The Saudis clearly love legacy wrestlers, and are willing to pay millions (even billions) for them.

Who do we see at SaudiMania this year?
>>
>>19601133
>Legacy wresters
You mean "draws."
>>
Maybe they can book Jerry Lawler vs Dory Funk Jr on a midcard match
>>
>>19601133
Almost guaranteed to have a match:
>Undertaker
>Shawn Michaels
>Austin
>Kurt Angle
>The Hardys
>John Cena

Likely to appear:
>The Rock
>Triple H
>Ric Flair
>Chris Jericho (as “Y2J”)
>Big Show
>Vince McMahon

Unlikely:
>Trish Stratus
>Kane
>DX
>The Duddleys
>Shane McMahon
>Donald J. Trump
>>
>>19601146
i could see:
Rock vs. Roman
Undertaker vs. John Cena (billed as “end of an era”)
Shawn Michaels vs. someone from NXT
Hardy Boys vs. Jeri-Show
Ric Flair and Charlotte Flair vs. Ethan Paige and Chelsea Greens
Donald Trump vs. Joe Hendry (comedy squash)
>>
>>19601133
One of these old guys have really gotta milk it
Like literally ask for billions to show up
>>
>>19601186
i thought the rumor was that taker got close to a billion for his last saudi match
>>
>>19601146
Vince McMahon vs Ganel Jrant
>>
>>19601133
>Taker and Michaels AGAIN
like fuckin WHY
>>
>>19601205
>a billion
Lmao yeah right.
>>
>>19601205
Yeah that's why he's forced to do a dog shit podcast for money no one listens to
>>
>>19601328
nah its the opposite, he has so much money that he CAN do a dogshit podcast nobody listens to
>>
>>19601133
Make it a Fatal 4-Way match and have Stone Cold go over
>>
>>19601133
Nashbros...
Bretsisters...
>>
>>19601133
the saudis havent used much boomer sloppa in years
they must have seen us make fun of them
>>
>>19601677
We all know he would only agree to it if he was going over but I think a better idea would be to get some more legends and do a multi man tag match so all these old fucks just get in for two mins and get their shit in. No one wants to see these guys getting gassed.
>>
>>19601133
this shit sucks so bad, man
>>
>>19601146
I'm gonna give both Cena and Carder the benefit of doubt and think they won't have a match, but still appear. Kurt said he really can't wrestle anymore, and he retired because he didn't like the way he was moving (he was slower, but still Kurt fucking Angle), and wants people to remember him for his work when he was "healthier" (big word coming from a guy who wrestled a career with neck injuries), so he won't wrestle either, he may still appear. Others are fair game.
>>
>>19601146
brett hart will do one more match for sure. I could also see the saudis ask for bray wyatt and wwe doing some distasteful AI/hologram version of bray to satisfy them
>>
the only way this will work is if they do some kind of old-timer battle royale or gimmick match where they each only have to work 1-2 minutes
>>
>>19601133
I really want to see an out of shape undertaker in his oversized fucking hoody again with a bigass goofy smile trying to do the deadman routine
I want to see both hardy boys kill themselves
I want to Cena say 'I'lll fight in Saudi one last time, but I've beaten all the greatest people, I've beaten all the bosses' and then rock comes out 'lolz I own your soul let's have a soul on a pole match'
>>
>>19601717
I once saw a meme during the PS4 era claiming that a guy traveled to the UAE and found them selling brand new PS2 consoles as the latest gen available, and claiming they live 20 years in the past compared to the rest of us. This is actually partially true, at least when it comes to TV, a friend of mine with Arab roots told me that the lastest shows usually take a long time to get a licensed sub or dub, so the "latest episode" was released like 5 years ago, so at the time whatever wrestling they watch on television is not necessarily what happened last week or even last year, and can be years old, so for the first show they literally asked for Yokozuna, a guy who has been dead for almost 20 years by the time of the show.
>>
>>19601328
I blame Michelle
>>
>>19601770
>distasteful
Like anyone here gives a shit

