I think most of you saying the ending of the Cena-Gunther match was "good" are just coping hard. The amount of calling this "cinema" or "high art" are absolutely coping over the fact the ending didn't make a lick of sense and try and gaslight themselves into thinking it makes sense.

>>19485345Ending aside, the actual match itself was mostly bad and boring, as was probably expected from a 38yr old submission merchant and a 48yr old retiree. The only interesting part, imho, was the spot with the repeated lariat clotheslines and Gunther asking the ref to keep checking Cena. What’d he do, like 5 of those? Just when you figured they were done with that spot, they did it again. And then they did it AGAIN. lol. Stuff like that is neat match production, especially in the context of the big powerful brute battering the underdog hero. The announcer table spot was ok too, I guess. Predictable, but fine. But otherwise, Cena’s performance wasn’t great. He did the first five knuckle shuffle package way too early in the match. Fans weren’t even ready for it, it happened so soon. Makes me wonder if they’d always planned on doing it THREE different times, which is what happened. Gunther was boring, as usual. Outcome aside, it was mostly a snoozer. I would’ve loved for it to be a “no DQ, I Quit” match. Then they could’ve gone around the arena and battered each other with garbage cans and props and shit like that. Would’ve made it more fun for the fans, and would’ve sold the idea that Gunther beat up Cena more. Oh well.
