Go ahead and try to find another title change or promo or anything that was even recorded involving that belt in the year before this happened. Or try looking up the guys who held it that don't have a Wikipedia page or even a picture you can find with a search engine. I doubt anyone in this thread could even actually name another company that was a member of the NWA at that point. The only people who would have given a shit about the NWA belt were just watching WCW where all the guys who actually made it prestigious were wrestling. If ECW had kept themselves tied to it they wouldn't have done most of the stuff that people actually like and remember and they would have died off as another bullshit local territory all the same. They would have never gotten on PPV or had their own TV deal or anything, they would have probably meant less in the long run than Smokey Mountain Wrestling and people only even know that shit existed because of Jim Cornette's podcast.
