This is the destination for all based webms, brother
On tonight's docket: 100+ webms of NJPW Wrestlekingdom, New Year Dash, NOAH The New Year and much more!
>>
I'm starting with WK and New Year Dash, then I'll do NOAH's 1.1 show, and after that I'm going try work my way back from the Christmas shows. It's good to be back, bros.

Based webmbro. Did Wrestle Kingdom restore the feeling for you? I'm actually hype for NJPW for the first time in a while
>>
>>19657421
I don't think I ever lost the feeling as hard as some people on here did, but WK and NYD certainly did a lot for my optimism with the company and I may be willing to say it's overtaken NOAH as my favorite again. Just the "little" thing of Takeshita tapping to a Boston Crab feels pretty important. There's lots of other things that I'll go over as I post the relevant webms, but for a WK with this heavy outside influence I think things played out really, really well.

PURE FUCKING YEN
I like DOUKI just being a generic evil bad guy, but this "game master" persona is a cute addition. Doubt it'll last long, though. I kinda feel like they're turning him back with the Despy match, but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. My mark booking was a title rematch at WK with DOUKI turning face midway. Will still be cool if they do decide to do that later, but mirroring the venue would've been awesome.

>ynr when mikey nicholls hardway'd henare and then dropped him directly on his skull on night 1 of the G1

I still do not like this guy but one way he could get over is by just being an unintentional comedy guy. This got me good.

As cool as this is, and as awesome as the moment is, I can't help but feel a little bad for Boltin. This is basically the exact spot Boltin was in in the KOPW feud, but with a different big shooter gaijin just with more hype. I can't help but feel Boltin could've gotten a moment like this because this crowd would've popped for Wolf doing absolutely anything.
>>
While I agree that this match seems very overrated by some people, I also really like parts of it. The opening sequence of clean breaks is really, really good.

Good to have you back. The Tochi Pro Happy New Year & Shinjiro Otani Aid was the best show of the season for me. MIRAI and Sareee had head-drop kino and the main event had Kohei Sato giving and receiving multiple gnarly headbutts.

I somehow didn't notice while watching it live, but that take down is a shoot. EVIL doesn't post at all, nice. I hope he can safely work in more judo stuff, especially after watching a highlight reel some anon posted in the njpw gen

I liked Tsuji's selling leading into this.

Takeshita makes this look great too. I especially like how Tsuji just goes for it without waiting for Takeshita to "set up," makes it look way more chaotic.

>>
It's like he hasn't aged in 10 years.
>>
>>19657353
I'm sure he was penciled in at one point to be the guy retiring Tana. Got to be kind of bittersweet to be working the show in the undercard instead. Although maybe he's relieved? He comes across sometimes as someone who really doesn't want to be "The Guy" in that way.
>>
I can't tell if this was intended or not, but Okada's taunt afterwards feels improvised.
>>19659120
>at one point
Absolutely true, but I feel like those plans had to have changed with his WK19 match and the crowd reactions that followed. It's a weird spot where he's clearly beloved by a section of the crowd but absolutely disrespected by a vocal part when it comes to title matches.
> Although maybe he's relieved? He comes across sometimes as someone who really doesn't want to be "The Guy" in that way.
I can see this sometimes. It feels like he was just thrust into this position and he doesn't really have the public persona for that position. Tsuji and Yuto feel like the most ready for the top position when it comes to promos and presence.
>>
>>
I genuinely popped out of my fucking seat. If this had happened after any of the other outsiders that reaction would've been far lessened but I genuinely lost it. I let myself believe for a second.

Doesn't count. At least not to me. Maybe it's better now, but I watched those initial well-praised Collision matches and he felt completely gutted. His biggest strength is match builds and you just can't do that with weekly television structure.

I'm really into this. Obviously Ishii is the GOAT worker and I'll be into absolutely anything he does, but Team 150 as pissed off dads is a total home run to me. This match got me as excited as anything on WK.

Hell yeah, brother. He'd be a perfect fit for NOAH I think, they've just the right hoss bullshittery for him. He should leave, do purely choppa/shoulder tackle/elbow merchant matches and come back with no visual differences and then singlehandedly revive the 2010s NEVER division.
>>19661523
>Juice and him vs FTR is still based.

that moment made the lump in my throat get really big and made my eyes water up. If you know their entire history, it is absolutely pinnacle kino. How powerful thi moment is cannot be overstated. I thought they'd never top the 'Shibata seconding Tana for the G1 Final 2018' moment. As far as capping off their story.
>>
For whatever reason, him caring less makes me like Jake Lee so much more. I could never buy him as a War Dog, but as a stoic weirdo with a contact and who comes out with a half toga in the stable of misfits, he really works. I hope they keep it up.
>>19663164
Yeah. Their story is my favorite wrestling story bar none and they wrapped it up really nicely.
>>
I haven't felt this good about UE as a whole since their first six months as a stable, and that's coming off of their recent extremely unconvincing heel turn which was in my opinion the stable's lowest point. Without someone as Ospreay in the lead the whole stable felt like a directionless collection of weirdos but never really committed to that fully. With the recent returns and additions they really do feel like a group of misfits in a great way, and that, in turn, has made me enjoy Newman's change in character more too. I don't buy him as a leader, but I buy him as a twerp wannabe who's managed to delude himself into thinking he's leader material because of the weirdos with nowhere better to be following him. And then capping it all off with this to give the stable direction going forward was great. I just really hope it doesn't turn into faction in-fighting but actually goes somewhere.
>>

>>
Christ, Robbie almost Misawa's himself here.
>>
This "tank with tech" character Oiwa is doing right now is all I could ever ask for. The best of both worlds. So damn good.
>>
>>19663368
Obviously besides the Tanahashi match this was my favorite match of the weekend. Actually liked it considerably more than the Takeshita/Tsuji match. There's so much mileage they can get out of this Oiwa/Ice rivalry if they play it right. It's all right there for them with the classic pretty rich boy with something to prove against the hardened street kid that looks down on him.
>>
This move's always been perplexing to me because Yuto so clearly just hits them. I'm very ready for the "lay your shit in" revival in NJPW.
>>
>>19663402
Yeah, I agree. NYD was an incredible show, opening and closing especially strong. Kind of glad this didn't go on WK, even though I get being mad about that if you're the BROTHERS. Commentary worked that well into the story, though.
>>
I know he's tall, but the air Oskar gets surprises me every time. Good sell from Zack here too.
>>
OIWA OIWA OIWA
>>
I'll always pop for a short knee, but especially one where the momentum is so believably headed right for it.
>>
GO OIWA GO OIWA GO

This was the ideal way to end this match. The BROTHERS retaining against the WTL winners cemented them as pillars of the tag team division, and Oiwa looked like an absolute monster all match, and he can hopefully carry that into singles competition.

I'm going to stop here because we're at a clean 151 and I've finished up most of the stuff I had planned anyway. Next week you can expect me to catch up on NJPW and NOAH's Christmas shows, at least one of AJPW's New Year Wars shows as well as GLEAT's December shows. I'm also hoping to have finalized my MOTY list, but there was a wrench in the works in the shape of my computer's C drive completely dying that delayed the finishing touches on that. Luckily I didn't lose anything important, but it stole two days of the time I expected to be free. But that's enough of that! Thank you all for the warm welcome back and the very active thread.
