This is the destination for all based webms, brotherOn tonight's docket: NJPW World Tag League, Kaito's anniversary show and more!
Tempo might be a little slow tonight, but I'll do my best. I'm starting with WTL!
ABUNAI
Holy BASED
As much as I don't care about these two as a team, Hiromu finally getting to throw Finlay and it leading to massive success (comparatively) is really funny.

Love you webmbro. Have a great weekend
I know it's easy to ironically call everything cinema, but I genuinely really like how this pans onto Yuya when he shouts. It's cool.>>19465711>based anonsHell yeah.>>19465726The last sell is genuinely great. Just the right level of cartoonish.>>19465756You too, brother. Happy to have you here!
How do you think WTL turned out so far? I was surprised at how much I enjoyed AJPW's tag league this year outside of a couple slower nights.
Chase "godtier sells for whatever reason" Owens>>19466012>How do you think WTL turned out so far?I'm just about to watch the most recent semi-final now. I've had fun with the tour! The team shakeups have made for interesting matchups (and some that I am torn on) and unlike last year I'm actually very happy with the top scorers. >how much I enjoyed AJPW's tag league this yearMy computer shit itself completely last week so my download of this didn't even go through. I do have it now and will hopefully get to post some highlights from day one at the very least. I would watch more but I genuinely have not had time, and will not bfeore the new year's shows start happening.

I like how Matsumoto's gimmick recently has been boiled down to "Insanely jacked Goto loyalist who gets sent to space"

RARE NAGAI>>19466989Eh, I think he's been treated way better in WTL than he was in the brief stuff post-debut pre-tournament.
These two match up really well together.
Sick sequence.
KILL
God DAMN this finish rocks so much. Their finishes have been so god damn good. Genuinely one of my favorites this year.
Unsure if this is intentional but I really hope it is. God I love Nagai.
What did he mean by this?
Holy fucking comedy cinema.
This spot owns every single time.
Such power in this one.
Rocks.
I'm content with these finals, though I think I'd rather have TMDK vs. KOB. Having three Reiwa era guys in the finals is sick, though.
>>19467804I'm pleased to see Oiwa get this far. I loved what he was doing in NOAH and been hoping NJPW would get moving on him.
I'm closing out with something I've been sitting on for close to a year at this point. This is Fujita "Jr" Hayato vs. Koji Kanemoto from the 2009 Super J Cup.>>19467823Yeah, same. I do still want him to become a singles guy because at his peak (G1 vs. Uemura is easily my favorite NJPW match this year) he's incredible, but I don't think you should discount a (possible, likely even) WTL win next to another singles star like ZSJ. Helps that he's been looking absolutely incredible the whole tour.
Absolutely crazy how much Kanemoto gets from the crowd with so little.
Hayato was 23 here and he already had such crazy presence. He's one of the unsung GOATs to me.
God fucking damn this angle is vile.
I love the rare falcon arrow/DVD with an actual driver landing. Looks so good.
>>19464849Webm bro, I asked for an LA Knight pre-roll webm last week but I was offline for a few days after so I was wondering did you do it and if so can you post it again please?
>>19468093I did. Should be in the archive for next time, but here you go.
>>19468104Holy shit thank you so much GOAT
>>19468106Anytime, anon.
Scary as fuck landing.
Kanemoto's "HUH???" reaction is great. Hayato really SHOULDN'T be going at this point and that's the best part.
CHRIST.Leaving you with that for today! Tomorrow I'll have Kaito's anniversary show, (parts of) day 1 of AJPW's RWTL and more King's Road to close us out! Maybe something else too, we'll see. It's been a pleasure as always, bros. I'll see you tomorrow!
*sip*
>>19464849Haha time for the best thread of the week!>>19468476Delightfully devlishii

I'm back! Thank you all for keeping us bumped. I'm starting out with the Kaito show.
Repeating your debut match in your debut gear for your anniversary show is cute.
I like the angle on this.
New rookie debut! What a way to introduce yourself.
