Now that the dust has settled, I think Karrion Kross is by far the KWABOTY. He was getting over with the fans despite not being a very good wrestler, but he thought he was more over than he was, thought there's no way WWE would let him go, and thought that fans would force WWE to rehire him if they did. Turns out, he wasn't as over as he thought. People did like him, but they were perfectly willing to watch the show without him.
