What went so wrong with Cena's retirement tour?
>>19511178He didn't get to fight a proper upcoming star such as Parker Boudreaux
didn't they have near-sellouts on every show? Gotta believe it was a huge success
>>19511191This. What matters is that is was CONSOOOMED, the quality, soul and legacy of it doesn't matter
>>19511178Cody refusing to turn heelno proper storyline or feudslast match's outcome didn't matter because he was gonna retire even if he won
>>19511198>soulGrow up
>>19511178in one word "dewey"that botched fucking heel turn that went absolutely fucking nowhere.
>>19511178Planned for a big story with the rock, something happened and he dropped out. The rest of the tour was just cope
>>19511220To continue, I think the rock quietly retired when no one was looking. His drastic body change could be due to being told that he was fucking his body for Hollywood and couldn't do wrestling anymore
>>19511209You mocking the idea of something having soul is what makes you the perfect consumer. Actual drones for corporations to profit off of, you'll accept anything.
>>19511178Nothing actually happened. It started off with that heel turn which was cool when it happened, but turning him at elimination chamber made it obvious that he'd win at wrestlemania. That was followed up with nostalgia matches against people who were obviously too old to win. Then they realized they fucked up and were wasting what could be generically decent face-Cena time and turned him face to put the belt back on Cody. Nothing really happened. There were no stakes, and there was no story to be invested in. The only thing that felt like it was done right was the IC belt stuff.
No intergender squash match with a rape finish leading to a shoot career ending pregnancy vs Nikki Bella.
It was one of the most successful things the company ever did, at least commercially.Artistically? Beyond the fact that it's probably just a bad idea to do explicit "retirement tours" for a wrestler period? It was too late to have him turn because of fan mistreatment! The time for that would've been fifteen years ago. If you're gonna turn him—which you probably shouldn't do, but assuming you do it anyway—do it because of a believable reason. Like "I just wanna take what's mine".Dwayne's also at fault. As is Travis Scott. But those were minor stumbles next to the real gaping caverns.
>>19511182>Parker BoudreauxWhat a bust.
>>19511178No buddy
>>19511555He's been tearing it up in Japan and is preparing to face The Great Khali in India next month. Talk about a future superstar.
>>19511178>heel turn>beat Flair's record>became a grandslam champion>nostalgia rematches>put over new talentThey did everything the fans wanted with the guy on such limited dates. Other than Dwayne no showing, what more do you want?
It was booked by Paul
