Post a wrestler from the modern era that legitimately gets more praise than they deserve. They can be from any promotion or country. Serious answers only, no ragebait/crybaby console war bullshit.

Are we in the modern era or the postmodern era?

Good question. for the sake of it lets say 2015 - now
>>
>>19626171
He was dimes in New Japan and the main reason I started watching but also one of the first examples of people clearly only hearing about him or seeing gifs of him and pretending they are huge fans.

Swerve and Seth are two of the most insufferable wrestlers to watch in the ring and I'm amazed that people still continue to give them free passes and hold them in high regard. The former might have the worst moveset in all of the big promotions, made even worse by the fact that he's been executing it a half speed for a couple of years now, and the latter never fails to shatter the logic of his matches by spending 15 minutes selling his knee or his back then following it up with falcon arrows and splashes like they were nothing. Fuck these two.

pretty much everyone today, there are very few wrestlers left who are actively good in 2026 let alone great
>>
>>19626248
I think Seth has been getting a ton of shit desu. I respect him for trying though. Swerve is just garbage.
>>
>>19626229
>but also one of the first examples of people clearly only hearing about him or seeing gifs of him and pretending they are huge fans.
Couldn't have said it better myself
>>19626248
Nobody really rates Seth after 2015, in my opinion he doesn't belong here
>>
Dom. I cringe thinking about that period when people were pretending he got real heat and it wasn't just fans playing their part.
>>
>>19626159
Iyo. Has the exact same matches as all the other women, but does a flip or top rope move that she botches 3-40% of the time and this is apparently the peak of women's wrestling. If it was just this board I'd handwave it as the typical weeb infatuation, but I've seen it everywhere which is inexplicable unless all the joshisimps completely take over every wrestling forum and propagate this absurd lie.
>>
>>19626175
He’s so sexy
>>
Aleister Black. I know no one really praises him, but he's not getting laughed out of the industry and that's still way more than he deserves.
>>
>>19626274
>>19626265
He gets shit on for his flamboyant antics moreso than his wrestling. You're still likely to come across fans (and sometimes wrestlers, but that's probably more due to locker room brotherhood) treating him as one of the very best workers in the world. It even happens here sometimes. Boggles my mind desu.
>>
>>19626347
Ehhh I don’t think people think he’s one of the best. More like “well he didn’t shit the bed that often” and did what he could with what he was given.

I've never seen the hype even though I actually like his wrestling.
>Saying "FUCK" a bunch of times in a post show internet interview meltdown doesn't make you charismatic
>Incredibly inconsistent physique beyond his abs
>Not as handsome as women/fags make him out to be
>Bad presentation, genuinely looked more interesting as a potential school shooter than anything else he's tried in the last 5-6 years

I don't even buy the hype that HHH would've booked him better than Tony. I just think everyone desperately wanted to make a new gaijin star to root for after all the Bullet Club/Elite departures and decided to make him more than he is.

Okada.
He's just OK overall. I'm not gonna chew on the matches, only seen a few them that were hyped, they were OK. Maybe he has better ones. Didn't watch the Takahashi one yet, heard it's OK at the very least.
But it's everything else too with this dude that's just OK. Charisma, promo, gear, entrance, finishers and moves, name of the moves.. everything is just "OK". Like a walking committee decision where all the edge was taken out and function was main focus.
If OK-ada was a car he'd be Honda Accord station wagon with a economy engine yet people rave on about him like he's some wild sports car.

>>19626363
I legit believe he's the best wrestler in the world. He's a true old school guy who could squeeze as much juice out of any material he's given and always manages to keep the crowd involved in his matches, whether he's being a heel or a babyface. And as a heel, he was probably the perfect foil to all the New Japan babyfaces they had. I think he's just been fucked over by a terrible booker who doesn't understand his strengths and hasn't put him a face who can oppose him properly and unfortunate injuries. But yeah he just does so many subtle logical things in his matches that always tickle my autistic brain in a good way, rarely ever busting out something that breaks the immersion. I'll always be a Jay Huwaito mark desu, despite all the (understandable) shit he gets on this board.

More as I think about it.
>Seth
Blatantly Triple Paul's self insert. No charisma, no real star power, has good matches, but never someone any fan would pay to see, but continuously shoved into months long main event storylines as the face of the company.
>LA Knight
Obnoxious try hard botch machine. Peak "indieshitter who wishes he was actually cool" vibes. Entire gimmick feels like a guy playing a character he wishes he was instead of who he actually is.
>Becky Lynch
Basically the female version of her husband. Excruciating boring matches that last forever despite no one caring about them. Terrible promos. Even if your defense is that "she's supposed to be annoying" she's not annoying in the way where you care about what she's doing, and want her to get her comeuppance, just annoying in the way you turn your TV off so you don't have to listen to her and the retarded fake stuttering

>>
>>19626171
I completely dropped him after his latest Gimmick change after losing the US title. The anime-samurai gimmick was kino and they just didn't even follow it through.
>>19626175
The most promising young jap talent in decades turns out gayer than Omega after just few years in AEW. Sad. He's still talented and all but clearly butt sex was more enticing than making dimes
>>19626178
I hate Sami promo's with a passion, but he's put out at least a few good matches. Tragic state of wrestling that he is considered a upper mid card guy despite being such a whiny Canadian bitch, I don't get what's so appealing about that.
>>19626190
This image is in the dictionary as visualization for "believing your own hype"
>>19626243
Sometimes it seems like Bronn is getting worse on main compared to NXT rookie years, sometimes he kicks in that gear that makes you think he's got a future
>>19626310
Does that matter? What's this real heat in a era where everyone can pop on a backstage documentary saying it's not real ?
>>19626363
Jay was so good as that struggling NJPW guy trying to carry a zombie company during COVID-19, so much emotion on promos, so much real frustration seeping through. That Jay vanished in America as well as the effort
>>
>>19626328
If it wasn't for his matches with based Velveteen Dream and with Buddy then he probably would have been chased out of the big leagues a while ago. He still retains a lot of good will because of those.
