Would he really have been one of the big 3 of the Attitude Era if not for Russo?
u tell me
>>19522804I don't see it at all. I mean him even really fitting in and finding a midcard niche in the AE wwf really. JR was blinded by markdom, and I think Cornette really pushed him to creative too but that man has a spotty eye for booking the right talent to the promotion. He could have had a run with the HC belt and joined the Oddities though, after a failed push.
>>19522804no, midcard at best, nice guys can be top guys in Japan, but he isn't reaching the heights of a Rock, Austin, or Hogan, JR had to be his politicker because he wasn't a twat bts
>>19522804I think he could have conceivably been an upper midcard guy who could convincingly challenge the top guys, but he was wasn't going to be a top guy himself. His stiff as fuck style was never going to fly with Austin or the Rock, but let him crush some other stiff working upper card guys(JBL, Holly, etc) and you could slot him in easily enough
>>19522804He didn't even make it to the top when he was pushed in 1989 WCW. The notion of Austin and his fragile neck working with a dude whose entire offence was stiff clotheslines and head dropping suplexes is hilarious.
>>19522893What storyline brilliance is going to get old ass slow Dr Death to a consistent upper midcard threat. Isn't he a ring work guy? That period was not showcasing that much, especially on the tv.Also in my opinion JR put him over like a fucking killer but he had no aura. You have to make that in wrestling I guess to be fair.
>>19522898>pushed by Jim HerdYou're an idiot
>>19522893do we count rock and austin as the main eventers and guys like taker and show and angle as upper card guys who can float into main event angles, or are austin and rock just a different level and they're all main eventers because they all did reallythese semantics are perplexing me. is a main eventer the man in the main event.. even if he's not over???do wrestling companies even think about it in that binary a term or do they just want to get a guy 'over'????
>>19522951NTA but seems it's never Dr Death's fault to meIf only those damn BOOKERS didn't make something that never happened happen because it was supposed to have happened. fucking smart mark ass thinking
>>19522964keep seething about fake fighting.
>>19522804Vader didn't make it in WWF and he was a bigger deal than Dr. Death. Honestly, it's best that he got hurt and washed out because if he got his main event push, he was probably going to either hurt Steve Austin or have the most neutered matches against a fella who couldn't take a Backdrop Driver.
>>19522972i will seethe as much as i want, i will get invested, i will mean what i say. caring isn't losing and ironic detachment gets fucking oldyou have no power over meor argument
>>19522804dr death could have not done the brawl for all, it was a shoot shoot the guys had to volunteer
holy shit what a zoomer question. I can't even begin to explain to you how little you understand about the Attitude Era if you seriously think he had a chance at being a top guy.
Only bet would have been waiting for the hardcore era, and even then he'd have been as "over" as Al Snow.
>>19523128yeah he'd be in hc title purgatory after six months max being extremely generousaint nobody's fault really, jr is just dumb for being an actual mark. guy was bragging that he'd clear the brawl for all unironically. i heard dr death thought jim might have done him a disservice in that run but iirc he's a chill guy about all that
>>19522898Williams was pushed in 1989. Herd didn't take over until 1990/91
>>19522804Nah, i dont think vince was interested in him and i doubt many people would want to watch or wrestle him if he was doing his ajpw style. Which was a great physical style but WWE wanted personalities and bodies more than actual pro wrestlers. He couldve done ok in wcw but by the time he got there the shit was already awful.
He was pretty beat up from Japan, couldn't cut a promo and was very old school minded. He wasn't the right guy for the product, even in his prime I can't imagine him working anything entertaining with Steve stack of dimes Austin or gay cartoon wrestlers like the undertaker.
>>19522804I don't know, sorry.
pfft noHe would have been a lower midcard shitter
>tragic endNigga went right back to Japan and sold out the Tokyo Dome with Bart GunnThe reality is that Dr Death was basically physically destroyed by the time he got to the WWF in the Attitude Era. If he had been 10 years younger, he would've been a great midcarder for them but that's about it. Maybe an occasional top card threat.Honestly the guy with the best slot for Dr Death in the Attitude Era would be like Big Boss Man's spot. He could've done that because he was legitimately one of the best power guys of all time in the ring.
You guys seen Dr Death's MMA fight? The video is only 40 seconds long.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS7V5KJoF1c
>>19522804Based on his feud with Mutoh in the early 2000s, I think what could have got him over would have been taking the FCC heat and letting him yell "fuck" uncensored in backstage promoshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6ybF6v8TJc
>>19527967Guy was a 50 year old alcoholic with no knees at this point, just sad
Yea, he was a legit tough guy
>>19528162what's wrong with The Princess Bride? Andre's in it and it's quite funny and fun.
>>19528162Why are you doing this?
