Dean and Saturn were the Janetties of the group. They just didn't have the "character", that Vince and the WWE format always used for their wrestlers, so he tried to do something for Dean and who knows why he thought ladies man Bond type lol. Saturn was a lost cause and would soon be a retard with a mop. In ring they were great their time before WWE showcased they can go but for McMahon Land that didn't mean a thing.

There's a trick to it. It's all dependent on context, the style of the product and who else is on the roster.
As a WCW cruiserweight Dean was actually fairly unique, because he was the "serious" guy in a division surrounded by Spiderman and Jackie Chan and there was always a dynamic to play off. In NJPW when they were obsessed with MMA and Ken Shamrock type shit you could still get away with playing the no-nonsense grappler if you were that good. As a ladies man in Attitude WWF, it's like "this guy looks like your boring uncle but he's doing funny stuff you wouldn't expect him to do". All worked in context.
The more a booker frees his mind from the prison of wrestling insider terms, the better: if there are only one or two genuine "vanilla midgets" on your roster, there are no vanilla midgets. Their gimmick is that they're the "serious looking" ones. Then you can make everything click from there.
