>beloved babyface finally does a heel run
>its kino
Cena's heel run should've been amazing. I will never forget Paul for fumbling it.

cena fumbled it because he does not know how to be sincere, not break kayfabe every 2 seconds or get anyone invested in the actual story and not the abstract idea of the story happening. he is truly as much of a definitive modern shitter as any indie darling you can name.
completely incapable of actual pro wrestling - not because he doesn't do LE FLIPZ, but because he has no fucking instinct for selling the weight of anything in or out of the ring

Cena's heel run was based, the fans and smarks online ruined it

i'm very grateful that we got to at least see a heel cena before he hung the boots up. vince shouldn't have made him retard superman back in the super cena days and turned him then, but whatever, at least it happened, even if it was bad.

maybe cena just sucks.

the fans didn't ruin it. travis scott and the rock did.

that part

Cena's heel run was likely doomed from the start because it was during his retirement run, which had the dual problems of it being too late into his career, and had a time constraint
It might've been good if there was a well planned story arc with a nimble booker who could work around unforeseeable hiccups and monkey wrenches, but as it was it left me wanting less of heel Cena instead of more

The storyline clearly had The Rock as a central figure who stopped showing up and detailed whatever was planned. It was stupid to do during a retirement run where he wasn't going to get boos, where he wasn't really willing to commit to it, where he only had a small handful of appearances and matches left. Also, Cena just isn't very good, he's as much a manufactured "legend" as anyone could be. Putting a bland wigger up as the top guy when he couldn't have good matches or good promos was a really stupid mistake, and it is the reason above all else that wrestling basically died in the mainstream after Austin/Rock/NWO/Goldberg had built it up. Nothing involving Cena was going to be good because nothing involving Cena has ever been good besides jobbing to RVD.

The Rock was only ever a metaphor.