I was very pleasantly surprised by Koyanagi. Not that I expect NOAH rookies to come out bad, but there are a lot of flairs here that're super good. The little back sell as he goes for the pin, for example.
>>19472039Big props to Kaito for wrestling so much that night including that Iron Man with Kenoh.
>>19472810Yeah, doing all of that and then an iron man is nuts, I couldn't imagine wrestling an iron man in general. I'm in decent shape, but I couldn't imagine going for a 60 minute run, having a guy just full send stomp on my stomach 30 minutes in, then getting up after a minute and continuing. Absolutely insane.
But we're not done there, there were TWO more debuts on that same show! Tanahashi and Tsuruya debuted against each other. They didn't impress me quite as much in the details department, but their credentials are very interesting. They're both amateur wrestlers, like almost anyone who enters the NOAH dojo, and both very accomplished. Tsuruya (the one in grey) comes from a family of MMA fighters and his brother is a former Shooto champ. Very interested to see how that plays out. With how absolutely incredible Odashima's debut year has been, I have really high expectations for anyone coming out of the NOAH dojo, especially since they seem to intend to continue with the colored trunks thing.
>>19473067>TanahashiThat's TaKahashi, my bad.
I got a good laugh out of the commentary team talking over this and Stu Fulton just falling completely dead silent midway, only to go "...I think we just saw Tsuruya do an Imanari roll" in breathless awe afterwards.
Gorgeous.
God DAMN.
This is 30 minutes into an iron man match. And you're meant to just grit your teeth through a guy landing on your stomach from 9 feet in the air and get up and continue wrestling for another 30 minutes. Just nuts.
I'm not 100% sure which way this was intended to go, but there's definitely a split-second here where Kaito realizes Kenoh is about to stomp through his shit and he has to brace.
>>19477732I keep watching this one just because Kaito had to be sore for a day or two after that one.
RARE KAITO>>19479309Yeah, it's insane. One of those moments where it's impossible to forget how very REAL wrestling is.
So, my deduction shows that Kenoh cannot wrestle a 60-minute match without his opponent turning into a finner demon in the final 15 minutes.
Next up are some highlights from day 1 of AJPW's RWTL.
>>19479899Marufuji teasing that maybe Nakajima is Bushi's mystery partner was just mean.
>>1948014780% of the time I see that spot I make a webm. It's just so sick. Suzuki's easily one of my favorites going, stuff like this is why. This conversion is so smooth.>>19480171I didn't even see that, but it can't be anyone but Naito after that absolutely INSANE X render they used for him. It's his direct silhouette, fucked up hair and all. I can almost see his lazy eyes.
>>19480147I think AJPW has been trying hard to get a heelish side out of Ayabe and it's slowly starting to work. Working with a guy like Talos and having guys like Suzuki do this stuff to him helps.
>>19480350From what I've seen from him (CC this year and onward is most of my exposure, really) I think he's always had a little bit of an edge to him, but mostly because he's a head taller than anyone else on the roster and, for some reason, an absurdly stiff striker. If anything I think the disconnect stems from his entrance gear and his "skipping-across-fields-anime-opening" theme.
>>19480437I'll give AJPW tons of credit. Yuma's driving adventure was stupid on his part and a blow to the tournament but AJPW recovered fast by having Anzai laser in on Kento, have a small feud with Saito, and build a feud with Dragon Gate's Kikuta. If you ever get free time and caught up on other stuff I do recommend the December 7th show and the December 10th show. Both were really good and solid proof that AJPW really took a bad situation and somehow turned it around and got a lot of great stuff cooking instead.
>>19480518Almost all of this went over my head, I just haven't kept up with AJPW all that much and when I do it's with Japanese commentary so I'm not picking up on the non-visual angles. >I do recommend the December 7th show and the December 10th showI appreciate the recommendations but I fear that even if I do get around to them you won't see webms of them until mid-January. I won't even have time to post the WTL finals until after WK. I'll write it down and try to get to it, though. Better late than never and whatnot.
