How much do you think Vince regretted doing this?
>>
Who else was there at the time that would have been a better candidate?

vince wont shit on you tranny
>>
>>19554148
Kurt Angle realistically, which would have also been the payoff to Steve Austin beating him repeatedly the entire year, instead that story had no conclusion

amazing moment

putting it on jericho or unifying the belt into the WWF belt?
i don't think he regretted either. putting it on jericho was overall fine and he didn't have it that long anyway.
unifying the belts was a moronic decision but i doubt vince regrets it.
>>
>>19554154
Putting it on Jericho, because Vince saw him as a career midcarder, and he later tried his hardest to make you forget that this happened
>>
I don't think Vince regretted it at all. The unified belt or double champ is a fan concept. Vince knew WCW was dead, therefore the concept is dead and if anything he did it to calm everyone down. He basically turned a mountain into a speed bump. Had it been the Rock or Austin, it would've been much bigger and that's why he didn't do that.
>>
>>19554141
What is there to regret? The belts had to go to Hunter at Mania and everyone knew it. If they didn’t book Jericho like shit then maybe he gets made that night too, it didn’t happen but who cares? The roster was so ridiculously stacked and the name change and brand extension shook things up so much it was a sort of soft reboot of pro wrestling.
If Vince regrets anything it’s probably doing the Invasion at all. His instincts were to no sell it and absorb the toys he wanted. Probably would have been remembered better.

>im not putting him over clean WAHHHHHHH
Austin is such a little bitch lol
>>
He wanted to put the belts on a heel who would drop them to HHH. Jericho was as good a choice as any.
>>
>>19554172
Which babyfaces on Austin's level did clean jobs in their prime?
>>
>>19554184
Steve Austin was about to retire when this happened, but go off
>>
>>19554166
Exactly. Vince was forced to do the invasion angle because the moment demanded it, but that's just fan service. Think about how much of a nothing burger the double champ Jericho story became. Jericho's literally a marketing whore but he never over sold the double champ concept as much as he could have. Vince just wanted to give the fans what they wanted and then move on.
>>
>>19554184
Fuck off. Austin was a fucking crybaby face.
>I have to lose to Brock? *sniffle*…well you know what? I’m going home!!!
lol
>>
>>19554151
They didn’t want Angle jobbing at Mania. They turned him face for 9/11 and some cheap pops. Then flip flopped him back and forth for the invasion stuff. They’re supposed to flip him again for the run up to Mania? Plus Vince clearly valued him
More long term, he headlined the next Mania and was a co-headliner the year after, meanwhile Jericho slid down the card immediately.
>>
>>19554199
He already had turned heel after Survivor Series and they basically undid everything they did with him in 2001 as the hero of the WWF.
>>
>>19554202
I’m not sure it was as simple as that. He turned heel to join the alliance to be a mole and he basically tapped and threw the match when Rock put him in the Sharpshooter (the yearly Montreal reference) then you found out he did it on purpose and was working for WWE which would make him a Face again. Except the crowd reaction was not what it was supposed to be. So they flipped again. The Alliance was supposed to be heel but then Ric Flair’s regime that replaced was supposed to be face and McMahon was a heel again. Kurt was mega over before that 9/11 shit went down and he really lost tons of heat when he dropped the belt two weeks or whatever later.

The main point I was making was that they didn’t want to job him out at Mania because his did figure into their long term plans. Jericho got a little transitional run and if he could do something with it, mores the better, but the odds were really stacked with the way they made him look.
>>
>>19554246
I think that's more me being biased, because I went back and watched some of those invasion era PPVs, and they are building Kurt up to be the babyface that dethrones Austin finally. Then he wins because of 9/11, loses the belt 2 weeks later, the mole shit happens, then he turns heel on RAW and in this match he is a heel again and gets jobbed out with one stunner

RVD
>>
>>19554304
based RVD enjoyer. He was also getting crazy pops in late 2001 (WWF even turning down the crowd mics as they didn't take him as a real star lmao). His issue was the fact that he kept injuring people and having a nonchalant attitude about it. So there was a lot of locker room animosity against the guy. That, and most people thinking he's just a spotfest kind of guy.
>>
>>19554148
Austin. Everybody just wanted Austin to be champ they didn't want to see him fucking around in the midcard while Jericho has a heatless title reign
>>
>>19554843
Austin couldn't be in the main event because he had a bitchfit every time he lost
>>
>>19554843
The plan was always for HHH to win at Mania, and Austin wouldn't job to him. Jericho was always just a transition champion.
>>
>>19554141
shit I was a jericho fan and even I thought him going over was dumb
>>
>>19554304
It should have been him, but I doubt he himself would have enjoyed that.
