But it’s arguably more interesting when the story starts IN the ring, with two guys just kinda thrown together for a 1-on-1 main event match. I think fans get more invested in a character by what they do DURING a match (effort, risk taking, selling, etc) than by some forced backstage segment.These days it feels like stories are usually BUILT with promos, video packages, and backstage segments, and simply SETTLED in the ring. But matches like this remind me that stories can be BUILT in the ring too.