>>19480677Yuma Aoyagi caused a car wreck and ends up he was on a suspended license too so AJPW punished him by making him forfeit the tournament, issue a public apology, and be out of action for a few months. I'm just pleased that instead of completely derailing Anzai it instead shot him right into a title shot with Kento plus him and Kikuta beefing and Anzai even teasing that maybe he'll go after the Dragon Gate title too. It has me a bit too excited I admit and I'm even having to familiarize myself with modern Dragon Gate a bit more because the AJPW/Dragon Gate stuff has been really good so far. Fairly I'm pleased with a lot of things out of puro right now so it's easy to get excited.
>>19480781And here I thought Yuma in your previous post was Anzai, because he was also gone for a good while this year. I agree, though, the peeks I've gotten into AJPW this year has been good. I really liked the Saito reign and Kento's got such undeniable crowd connection that I can't complain about anything he does.>I'm even having to familiarize myself with modern Dragon Gate a bit more because the AJPW/Dragon Gate stuff has been really good so farYeah, DG has been very good this year too, especially Kikuta's booking. He's always been one of my favorites so having him see him get his flowers (his fucked up, evil heel-flowers) has been nice. NOAH's been great too, especially Odashima's first year and Inamura's return and championship win. I think NJPW has, especially in comparison, been misstepping a lot. But even with them there have been tons of bright spots.
>>19480849I'm praying for an Oiwa victory in WTL so my hype can keep going
>>19480947You and me both, brother.
I'm closing out with Misawa vs. Akiyama from 26.01.98. Pants off, bros. We're about to see some moves get debuted!
bonce ronce the cornew
>>19480947it has to happen, Tsuji already has a WK match>>19480849>I think NJPW has, especially in comparison, been misstepping a lotI'll be honest, I lost a lot of interest in NJPW this year after Goto dropped the title before the G1I've only kept up with whats happened through their website and these threads since
I feel like you so rarely see one-counts in 90's AJPW. Makes this one stand out.>>19481319>I'll be honest, I lost a lot of interest in NJPW this year after Goto dropped the title before the G1Yeah, same. Doesn't help that they kinda flubbed everything post-that too and Takeshita is a non-champ. And I LIKE Takeshita. He's just been booked like shit. The AEW partnership is really showing its wear at this point. Like I said there have been bright spots, but the Goto reign is my main one and that ended on a sour note. Oiwa and Uemura is my second major one, but the company hasn't really gone full send on them yet. I hope this tag league is the start of Oiwa's side of that, though.
ERUBOERUBOERUBOERUBOERUBOERUBO
God DAMN. Something I really like about this, despite how spotty it is, Akiyama still fits a knee dropkick in to keep Misawa reeling. It's a nice touch.
My Mount Rushmore:>Jun Akiyama>Blue Thunder>Sternness>The Fifth Pillar
So brutal that it crosses over into a comedy spot. Holy shit, man.
Simple. Drop the guy on his head. Sometimes that's all you need.
TOP GUY NAGAI beat Tanahashi clean and the Ace raised his hand afterward webmbro, trust me
>>19482126Holy fucking DIMES
Brutal.
The first of many. There's a great hush in the crowd when Misawa sets up his new move, even the commentators don't know what to make of it. Insane pop, too.
That's all for me for today, and, unfortunately, most likely also this year. Next week I am going away over Christmas and New Year's, and won't be back until the weekend of WrestleKingdom, which means you won't see me until the weekend after that. That means a full month without Weekend Webm Threads. I'm sure the board will survive in its own festering heap of trash way, but I'll be back soon enough. My first thread back will be used for WrestleKingdom, New Year Dash and NOAH's 1.1 show, and depending on how well I manage to catch up in the week after that'll be when I post the WTL finals, the Road to WK shows and my 2025 MOTYs. It'll be a weird start to the year but I'll figure it out. Thank you all for spending some time with me over the past year, here's to many more like it. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. Goodnight, bros.
