out of russo, cornette and meltzer, whose opinion do you respect the most?
>>
>>19465127
All of them but Russo’s retarded on Japan and Mexico.

His writing only works for America
>>
>>19465127
Opinion on wrestling and how it should be executed ill go with cornette. with everything else all 3 are retarded.
>>
>>19465127
Russo has had more success in the business so I would listen to him over a literal hillbilly cuck and a jew
>>
>>19465140
I miss when bait was believable
>>
>>19465140
Nice Bait.

Russo’s Success is only in America.

That’s it
>>
>>19465127
Would i enjoy the bell to bell action if a wrestling match? Meltzer

Is it a history or booking theory thing? Cornette

Do I just need 800 ideas and not care if any of them are good? Russo
>>
>>19465127
Probably Meltzer because he's a historian and recognises good matches regardless of the company/people involved. Cornette is stuck in the 80s and holds grudges based on something you did to him 20 years ago, probably unintentionally. Russo isn't a wrestling fan, he just likes trash TV
>>
>>19465173
If all 3 could coexist we would have some damn good television.
>>
>>19465127
Russo actually made money and was part of the biggest wrestling boom in history so I'd respect his opinion the most. Meltzer somehow carnies himself a good living by rating wrestling matches on a scale he made up, good for him but he's really only qualified to talk about what fits his own scale of what he likes. Cornette also somehow carnies himself a good living by learning how the territories worked and not understanding the territories era ended. If I wanted to sell out a school hall in the South way back when he's the first guy I'd go to. For modern stuff, not so much.
>>
>>19465140
Russo's only success was writing dogshit for the undercard while McMahon was busy pushing Stone Cold and the Rock. And that's not even getting into his numerous fuck ups and failures, like putting a cock on Samoa Joe's face in TNA.
>>
>>19465194
Russopinion discarded
>>
>>19465150
Cornette
>ran some hick territory
Meltzer
>he's just a fucking journalist lmao
Russo
>wrote the storylines during the peak of wrestling relevancy for the biggest company
>BUT HE DIDN'T MAKE A MATCH AT THE TOKYO DOME BETWEEN FUKUSHITA AND DATSUMANTSUSHITARU!!!!
>>
>>19465198
Jim, it's been almost 30 years since he replaced you the first time. Let it go before you give yourself a heart attack
>>
>>19465204
Yeah, Russo wrote "choppa you pee pee" for warm bodies on the midcard when people were tuning in to see Stone Cold kick Vince's ass. That was his positive contribution to the Attitude Era.
>>
>>19465204
He created beaver cleavage while Vince controlled the talent selling the tickets. if he was good at what he did then WCW would still be business.
>>
>>19465150
>Russo succeeded in the only place that matters
>>
>>19465194
>For modern stuff, not so much.
yet you think grandpa daves modern day vision of wrestling [aew] is where its at? or vince i wrote for vince mcmahon once in the 90s russo has a grasp of anything wrestling related??
>>
>>19465233
>>19465234
Name a single thing Cornette ever did other than swing a tennis racket around and get New Jack to shit on white people
You can name endless Russo stuff
>>
>>19465198
Covid was a scam. Trump is the best president America ever had. The Young Bucks are the best tag team in the business. Kenny Omega is a once in a generation talent. CM Punk is shit, MJF is a one trick pony & Charlotte Flair is a man.
>>
>>19465279
I never said Cornette did it better. But I did watch most of SMW and it was comfy as fuck.
>>
Jim. It’s so common sense I don’t think a rational person could disagree with him.
Smarks are just so terrified there will be less flips in wrestling that they reject logic.

I respect Cornette's views on wrestling more. Mainly when it comes to historic knowledge and booking reasoning. Other than that he's a retard.

But if I was a booker, I'd try to book more like Russo, just less stupid.
>>
>>19465127
Russo
>>
>>19465234
>while Vince controlled the talent selling the tickets

So why did WWE start losing millions of viewers and house begin to tank for the last 20 years that he was completely in charge of creative?

I really like Corny. Like a lot, even if his political views can be a tad nauseating (I'm a moderate dem and even I find his opinions insufferable)

He clearly has a love for the business, knows the entire history of wrestling by heart and has had a lengthy tenure in it as well (I still find his WWE 1997 KC video to be endlessly fascinating because of how meticulous he was with his own book-keeping)
>>
>>19465204
>>19465253
>AMERICA ONLY MATTERS!!!

Lmao. Nope.
>>
>>19465127
It barely exists anymore but I like reading old DVDVR reviews if I can find them (not the forum though). For better or worse it was sort of like an antidote to both the fun-hating, anti-entertainment Meltzers of the smark world and the gay cynical Al Snow business smark mindset. RIP to the founder.
>>
>>19465285
Trump ruined america’s economy with traiffs

