There's good and bad matches in every promotion including WWE. Tanahashi was watching WWE. Cena was watching classic AJPW. Tons of Japanese wrestlers picked up skills from British wrestlers like Billy Robinson. Wrestling is always picking up ideas from each other.

It's mostly subjective. I can say that HBK vs Undertaker at WM25 is better than Shibata vs Okada at Sakura Genesis and marks can debate all day and night but I think everyone would agree that both matches are outstanding for different reasons.
