role in the Curtain Call incident where he and HBK said their goodbyes to Scott Hall and Kevin Nash on their way out to WCW. on the surface, there were no issues with HBK and Razor Ramon hugging each other in MSG since they were babyfaces, but then Hunter (the heel) ended up hugging Razor then Diesel (heel).Because Razor and Diesel confirmed their departure to WCW and 1-2-3 Kid wasn't even there when the Curtain Call happened, the three of them were off the hook. Shawn Michaels was the WWF Champion at the time, so he was off the hook as well. Triple H is a snake and is a friend to nobody. He probably had a bigger hand in playing Bret, HBK and Vince against each other. He poured more fuel into the Montreal Screwjob than Vince ever did.