Retard
>>
>>19465127
Mine.
>>
>>19465472
He ruined the economy but it wasn't because of the tariffs.
>>
>>19465297
kek ETHERED these boomertrooners
>>
>>19465454
>I still find his WWE 1997 KC video to be endlessly fascinating because of how meticulous he was with his own book-keeping
His retelling of the build-up to the Montreal Screwjob is still my favorite retelling of events from anyone involved in that shitshow. Corny is a genuinely great storytelling. Any story that starts with:
>"It gets to nut-cutting time..."
gets a pop out of me.
>>
>>19465127
Big Dave out of all those. Russo and Cornette are stuck in their own mentalities and are extremely dismissive of non-US wrestling.
>>
>>19465127
Cornette's is the most honest and coherent of the 3. Dave can barely speak and his takes on in-ring matches are more spotty than Jim's. Russo doesn't know jackshit about wrestling
>>
>>19465127
Russo
Cornette is a boomer mark thats only right about aew and got big with smarks and marks by jumping onto shoots when they were starting to get over
Also a cuck
Meltzer is mentally retarded in some way
I remember far more russo segments that matches that meltzer likes
Cornettes booking works only when you still have leaded gas on sale or you are in a place called stinky valley
>>
>>19465127
Russo style is still relevant and based. Cucknette is a dinosaur and meltzer is not even in the conversation he has never worked in any fed
>>
Didn't Cornette fail at booking ROH to the point they had to replace him with Delirious or whatever? And that was in like 2012 or something. He's largely in failure in wrestling the last 20 years. Also couldn't hold down a job in TNA, he doesn't have the maturity to taken seriously. Meltzer gives way too many stars to lucha shit that looks nothing like a fight but is the best historian. Russo actually did okay when it came to booking tv but sucked really really bad with ppvs.

So probably:

Russo > Meltzer > Cornette
>>
>>19467641
>Didn't Cornette fail at booking ROH to the point they had to replace him with Delirious or whatever?
No, he actually got them their best, most lucrative TV deal they ever had.

>>
>>19467660
Yeah, so it was more profitable than ever, and some obese marks cried. Sounds about right.
>>
Russo wrote all of the classic shit for Austin and Rock: the beer truck, the bridge fight, the Zamboni, corporate Rock and endless more moments that will forever be remembered

Cucknette can't draw flies to shit
>>
Cornette:
Smokey Mountain Wrestling - went out of business as a shit high school gym indy

TNA - Management lost confidence in him

ROH - kicked to the curb because his shitty 1980s booking philsohy wasn't fit for a modern platform.
>>
>>19465127
I have yet to catch Cornette disagreeing with me on anything in pro wrestling in the last 6 years of listening to each podcast.
Wording matters. He never disagrees with me. I get an impression, and then I hear he got the same impression as me, every single time. But he could explain why things were shit and I'd think "yes that's right", not like I'm his teacher, but in the sense of feeling the accuracy of his rhetoric.
Just wrestling though.

Cornette says all the right things about "how the business should be run" but that really isn't what creates good wrestling. You can tell me all about how kayfabe matters and the marks should stay in the bleachers. You can tell me a moron like Russo is a perverted dumbass or Tony Khan is a pathetic fanboy with too much cash. You can tell me a lot of things that are objectively true. At the same time, however, none of this basic information is going to produce anything noteworthy. If Corny wasn't employed by the man he probably would have told Vince McMahon his lofty ideas weren't going to work (or said it on the era equivalent of a podcast) and indeed many of them didn't, but several did and it created immense success. Cornette is a nebbish and bookish man who wants to do everything according to how it ought to work on paper. This is why he didn't burn as bright as Russo, a man he despises, and his current fans are a bunch of sniveling empty-headed twats who nod like pigeons at everything he tells them. And above all else? He ain't fuckin likable.

as someone who sat through half a smokey mountain wrestling show I dont think cornette gets enough heat for how shit that business was, to hear him tell it they had these huge incredible events but thats pure bullshit, there were like 200 people in the entire place and my dad and me left cause it sucked so bad and then a ring rope broke and they had some fat fuck trying to fix it
>>

the classic "everything bad was russo and everything good was mcmahon" headcanon. austin rock and foley have all given him credit
>>
>>19465234
This is all your headcanon by the way. You have completely made up the idea that Russo was only writing for the undercard because you can't stand giving him a little bit of credit for anything

Russo. He understands that a pro wrestling television show is a television show first and foremost and he ain't a mark, bro. His results are mixed but at least he gets it. I respect Cornette's opinion the second most because he understands pro wrestling but he doesn't understand TV. He and Russo would be fucking amazing working together but unfortunately they don't get along. Meltzer's opinion deserves no respect whatsoever because he doesn't understand TV or pro wrestling.
>>
>>19465150
>Florida is America
If you say so.
>>
>>19469765
>>19469784
No, you dumb retard; everyone knows Russo wrote for the whole roster. It's that McMahon was hands-on with the main event talent and filtered most of that shit. The undercard is where you saw most of that dogshit play out, since McMahon didn't care enough to make sure fucking Al Snow was being booked well.
If you need more evidence of this, just look at when he had the book in WCW all on his own. The entire card was horrid.
>>
>>19465127
All three have ruined wrestling. So i don't know
>>
>>19465127
none
>>
>>19465127
cornette has the most solid opinion on wrestling.
but his politics are dogshit.
russo also has some pretty good opinions.
but meltzer's opinions are dogshit copes.
>>
>>19465127
Fuck Russo
Marry Cornette
Kill Meltzer

Wait, what was we talking about?
>>
>>19469820
Basically what I was about to write, but said better
>>
Dutch Mantell because:
1. He respects wrestling and booking with consistency like Cornette
2. Doesn't mind silly shit and throwing ideas around like Russo
3. Appreciates 5-star banger matches like Meltzer 4. Pretty much accepts any of the above aspects of pro wrestling, the most important thing is that it draws money
5. Doesn't have a grating personality and seem to get along with everyone in all promotions he worked in
6. Has actually wrestled and gotten into real fights
7. Hates wokies and cancel culture (though he hasn't explicitly stated it)
8. Seems pretty chill but doesn't let anyone step over him
9. Acts like a retard, not knowing names, misremembering years and angles, doesn't know basic common general knowledge but despite that drops random wisdom like some hidden guru