>soul on a pole match
This is so retarded that it actually has a good chance of being booked for real.
>>
>>19601803
At least with wrestling they've caught up at this point. Saudi crowds are full of 'smarks' now and they're up to date with everything now, maybe moreso than the average US crowd.
Rumble crowd should be very modern cause you'll have a ton of fly ins. You'll see a bunch of Euros in the stands.
>>
This isn’t just the future of sports entertainment it is the future of sports and entertainment.
Everything will be made to for rich weirdos with retarded tastes. Reject capitalism now and you might get wrestlemania back within your lifetime.
>>
>>19601827
Yeah, I'm sure it's very different now, with the internet and the age of parasocial interactions, I am just saying that their nostalgia is very different to ours, while we ridicule the idea of one more Carder match because we know he can't even move, they are like: FUCK YEAH more Carder matches
>>
>>19601841
A government funding entertainment is literally the exact opposite of capitalism.
>>
>>19601146
They'd all just be making appearances if they're there. John Cena is never wrestling again. He made it very clear, and he's too autistic to change his mind. Undertaker is never wrestling again. Steve Austin vs LA Knight isn't impossible if they could make something fun out of it.
>>
>>19601841
It's the current meta but won't last forever. They're investing in modernization to give them a better foot forward in the future but they'll scale back at some point. You'll always see shows there but it won't be obscene.
>>
>>19601133
like why? do they want to see these guys die in the right? i dont get it.
>>
Will these be hologram matches?
>>
>>19601861
I don't think that's the case anymore and you couldn't get away with an embarrassingly bad match like you could before. They'd love a spot like with the Codyvengers where he shows up and domes someone tho.
>>
>>19601933
People in this thread are saying the saudis are stuck in the past, but it's smarks online who call every Saudi show a "glorified house show" even though they always feature huge matches, storyline development, and title changes. But the first couple of them were glorified house shows, so they keep repeating it. I think that's why WrestleMania being there mindbroke people so badly, you can't call it a glorified house show.
>>
>>19601973
imo what the saudi fans want right now is to be "part of the gang" over everything
they want the whole fanbase rating their show the best of the year etc
>>
>>19601986
There's a guy who lives in America but is originally from Saudi Arabia who calls into Busted Open fairly regularly. He seems to slightly resent the anti-Saudi sentiment. When it was originally rumored that Saudi Arabia was going to buy WWE, he called in to assure everyone that Saudi Arabia isn't buying WWE to ruin WWE, but they want to make it better. He said that everyone in Saudi grew up with WWE and loves it. That if you asked people in Saudi Arabia if they know who Tom Brady is, maybe 50% of people would know who he is, but everybody knows who Vince McMahon is, and Vince is a legend in Saudi Arabia.
>>
>>19601933
>>19601973
>>19601986
I think you're all missing why the fuck there's a Saudi contract to begin with
From the WWE's side it's 'easy cash'
From Saudi's side it's trying to 'buy' US 'market sports' so why not go for WWE? The 'worldwide American company with the American sport'
Most of the people going for the shows aren't fans - it's solely so they can say 'we went to a big American show'. You still have t he rich faggots in the front having no idea about anything when they get shown and not paying attnetion to the match
>>
>>19601205
The number I heard was 10 milly. Still a lot for a single match/appearance.
>>
>>19602003
I agree with everything until the fan stuff. It was that at first but now they made organic fans out of a bunch of normies, geeks and rubes like they did elsewhere
Maybe that's all part of the plan but it is what it is.
>>
>>19601873
>John Cena is never wrestling again
Yeah, just like Shawn Michaels.
>>
I'm tired of pretending Saudi Arabia isn't a cool place. I seriously think that I might go to WrestleMania next year. I also want to visit that new Six Flags park and ride the tallest roller coaster in the world.
>>
>>19602044
Let me rephrase, 'most of the fans' as in, the ones paying for ringside seats, good views, etc

The ones in the nosebleeds? Yes, actual fans
>>
Lots of cinematic matches then I guess
>>
>>19602072
Eh, tickets are cheap and the Saudi welfare programs are crazy good. A huge chunk of the population are just neets because it's easy to be one.
>>
>>19601873
>undertaker is never wrestling again

doubt.jpeg
>>
>>19601146
too ambitious. realistically we’ll get:

appearance:
>john cena
>the rock
>triple h
>shane mcmahon
>ric flair

matches:
>stone cold
>hardys
>jericho
>big show
>maybe trump
>>
>>19601133
>>19601146
Where is Benoit?
>>
>>19601867
You have a retards child’s understanding of economics.
>>
>>19602162
show is cooked, has been trying to get in ring shape for a while now and cant get it together
>>
>>19601133
And that's why saudi events shouldn't be canon.
>>
>>19601803
That was definitely the case back in 2009-2010 when Space Power (RIP) was airing Raw and SmackDown. They were showing stuff from 2006-2008 with Arabic dub, and since it was a major free-to-air channel, it blew up immediately. That’s the main reason guys like Cena, Orton, Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, ect.. are massively popular in the Arab world.

Eventually, MBC snatched the rights around early 2011( don't know exactly but around when the Summer of Punk was kicking off) and they actually kept the delay pretty short, usually about a week for subtitling.

Nowadays, hardly anyone watches wrestling as religiously as they used to. People might catch a couple of segments on MBC Action or a match on YouTube, but everyone still remembers that specific "space power" era. It’s no wonder Saudi Arabia keeps pushing for people they actually recognize rather than 'dimeless' shitter like Seth Rollins.

You now remember the top heel of the MBC Action fed
>>
>>19601133
They'll get John cena whenever they want him too
>>
its more grim to think that the next saudimania will probably be the same, with even older “stars” coming back to wrestle.
>>
>>19601133
I wonder if current wrestlers get mad at these guys wanting boomer wrestlers over them

'b-but they cant even go in the ring!'
>>
They should take it back to 92 with a collared greens and loose butthole match featuring you know who vs the fellas.
>>
>>19603066
They need to stop being shitters and it won't be a problem.
>>
>>19601133
I don't get why they’re wasting millions on these shows instead of just buying the whole thing. I mean, how much did WWE sell for to JKO? Like $1 billion? That’s literally pocket change for them
